Chapter 279
Love’s Cunning Ruse ( Mr.Kieran And Julie )
Chapter 279
Haydenâs sixth team was the elite of the aviation squad, trained by Miles.
When the aviation squad arrived at Sycamore Village, the yacht had lost contact for nearly three hours. Along with the elite squad came Payne and Julien.
As usual, he was carrying a large backpack. Karl took Ivan back to Whispering Pines in his private jet. And Kieran didnât tell Ivan about Julieâs disappearance.
For Payne, being on the same plane as Julien was an exciting experience. However, if Julien knew Payne was on the plane, she probably wouldnât have gotten on it.
The town wasnât large, and there were only two small yachts docked at the coast. The town didnât rely on the sea for its livelihood but rather on tourism. The small yachts were mainly chartered for tourist groups.
However, both yachts had disappeared simultaneously. As the helicopter hovered over the sea, Payne was glued to his computer, his fingers dancing on the keyboard.
âCan you track the ships?â asked Julien, speaking to Payne for the first time since boarding the plane.
Despite his admiration for her, Payne was unhappy with her questioning his expertise.
âOf course, the ships are tracked via satellite signals. Canât a genius like me hack intò a satellite navigation system?â he retorted. As soon as he finished speaking, he suddenly tapped on the keyboard, crawled over to the pilot, and announced the coordinates.
The plane quickly headed towards the two yachts.
Half an hour later, they finally caught up.
However, both yachts, which had been moving, were now stationary in the water when Kieran arrived. One of them was leaking, and the whole yacht was tilting towards the sea. The other was simply floating quietly on the water, with no sign of life.
-The plane circled above the undamaged yacht.
Kieran was the first to land on the deck. Julien grabbed the team leaderâs gun and handed it to Kieran. After catching it accurately, Julien also jumped down, leaving Payne alone in the plane, sticking half of his body out of the plane to look down.
From Payneâs point of view, this was no different than a suicide mission!
He was seasick, okay?
Julien and Kieran split up. Julien checked the cabins, while Kieran headed straight for the cockpit.
In the end, Julien came back empty-handed, but Kieran found the unconscious captain in the cockpitâ¦
âIf sheâs not here, thenâ¦â Julienâs words trailed off as suddenlyâ¦
âDonât move!â a group of men in life jackets surrounded Julien and Kieran.
Julien recognized the voice as familiar. She stood still until a man suddenly walked
up to herâ¦
This man, known as Gentry, had a missing arm. He had crossed paths with Julien before, worked under Miles, and then pleaded for Miles to spare him for a woman, cutting off his own arm as a price.
Julien had also worked under Miles. They both served the same beast, theyâre not exactly close, but they shared common experiences that outsiders wouldnât understand.
Gentry recognized Julien as well. He didnât know Julienâs real name, but he called out in surprise, âCanary?â
Julien glanced at the gun pointing at her spine.
Gentry hurriedly waved his hand, and all his men put away their guns, though surprised.
âHow did
you end I up here?â Gentry asked. They didnât know each otherâs real names, but Julien was well known as Canary. However, others didnât know her gender or appearance.
After following Hayden, Julien had only gathered information and no longer shed blood.
Julien showed Gentry a picture of Julie, âHave you seen this woman?â
Gentry took a close look at the photo and then at Kieran standing next to Julien. He shook his head and replied, âNo.â
âWhat about these two yachtsâ¦â Julien asked, implying she didnât quite believe what Gentry had said.
Gentry knew Canary was a tough character, so he added, âI was chasing someone here. There are rules here, so I canât tell you who it was, but I was set up. The ship had problems. Buti havenât seen the woman in Canaryâs photo.â
âThen who were you chasing?â Julien asked.
Gentry cursed, âThe bastard ran away. I knew it wasnât going to be easy. We followed the ship all the way here, but all we found was an unconscious waste.
