Chapter 11
Mated To My Doom
"Tell them all I know now,
Shout it from the roof tops
Write it on the sky line
All we had is gone now
Tell them I was happy
And my heart is broken
All my scars are open
Tell them what I hoped would be
Impossible"
Chapter 11
People often use the phrase, Slept like a baby.
I never understood that.
Babies cry. A lot. They wake up every few hours and who knows how what they dream of.
Rainbows and flowers? Or perhaps those kids with no manners dream of daemons and devils.
I could feel the sun on my face, my eyes still shut from sleeping.
I feel.. amazing. I am in complete bliss.
I had one arm under the pillow and another over it. My mind was completely free. This might be the first time in history that I wake without the feeling of tiredness.
My bed was never this comfy.
I decided not to question it, but rather enjoy it. I turn my body to the left and help but to moan as I stretch my legs.
Ahhh much better.
While outstretching my legs, I seem to have kicked something. Or someone.
Groaning came from my left. My eyes opened instantly, my breath caught in my mouth at the sight.
"Hun-ter!" My voice croaked half way from just waking up.
"Hello, doll face," Hunter had no difficultly to replying. His husky voice leaving tingles on my ears.
Noe realizing our position, I shriek back.
"Get off!' I yelled, trying to retrieve my hand from under him.
So it wasn't a pillow all along. It was Hunter.
"You were'nt saying that last night." Hunter gave a wicked grin while freeing my hand.
"W-what? What happened last night?"
I couldn't remember anything.
"I-I was in the woods. Liv! Liv was there! And Tom! And Jason!" Hunter seemed just as confused as I was.
"Who is Liv, Tom and Jason?"
I ignore his question, and instead give my own.
"How did I get here?"
"You flew," He teased.
"Hunter. How did I get here?" I add a little demand to my question.
"Ouu feisty. I like it." Hunter winked, not once dropping his smirk.
This was a side of Hunter I had never seen before, a more playful version. I didn't know whether to be afraid or amused.
"Okay, that's it." Throwing the covers off me, I hop out and walk towards the door.
Hunters up in a flash, his hand firmly on mine.
"Don't go."
It was strange to hear those words coming from Hunter. Such desperate words from such a strong man.
"Tell me. Everything." I walked back to the bed, Hunter still holding my hand.
Before I could even sit, Hunter whirled me away, sat himself, then placed me on his lap.
It was a sly move in which I just shrugged off.
I gave him a disapproving look, and sat away from him on the other side of the bed. Despite the way I was acting, deep down I wished I would have stayed in his arms.
Stupid mating bond.
Stupid Alpha.
Why does he have to be so strong and powerful? I can't even reject him! That's how powerful his wolf is.
"I found you on the brink of passing out, last night in the woods. I brought you back here, you were okay, just tiered."
"I was in the woods?" I confirmed.
"You should be able to remember that much. You were'nt drugged, Rosalyn. You just made a stupid, very stupid decision."
I stopped paying attention as soon as he said my name; a chill running through my spine.
"Rose?"
"Rose?"
"Rosalyn?"
Hunters use of my full first name caught my attention.
Usually, when someone called me Rosalyn, I wanted to Punch them. But when Hunter said it, I wanted to kiss him.
No! I acn't be thinking like this.
"Then what?" I focused back to what I was saying.
"Then I brought you to my bed, and we slept. Together." A dimple showed on his left cheek.
He purposely made it sound like we, 'slept together'. Well guess what Hunter, not in this life time!
"There are like a million other rooms, why couldn't I have slept there?"
"They weren't ready," he said nonchalantly.
"It's a room for heavens sake! How ready does it have to be?"
Like I did previously, Hunter ignored my question.
"Liv, she's that annoying blonde girl, right? The stereotypical blonde?"
"Hey! Liv is not the stereotypical blonde! Even if sometimes she acts like she is. Wait how do you even know who she is?"
"She's the one who reported to me that you were'nt home. She said you had taken a short cut through the woods."
