Chapter 483: Responsible Noah
Married To My Billionaire Stepbrother
As they reached the outside of the VIP suite of the hospital, Meira noticed John and Ryan standing guard. Both were exchanging meaningful glances with Noah.
She had seen these two around oftenâthey were Natalieâs bodyguardsâand had also seen Noah speaking to them frequently.
Noah knocked on the door and looked at Meira as he opened it. "You can head inside."
She quietly entered the suite. Once the door closed, Noah turned to John and Ryan, who were giving him sleazy smirks.
"Whatâs wrong?" he asked.
The two looked at each other and then grinned at Noah.
"Playing the good husband now?" Ryan asked, his gaze teasing.
"Want to get beaten up?" Noah replied in a warning tone.
Ryan looked at John. "They say a man changes after marriage. First our boss proved it, and now our friendâs walking the same path."
"Let him have his fun," John added with a teasing tone.
"Seems like your back has healed completely," Noah said sarcastically. "Forgot the punishment already?"
John scoffed. "You shouldâve gone harder when you were the one tasked to punish me. See? The wounds are long goneâno trace left."
"Donât argue with us. Go back to your wife," Ryan commented playfully. "You might be inspired to have babies soon if you see her holding them."
Noah shot a glare at the two. "Say that in front of her, and youâll see what I do."
Ryan was about to retort, but John stopped him. "Weâve teased him enough," he said, then looked at Noah. "We were just messing with you. We didnât mean anything."
"You better," Noah warned. "She is young and doesnât need to hear nasty things from you or anyoneâeven by mistake."
"Sorry," Ryan said in a serious tone, then returned to his usual self. "But I canât guarantee we wonât tease you again. Weâre friends, after all, and itâs very rare to get anything to tease you about."
"Meet me later when youâre not working," Noah said in a warning tone before turning to enter the suite. His expression returned to normalâcalm and composed.
"Did we overdo it?" Ryan asked.
"Certainly," John replied.
"Iâm just happy to know heâs married. Sheâs young, but she is an adult, isnât she? Whatâs wrong with that?"
"Only he knows," John commented, and both of them returned to their duties.

Meira was stunned to see the babies sleeping in the crib. "Itâs my first time seeing real babies," she said as she knelt next to the crib. "They are so adorable."
"Arenât they?" Sebastian commented, already there. Both of them admired the babies. "I even held them a while ago before you arrived."
Meira looked at him. "You did? It must have felt like holding a soft toy."
"Even better than that," Sebastian replied.
Meira looked at Natalie. "When will they wake up?"
"Not sure yet," Natalie replied. "Their schedule doesnât seem fixed yet."
Sebastian knew why she was asking and said, as he patted her head to console her, "Donât worry, there will be a time when you can hold them as well."
Meira hummed. "Can I take pictures of them? I want to show them to Mom."
"Mom?" Sebastian asked, while others looked at her.
Meira nodded. "Ms Handrix. We decided Iâll call her mother as well."
"Oh, great," Sebastian commented.
Justin and Natalie looked at each other, as he had told her before that Meira and Serena were getting along well. Both must have decided it. It was a good thing. Now the little one would feel like she had a complete family.
"Before leaving, I told her Iâll click pictures of the babies for her to see," Meira informed. "Iâll take them without using a flash."
She clicked a few pictures and was content to see them.
As they sat and talked for a while, Meira was ready to leave.
"Going back home?" Sebastian asked. "Letâs go together."
Before Meira could agree, Justin said, "Noah, arenât you his boss? Are you fine with letting your employee clock out even before office hours are over?"
Noah looked at the young man. "Sebastian, the file we were working on before coming hereâI want it ready before office hours are over."
Sebastian sighed. "There is no limit to your bullying," he said to Justin. "You were mean when you were my brother and turned even worse when you became my brother-in-law."
"Noah, make sure you make him work like a bull," Justin commented.
"Yes, Mr Handrix," Noah said as he looked at Sebastian.
"Alright, I am leaving," Sebastian said to Noah, and then leaned closer to Meira and whispered something to her.
A smile painted her lips at whatever he said, and then the two looked at each other.
"See you tonight," Sebastian said while smiling and left.
The next moment, her gaze met with Noahâs and, as usual, she stopped smiling and looked away.
"Brother, Iâll take my leave then," Meira said and walked towards the door after offering a nod to Natalie.
Noah stood up as well, ready to leave with her. She stopped and looked at him, "Umm... I know the way now. I can return on my own." She didnât want to trouble him.
"The driver just messaged and said thereâs an issue with your car. It will take a while to take care of it," Noah said. "Iâll drop you home before heading back to the office."
Meira could only agree and walked out with him.
Once the door was closed, Natalie looked at Justin, "Woh! Noah is so smooth and thoughtful, isnât he?" Her remark was amused and sarcastic both.
"He had always been good at carrying out responsibilities given to him," Justin replied flatly, resuming his work.
"Justin, donât act in front of me. Tell me whatâs going on?" Natalie asked.
"You are overthinking," Justin replied in a busy tone. "Stop dramatizing everything between two people just because you are free and getting bored."
She huffed, "Are you trying to anger me? Then tell me why didnât you let Sebastian take Meira home?"
"Itâs not about Meira, itâs about how Sebastian needs to value his boss Noah and get his permission, as these are the working hours," Justin explained. "Just because Sebastian is a family member, it doesnât give him the right to slack off at work and break the rules. Most importantly, he is not allowed to look down at Noah."
"Yeah, so righteous of you and your assistant Noah," Natalie said sarcastically.
"He is no longer my assistant now, but the head of the Imperial City branch of NextEra," Justin countered.
"Got it, Mr. Handrix," she said and lay back in bed. "So useless to have you around when you donât even want to entertain me by helping with my dramatic thoughts. What a waste."
"Close your eyes and rest, before the babies wake up and wonât let you sleep for long," Justin reminded her.
Though there were nurses to take care of the babies, Natalie had to do her job of feeding the two babies, who liked to cling to her for long. She quickly closed her eyes, ready for a short nap. She could argue with Justin later.
