Shangguan Ning was surprised for a moment when she heard the voice on the other side of the phone. She asked hesitantly, “Ji Lili?”

“Of course, it is me! Surprised?” Ji Lili said viciously, “You must come tonight! I have planned a special surprise, just for you.”

Ji Lili seemed to have known that she would have said that, so she sneered and said, “It is going to be a fun night tonight and I am so excited to get started with it! You have got to make it because tonight, you are going to be the showstopper.”

Shangguan Ning had no idea where her confidence came from. She still rejected the offer, and said, “It is definitely exciting when the daughter of the Mayor has two birthdays a year. Don’t worry, I won’t be stealing your show tonight, because you are too ugly and that will make me look pretty, so no one would be interested in looking at you anymore.”

“Shangguan Ning, you are such a bitch! The ugly one is you!”

Ji Lili was still fuming and swearing over the phone, while Shangguan Ning calmly just went ahead and disconnected the call.

She didn’t mean to be Ji Lili’s enemy, but because of Shangguan Rouxue’s trick, their relationship had become bad to worse.

Ji Lili kept asking for trouble. Shangguan Ning was in two minds. She felt like she should have gone to the party tonight, after all. She would’ve gone there and exposed Shangguan Rouxue’s true colours to all those present.

She was still lost in thought, when her phone beeped. A message had been received. It was from Ji Lili. It read –’If you are not here tonight, then your cousin Huang Xinyi’s reputation will be ruined. I believe that as her cousin, you won’t allow that to happen, will you?

Shangguan Ning’s heart skipped a bit after she read the text.

Why and how was her cousin involved?

Didn’t Uncle say that she was abroad for studies? Or did she not go there at all?!

Shangguan Ning was worried about Huang Xinyi so she put up with Ji Lili’s nonsense. Ji Lili was appalled by Shangguan Ning’s attitude, on the other side of the phone. She had never expected that Shangguan Ning would ever say anything like that. Shanguan Ning was someone who was bullied most easily and she would not have responded, no matter how much they instigated or insulted her. She was so silently boring that she was not worth fighting with.

And now, she even dared to threaten her?!

Ji Lili felt like she was making a fool of herself while Shangguan Ning was in total control of the situation.

How could Shangguan Ning have changed so much. She was not like this at all.

Ji Lili had always claimed to be a “princess” and she did live a life like one but as of this moment, she felt that Shangguan Ning was the queen, no less.

Sure, she had been dominating and threatening Shangguan Ning with Huang Xinyin, but things seemed to have changed. Strangely, she was the one who felt threatened now.

She calmly texted Jing Yichen that she was going to attend Ji Lili’s banquet. Then she drove home, ate something and waited for Ji Lili’s text.

She had wanted to ask Uncle if her cousin had come back home, butt after giving it much thought,she didn’t end up making that call.

Ji Lili had no axe to grind, against Huang Xinyi. She was just using her as bait, in order to make Shangguan Ning attend her birthday banquet, so as to make her lose face somehow.

A short while later, Shangguan Ning received the time and venue of the party from an unknown number – Eight o’clock tonight, at The Royal Crown.

Shangguan Ning’s wasn’t pleased when she saw this address.

This was the most luxurious hotel in A City and she had had two very bad experiences, on both her visits there. She did not want to go for the party tonight, but she knew that she had no choice.