"I'm surprised you cared," I said under my breath. It looked like Hunter was going to say something, but what ever it was, he held it back.
"Who is Tom and Jason?" He asked abruptly.
"Why does it matter?"
"Answer me!" He demanded.
I wanted to ignore him, once again, but he was my Alpha, and since we weren't mated, it's still hard to resist his demands.
"They're just my friends, okay?" I could tell that Hunter didn't like my attitude, but didn't comment on it.
"Just friends?" He questioned.
"Yeah, I guess." I'm still confused on why he even cares.
"Are they gay?"
I was somewhat appalled by his question.
"No! Why would you even ask that?"
"So they're not gay?"
"No! They like girls. I'm sure of it." How could I not? Every time I was with them, they mentioned girls.
"Girls like you?" He asked cleverly.
"Yes! Wait.. No! But also yes... Okay look. They're my friends. They like girls, but not me. Plus, I don't like them like that."
"No?"
"No."
"Then who do you like?"
"I like-" I gasped, then shut my mouth. I was about to tell him. I really was.
But even I don't know what I was going to say.
Was I going to say Greg? I probably was, he is after all, my boyfriend.
Boyfriend. Such a weird word for a werewolf. Werewolf's have mates, they usually skip the whole dating thing. I mean, sure there are still the players, but even they will have to stop when they find their mate.
A small part of me suggested that perhaps I was going to say Hunter. Hunters my mate. How can I not like him? Even if he's a monster, the werewolf wants, what the werewolf wants.
"Look Hunter, maybe-" A sudden ring of a phone cuts me off. My phone.
Giving Hunter a look, I then answer my cell.
"Hello?"
"Rose? Hey, it's Greg." Knowing that Hunter can hear both my words, and Greg's, I attempt to excuse my self.
However, when I try to leave the room, Hunter blocks the way.
"Oh come on now, don't leave on my account." He gave his wicked smirk in which I scowled at.
"So, what do you think?"
"Hmm?" I completely forgot that I was talking to Greg.
"Sorry what was that?" I was going to cover the phone so it shuts out any other voice, but found it useless. He's an Alpha, I wouldn't be surprised if he could hear my phone conversation if I was 6 homes down.
"Tonight? Movies and dinner? What do you think? Too cliche?" I stared at Hunter, his face completely free of any emotions.
Turning my body so I was looking at the wall, I reply, "Sounds perfect. Pick me up at 7."
Turning back, Hunter still stood between me and the exit.
"Umm.. Do you think you could drive me home?"
"Who was that?" His eyes hardened.
"My sister." Did I ever mention how bad I am at lying?
"Since when does your sister sound like a man?"
"Hey! She's going through puberty, it's a hard time for her."
"Alright then, since when is your sister's name, Greg?" Uggg! Why did Greg have to say his own name?
"It's her middle name."
"Oh really?" Hunter didn't believed me; he showed it in his sarcastic voice.
"Yup."
"Fine, but I have one last question."
"Why would your little sister who is going through puberty pick you up at 7, when you live in the same house?"
"I-It's just a.. a slang term we use. It basically just means that we are leaving the house at 7pm."
"Alright, alright. Let's go. I'll take you home. "
I silently followed Hunter to his car, and didn't speak not even when we started driving.
"We should stop for some breakfast, don't you think?" Hunter phrased his words like a question, but it really wasn't.
"There's really no need-"
By the time I finished my sentence, Hunter had us parked out side of a breakfast only restaurant.
Sighing, I followed.
"Hunter!" The host cheered.
"Good to see you, it's been a while. And who is this? What a fine beauty, you always did know how to pick them." The woman winked at me then directed us to a table for two.
"Wow, humans actually like you, and you don't even have to use your Alpha power to command them."
Hunter smiled, not at all affected by my words.
The woman brought us two plates of food, even though she nerve took our order.
"For you, your usual". The waitress placed a plate filled with scrambled eggs, toast, small potato's, and a beef sausage.
