Chapter 78
Love’s Cunning Ruse ( Mr.Kieran And Julie )
Chapter 78
Joyce was getting cheekier and sneakier these days. She knew how to find loopholes in his words and make him contradict himself
However, thereâs always a look on Kieranâs face that Julie cant understand
The man driving was the one she had loved deeply for years but also the one she had never understood.
The car was parked in the underground garage, and Julie started to think about how to deal with their landlord, Adolf. All her belongings were in Adolfs house, and she had to figure out how to get them back.
But Kieran seemed to have hit Adolf quite hard with the mop today, so maybe all of Julieâs belongings together werenât enough to cover Adolfâs medical bills
Julie was very focused on her thoughts, and didnât notice where the car was parked
When the elevator stopped on the first floor, she realized she was in a mall.
They can imagine how many people would stare at a man in a bathrobe leading a limping woman through a busy mall.
In the mall lobby, all eyes were on Kieran and Julie.
Julie quickly covered her face with her hands.
âWhat are you doing? Arenât we supposed to go to a fast food restaurant?â she asked Kieran, her voice muf fled by her hands.
Kieran calmly responded, âIn a bathrobe?â
âYou know you canât go to a fast food restaurant in a bathrobe, so why did you come to the mall in one? Julle retorted. âAre you trying to embarrass yourself?â
She turned around and saw Kieran wearing sunglasses and a mask, looking very composed
It turned out he was fully prepared. But didnât anyone tell him that wearing a bathrobe with sunglasses and a mask made him look even weirder? Not 10 mention the limping woman next to him
Julie didnât want to talk anymore, and she just pulled Kieran into the nearest clothing store. She pointed at the suit on the mannequin at the entrance and said to the saleswoman, âHave him try this on
Kieran seemed to enjoy having someone pick out clothes for him, so as soon as they entered the store, he sat on the sofa and watched Julie elegantly
The saleswoman brought a low-key dark gray suit and handed it to Julie.
Julie shoved the clothes into Kieranâs arms âGet changed.
Kieran took the clothes and went into the fitting room leisurely. The saleswomen outside started to whisper to each other.
âHe looks just like Mr. Hernandez!â
âI thought so, too! If it wasnât for the bathrobe, I would have thought Mr. Hernandez was visiting the store!
âHe really does look like himâ
âWhy donât you go ask him?â one of the saleswomen suggested to a short girl, then glanced at Julie.
The mall was owned by Kieran, which Julie only found out by overhearing the saleswomenâs whispers.
She had heard the saleswomenâs conversation earlier, but she figured they wouldnât ask her directly, so she pretended not to hear.
However, she didnât expect the short girl to actually come up to her after being egged on several times and ask, âExcuse me, is that man Mr. Hernander?â
Without hesitation, Julie answered, âNoâ
âAre you sure? He looks a lot like Mr. Hernandez
âJoyce, do you like this suit?â Kieran came out of the fitting room wearing a dark grey suit.
He took off his sunglasses, revealing his deep and refined features.
Julie had just denied that he was Kieran, and the next second, he revealed his true face. What a surprise!
âOh my god, Mr. Hernandez?â The store manager was also startled and stared at Kieran in surprise.
Kieran walked up
fo
Julie, gently put his hand on her shoulder, and said with a smile to the store manager, âKieran? People often say I look like him. My girlfriend Joyce often gets us mixed up, but that jerk Mr. Hernandez from Simpo Co. is a total jerk. Joyce hates him, so please donât say I look like him.
Julie turned around and gave Kieran a wide-eyed look. She wanted to ask: Mr. Hernandez, how can you talk about yourself like that so casually? Donât you trip over your words?
Even if he didnât want to admit that he was Kieran, he didnât have to go this far, did he?
How could he admit that he was a jerk so easily? But what he said made sense.
Kieranâs words left the saleswomen at a loss for words.
âAre you buying this suit or not?â Julie deliberately ignored Kleranâs last remark and got back to the point.
And Kieran asked her again. âDo you like it?â
Was he asking for her opinion? Come on, heâs the CEO of Simpo Co., he can wear whatever he wanted. Even if he needed advice, thatâs his stylistâs job. What did it have to do with her?