Gentry looked at Kieranâs serious face and whispered to Canary, âCanary, spare me. I promise as soon as I hear anything about this girl, Iâll contact you immediately.â
Kieran, upon learning Julie wasnât here, left the group and got back on the plane. He then told Payne, âLook for nearby islands, send everyone to look for her, search with all you might.â
Julien looked at Gentry and warned, âThe police will be here in half an hour.â
With that, she had done Gentry a favor.,
After Julien had left, the henchman who had just pointed a gun at Julien, approached Gentry, whispering, âMr. Gentry, why are you so respectful to a chick?â
With the handle of his gun, Gentry hit him on the head, answering with a sarcastic smile, âA chick?â
The henchman rubbed his sore head.
Gentry pointed to his amputated arm, âI can kill you with one shot, and the chick youâre disregarding can kill both of us with a single shot. She taught me how to shoot. Should I respect her
or not?â
So, which hand of his that had just pointed a gun at her back? The henchman nervously rubbed his arm and asked Gentry, âSo, Mr. Gentry, are we still going to search this area?â
âSearch your ass! Whatâs the difference between opposing Kieran and opposing the young master? If Hayden can overthrow his own father, do we stand a chance?â Gentry slapped the henchman hard on the head, âWhat kind of job have you accepted? That blonde guy following him doesnât seem like an easy target. Do you know who the employer is?â The henchman shook his head, âThe employer offered six million, just to teach that man a lesson, to scare him. He didnât mention his identity, but with such a huge sumâ¦â âGet out!â Gentry kicked him, âIf that man hadnât been injured, we wouldnât even have seen his shadow! Six million, and you didnât realize why he is worth that much?â
âMr. Gentry, didnât you say that in our line of work, we shouldnât be afraid of those we canât mess with, but those who donât pay?â The henchman whispered. Gentry patted him on the face, âLet me add to that; donât fear those who donât pay, fear those who take lives! Got it?â
Originally, Julie thought she would be held hostage by Kleist indefinitely. However, to her surprise, Kleist ordered the captain to leave her and the young masterâ on a deserted island.
The yacht then reversed course, presumably ready to engage another yacht. Before leaving, Kleist handed the only gun to the young master.
The purpose was to let the young master hold the gun and force Julie to take care of him.
Even though this man was injured, Julie knew she couldnât snatch the gun from him. After she had taken care of his wound, he didnât ask for her help to board the yacht. Although his face was as pale as a sheet, his steps were extraordinarily firm.
Youâre not going to kill me, are you?â Julie asked the man hopefully, âYou have no reason to kill an innocent. If you manage to escape with Kleist later, could you knock me unconscious and leave me on the yacht? I donât know who you are, and I absolutely wonât tell anyone about what happened todayâ¦â
âWill you shut up if I kill you?â He slowly followed her, casually holding the gun.
Julie immediately covered her mouth and decided to keep quiet.
She carried a large backpack prepared by Kleist, filled with food and medical supplies.
She had only intended to investigate the truth about Zenith, not to survive in the wilderness of a deserted island.
A chill crept into Julieâs heart, but thinking that Kieran was definitely looking for her, she felt somewhat reassured.
Considering the isolation of the island, Julie knew her priority wasnât escaping, but surviving under the threat of his gun.
So, she had to hold on and live for as long as he didnât want to kill her!
She absentmindedly kept her distance from him while they entered deeper into the island. This place was devoid of footprints, like a deserted island cut off from the world. The surroundings felt cold and lifeless.
She took deep breaths to stay calm and distracted herself with other thoughts. However, she didnât notice the ground beneath her feet. She never thought that on this rarely visited island, a snake that should have been hibernating was under her foot.
By the time she looked down in response, the snake was hissing and approaching her.
This was the creature Julie feared most in her life!
Just when she was frozen in fear⦠unexpectedly, the man who had been following her suddenly scooped her up in his arms, lifting her off the groundâ¦
