Chapter 30 – Righteous Self-Defence (正当防卫)

Things were awkward on Teacher Jin’s side as well, her expression was full of unease and worry. She believed that the reason why Jing Yunzhao did such a thing today was probably because she was under too much stress from what had happened yesterday.

“Jing Yunzhao, what exactly happened?” Teacher Jin inquired in a strict tone.

Jing Yunzhao didn’t think Teacher Jin’s attitude was unreasonable, especially since Teacher Jin was known to be a fair person. Teacher Jin not blaming her right from the start was already a sign of the trust she placed in her.

“Teacher Jin, I was in the wrong for using violence. I will apologize for that.” Jing Yunzhao frowned. Facing the swollen-faced Lu Jia, she said, “I’m sorry.”

However, before anyone else could say anything, Jing Yunzhao continued, “However, I don’t regret what I did. Furthermore, I only did it as a means of self-defence.”

Teacher Jin was dumbfounded at that moment.

“What do you mean? Could it be that... Lu Jia was the one who attacked first?” asked the teacher from Class 2 suspiciously.

Lu Jia was currently crying so hard she couldn’t catch her breath, moreover, her face was also scarily swollen. She couldn’t utter a single retort.

“When I entered the school today, Lu Jia groundlessly began to speak ill about me. I responded with a few words, but I don’t know how I offended her. She started pointing at me and calling me a bastard. Teacher, it’s not my fault my biological parents abandoned me. Is everyone a bastard the moment they’re born? If you were to experience this kind of mistreatment, wouldn’t you be mad too?” Jing Yunzhao slowly explained.

“That’s why you hit her?” asked Teacher Jin.

If Jing Yunzhao’s pretext for retaliation were as described, then she wasn’t exactly being unreasonable, however, her actions did go a little too far.

“No.” Jing Yunzhao’s expression was firm. “Her words were too slanderous and foul so in turn, I responded, which somehow instigated her anger again. She had stretched out her hands, trying to grab my face. You can all see the length of her fingernails. If she had really succeeded in scratching my face, my face would definitely have been ruined. I couldn’t just let her freely abuse me both verbally and physically, so I retaliated. Unfortunately, I hadn’t known that she’d turn out to only be a paper tiger. She attacked first, but she just wasn’t even able to hit me.”

After Jing Yunzhao finished speaking, a few teachers were speechless.

They couldn’t resist glancing at Lu Jia’s nails. They were indeed frighteningly long.

“Lu Jia, did things really happen as Jing Yunzhao has said?” The teacher of her class was troubled.