âSo if I say it doesnât look good, you wonât buy it?â Julie replied sarcastically

Kieran nodded seriously and said, âYes, whatever you say goesâ
âThen I want you to Julie started to say, then suddenly said, âGo payâ
Kieran knew that wasnât what Julie had intended to say If he had to guess, she probably wanted to say. Then I want you to go die, right?
Kieran laughed and then handed his card to one of the saleswomen.
After paying. Kieran suddenly asked Julie. Do you want me to buy you a wheelchair?â
âStop bothering me, and youâre the only wheelchair I see!â Julie felt like sheâd been holding back for a long time, and now it all come out.
Kieran put the white bathrobe he had taken off into a shopping bag, then followed Julie and said, âReally? Then you should buy me, Iâll help you walk. Just name a price, and Iâll give myself a discountâ
He thought Julie would be angry or simply ignore him.
But to his surprise, she turned around and asked him, âHow much can you knock off?â
âHow much do you want me to knock off?â
âKnock you offâ
Kieran should have known this woman wouldnât be easy to please
Kieran and Julie arrived at the fast food joint, and Julie realized it had moved up to the top floor of the mall. The once few-cents meal deal was now a few bucks, thanks to the new location. Even her favorite big burger had jumped to six dollars.
If sheâd known it was going to be this pricey, she wouldnât have offered to pick up the tab.
The joint had gotten a fancy makeover, even expanded. Guess the price hike was somewhat justified.
Kieran led Julie inside, picking a quiet spot to sit
The owner recognized Julie right away âIsnât this the gal who always orders the who pper with cheese?â he asked Kieran. They seemed tight.
Julie chuckled and nodded, âYou got it, boss. Iâm having the who pper againâ
The owner glanced between Julie and Kieran, then prepared their order, all smiled.
Kieran fetched some sodas, passing Julie a Fanta, âSo, howie you going to deal with Adolf?â
âPay them off she answered, figuring Laurelâs greed would demand a hefty sum
It was what it was. Julie didnât see any other way out.
Kieran wasnât thrilled with the answer, but he went along with it. I was the one who hit him Ill cover whatever they ask. Deduct it from what you owe me.â Julie didnât argue.
Still, since the trouble started because of her, she felt it fair to tell Kieran, âLetâs split inâ
Kieran paused, soda in hand. Their relationship really had grown distant. Maybe it was time to do something about it.
Not wanting to offend Julie, Kieran finally nodded, âAlright.â
Their meals arrived, Julieâs burger and Kieranâs steak. After such a hectic day, Julie was starving. She started chowing down, throwing etiquette to the
wind.
Kieran was hungry too, but he hadnât even touched his steak, too engrossed in watching Julie, forgetting his own hunger.
âYou should move,â Kieran suddenly said to Julie
She looked up at him, mouth full of burger, puzzled.
âSimpo Co. and Accolade Law Firm offer employee housing. Find somewhere safe to stay,â Kieran put down his cutlery, looking at Julle seriously.
âWe may be divorced, but you donât have to live this hard.â
Julie had no clue what was going on Just this morning, she was slandered, her hair pulled, and accused of being a homewrecker. Then, she barely avoided an assault from her landlord.
This was the worst day Julie had had since their divorce five years ago, and he just happened to be there.
Was she embarrassed? Humiliated?
Definitely.
But,
âLike you said, weâre divorced. Have been for five years. So, whatever Iâm going through has nothing to do with you,â
With that, Julie went back to her burger.
What once tasted heavenly now seemed just okay.
Watching Julie bite into her burger, Kieran couldnât help but reach out, grabbing her wrist, trying to stop her.
Summoning all her strength, Julie shook off Kieranâs hand, finally losing her patience. She slammed down her burger, cheese-covered patty and onion rings sca tt ered all over the plate. âWhat the hell do you want? I loved you so much, but you kept pushing me away. When I was about to give up on you, you decided to marry me. I loved you deeply, but you pretended to love me back and got me pregnant. Just when i was basking in the joy of pregnancy. my best friend told me she and you had a thing. I was pregnant for ten months, and you took care of me meticulously, but on the day I gave birth, you stood outside the operating room, choosing to save Berthaâs baby. Are you sch izo phrenic? love you even gave up my dignity, not just to be
dispensable part of your life. Kieran, Iâm human, too. I have feelings. I hurt, too. Please, leave me alone. Canât you leave me alone?â