"And for you madam, a little bit of everything." The plate she placed in front of me was stalked with anything you could possibly think of for breakfast.
"Thank you," I smiled.
I wish she had actually gotten my order, because there is no way I can finish all this food. Such a waste.
"You don't have to eat it all, you know. You can take the rest home," Hunters calm voice shocked me.
He was being nice. Too nice.
After making small conversation, eating, and for not starting any arguments, Hunter and I were back on the road.
"Christmas lights already?" Hunter asked as he drove up to my drive way.
I laugh, "Yeah, it's a sort of tradition. We do it right Remembrance day."
"Thanks for the ride." I opened the door and was about to hop out when Hunter stopped me.
He had a grip on my elbow.
"Remember Rose, there is only one movie theater in this whole town."
His words confused me greatly. I was still confused even as he drove away.
Turning towards the door, I see an angry mother. Her eyes connect with mine, then to Hunters car, and a look of understanding replaced her features.
* * *
Greg is a great guy. So great that when he picked me up at 7 on the dot, he came bearing flowers.
As embarrassing as it was, my mother forced us to stand side by side and take a photo.
"Mother!" I complain.
"Just one! This is your first date, it should be documented."
For some off reason, my mothers words made me think of this morning with Hunter. If the breakfast Hunter and I had this morning could be called a date, wouldn't that mean that my first date was actually with Hunter?
I ignored the thought, and any other thoughts that would lead to Hunter.
Tonight is about me and Greg.
" I'm sorry about my mom," I apologize as soon as we start driving.
He chuckled, "It's all cool. She's really nice.Your lucky that she cares so much."
I agree.
"So when I checked show times, there were few movies playing, considering it's a school night, but that new scary movie is out."
"Insidious 3?" I question. I remember hearing how that part 3 of Insidious came out last weekend. I loved the first two, despite the slow start, and wouldn't mind watching the third part.
"Yes! That's the one. So, what do you think? If you don't like scary movies then we an pick another movie. Perhaps a funny one?"
Greg seemed almost nervous, which was actually cute.
"Scary movie it is."
We were almost at the theaters when I noticed a black mini van behind us. It was behind us since we left my house. Deciding not to ruin the night, I conclude that I'm just being paranoid.
We reach the parking and Greg parks the car. The black mini van also parks a couple rows behind.
"Hey! It's not that busy, was a relief. I was scared that it would be considering it's the only theater in town."
Only movie theater in town. Why does that sound so familiar!
Greg paid for both our tickets, then a large popcorn.
"I told you I could pay for the snacks," I frowned.
"Oh come on, it's out very first date as mates, I wan't to pay for everything."
I knew Greg was saying that to calm my nerves, but instead it just bought on a load of guilt.
What will Greg do if he finds out we're not actually mates? Or worse, that his Alpha is my mate.
"Are you okay?" Greg asks just as the movie is starting.
"I'm great," I assured and offered a smile.
* * *
Greg and I were about to pick somewhere to eat when my phone rang.
"I'm sorry, It's my mom, I should get this." Greg nodded.
"Of course, go ahead."
"Hey mom, is everything okay?"
"Everything's fine, honey. But I need you to come home right now."
"What, why?"
"I have big news for you. Bring Greg with you, I'm sorry to cut in on your date, but it's an emergency."
"What happened mom?"
My mother giggled. She never giggles!
"Everything's perfect, come home as fast as you can." My mother then hung up.
"Everything okay?" Greg questions.
"I don't know."
I apologize to Greg about having to cut our date short, but he slides it off saying we'll have many more to look forward for.
It was moments like that, that I wished that Greg was actually my mate.
"You can come in if you want," I tell Greg as we stand in front of my door.
"I would, but I should actually be heading home."
We both smiled. Before I could register what was happening, Greg's lips were merely a millimeter away from mine.
Just as his lips brushed mine, the front door to my house opened and there stood my mother.

I'm sorry if it seemed a little rushed!
