Chapter 1047: Amon's thoughts

"Send more reinforcements to the left flank! The left flank is falling!"

"Our men there are strong; they'll think of something!"

"The right flank is about to collapse too!"

"What are you doing over there? Get us more food! Hah hah hah!"

"....." Amon stood still next to the portals, his hearts pounding heavily at times and stopping at others.

His entourage around him was divided. Some averted their gaze from the losses they were suffering, hoping for the best. To them, the lives of their demon brothers were of no value. The rapid growth of their younglings and their vast numbers had ingrained in them from birth the notion that a demon's life was less significant than a good meal to strengthen another demon. So, it didn't matter if large numbers died as long as their enemies also perished. The other part of Amon's entourage noticed what was happening. They understood that the problem didn't end with the number of dead but extended to the potential for defeat and annihilation. They were indeed trying to find solutions, but foolish, weightless ones. What could Amon do when hearing, "The left flank needs reinforcements"? Where would he get reinforcements from?!

"Go and help them! What are you doing standing next to me? Go!" When Amon had enough of the chatter and realized his advisors wouldn't give him any good counsel, he started pushing them toward the battle, even kicking one of them on the backside.

Amon returned to silence, watching his nine advisors-high-ranking demon emperors- making their way to the battlefield. This was the last reinforcement he could think of.

Sixty minutes had passed since the battle began, and thirty minutes since the Supreme General Sakaar requested a reprieve. So far, roughly 500,000 soldiers from the Great Serpent Empire had arrived, along with 700 martial emperors, with more generals, and ships. And more were still coming.

In contrast, the entire army Amon had planned to bring-300,000 demons and 300 demon emperors-had all arrived. The portals had stopped, no longer producing anyone.

If Amon withdrew his southern forces and the worst came to pass-if the southern army of the Great Serpent Empire marched northward-the demons would be utterly annihilated.

Amon's gaze shifted toward the heart of the besieged city.

Cesare, Richard, and Hulak were locked in legendary duels against enemy marshals, their clashes shaking the very fapric of space. Meanwhile, Supreme General Sakaar was waging his own war against 400 high-ranking martial emperors, flanked by the ancient and awe- inspiring Tree Father. Everything happening inside the city was a spectacle of raw power and defiance.

These were the pivotal figures of the battlefield, each a force unto themselves, each engaged in a titanic struggle.

"Give me an hour, and I'll kill these 400 high-ranking martial emperors and come to assist you."

Such words were beyond belief. Kill 400 high-ranking martial emperors? Even the mighty five Warlords were struggling to hold their ground against just 100 of them! And then come assist in halting an army numbering in the hundreds of thousands, bolstered by a thousand martial

emperors?

What kind of arrogance fueled Sakaar to speak such words?

Sakaar... He was a demon, just like him. A few decades ago he was trying to hide in caves to keep his life, just like him. Why is there so much gap between them now!?

"... What am I doing here?" Amon muttered under his breath, the weight of his inadequacy crashing down on him. His legs began to move, almost of their own accord. "I'm no strategist. I'm a warrior."

With a resounding BOOM, Amon launched himself into the fray, his figure a blur of raw power and determination as he charged headlong into the battlefield.@@novelbin@@
