Chapter 239
Love’s Cunning Ruse ( Mr.Kieran And Julie )
Chapter 239
âBut, how do we explain this?â Dylan pulled up a chair and sat down in front of Julieâs hospital bed, saying, âThe guy from yesterday wanted you dead, the guy from today wanted to snatch the ring off your hand. The ring was a gift from Kyle, why would he give you a ring and then try to take it back? Is there something wrong with him?â
Julie tried to express, Iâm not saying this was all Kyleâs doing, but rather that everything happened after Kyle showed up. I just think somethingâs wrong.â
âIndeed, everything happened after Kyle showed up, but according to reliable sources, Lucian was also in the country during this period. Itâs hard to know where he is most of the time, the only confirmed news is that he stayed at the Opulent Skyline Suites, but then the person in the hotel room turned out to be Kyle. The more I think about it, the more it seems like too much of a coincidence.â
âDidnât we get the hotel surveillance footage? What were the results?â Kieran asked.
As soon as the surveillance footage was mentioned, Dylan got a bit excited, âI came to see you today to talk about this, but I didnât expect such a big thing to happen. Iâve confirmed the surveillance footage.â
Dylan took out a few pictures and handed them to Kieran, âThese are screenshots from the surveillance footage. From the video, thereâs no way Kyle and Lucian could have communicated, this footage has been confirmed by Payne Hernandez, and itâs not been tampered with in any way. These pictures youâre holding are of Bruce pushing Lucian into the hotel, Lisa checking in Kyle alone, and Lisa going to pick up Kyle. From this surveillance footage, thereâs no intersection between the three of them.â
Dylanâs clear explanation was meant to express that where the surveillance could see, there was no intersection between the three, so in places the surveillance
couldnât see, it was hard to be sure.
âWhat do you think?â Julie suddenly looked up at Kieran, because from the beginning to now, Kieran had been silent.
He was a thoughtful and meticulous man, if he didnât speak his mind, no one would know what he was thinking.
The silent Kieran suddenly spoke to Dylan, âWhatâs bound to happen will happen, since weâre prepared, letâs just wait and see.â
Dylan had always believed that for them, the best strategy is to respond to changes without changing.
So Dylan nodded, then handed the car keys to Kieran, âIâll continue to investigate, I guess your wife might be scared, you guys go home first. Iâll let you know as soon as I have any news.â
Kieran nodded to Dylan, then watched him leave.
He turned to look at the bandage on Julieâs neck, frowning in distress, âI failed to protect you.â
She clutched the manâs outstretched hand and smiled faintly, âHow can you protect me all the time?â
Kieran smiled, âThen Iâll have to stick around you all the time.â
âYou honey -tongued guy!â
Suddenly, Julie tightened her grip on Kieranâs hand, looking at him, âIs Sansa in danger?â
âThereâs someone protecting her, donât worry.â Kieran paused for a moment, then told Julie, âIf you agree, we can transfer Sansa to Tranquil Care Hospital. Itâs Hardingâs hospital, more secure than Oakhurst Hospital. And Iâve contacted Professor Fred, heâs agreed to help Sansa.â
âReally?â Hearing Fredâs name, Julieâs face immediately lit up with joy.
Looking at Julieâs reaction, although Kieran felt heartache, he still said, âYou said before that there should be no secrets between us, right?â
âWhat are you going to tell me?â She put away the joy on her face and frowned at Kieran.
He nodded, telling her, âI found Professor Fred a week ago, but he refused me at the time. Although he didnât explicitly state the reason, based on his reaction, I think he must have his reasons. Unless we can threaten his life, he will absolutely not accept Sansa.â
âWhy did he suddenly agree?â Julie asked.
Kieran shook his head, âI think someone might have threatened him, thatâs the most likely reason.â
âWhat should we do then?â Julie asked, âFred is the only one who can possibly cure Sansa, if thereâs even a glimmer of hope, I want to try. Do you already have an
answer?â
Kieran said, âA week ago, Dr. Brice reached an agreement with us and became a member of the Tranquil Care Hospital. When Sansa is transferred, Dr. Brice will continue to be her primary physician. Tomorrow afternoon, Professor Fred will come here, and I will try to persuade him to assist Dr. Brice. If someone really wants Fred close to Sansa, even he will accept the role of assisting physician.â
Julie thought Kieranâs words made sense, so she nodded, âLetâs invite Fred for dinner tomorrow?â
Kieran thought it was a good suggestion, so he nodded, âIâll try to arrange it.â
He stood up, holding her hand, âLetâs go home.â
Julie didnât offer to drive again, but obediently sat in the passenger seat, she suddenly turned and looked at him, saying, âHoney, Iâve noticed that every time I drive something goes wrong.â
âWhat did you say?â Kieran protended not to hear clearly.
Julie said, âI said every time I drive something goes wrong.â
âWhat did you say before that?â
âHoneyâ¦â she called out, suddenly realizing, âMr. Hernandez, youâre teasing me again!â
Kieran laughed, âI really like that title.â
âIâve wrecked three cars now, Mr. Hernandez, youâve married a woman who wrecks your cars!â She analyzed seriously.
Kieran couldnât help laughing, âConsidering how pretty this woman is, Iâll let it slide.â
âI thought youâd say, youâd let it slide, considering I birthed your son! So, Mr. Hernandez, youâre a sucker for looks.â
âIâve always been a fan of daughters. If you had a girl, Iâd be over the moon.â He caressed her head with one hand, fingers sifting through her silky hair.
She brushed his hand away and tidied up her hair, âHypothetically speaking, if I have the fortune of having a daughter in the future, what kind of prize would you give me? A car? A house?â
âThese are so ordinary,â He said.
Julie twisted her head glaring at him, chuckling, âThen tell me, what isnât ordinary?â
âMe.â
âWhat, are you going to gift yourself to me?â She rolled her eyes, a hint of dissatisfaction at the corner of her mouth.
He nodded seriously, âClever girl.â
âYouâre a smooth operator,â She said, suddenly remembering something, she extended her hand to Kieran, âMy phoneâs out of battery, can I borrow yours?â
âItâs in my pants pocket.â
One of his hands was free, but Julie saw that he had put that hand on the steering wheel, both hands clenched the wheel, very serious. Reluctantly, Julie reached into his tailored trousers for the phone. The outlines of his thighs and the shape of the phone were clearly visible under the thin fabric.
She needed to check on Daphne, so even knowing he was doing it on purpose, she still reached into his pocket.
Her hand slipped into his pocket. Despite the heater being on in the car, Julieâs hands were still cold. Her chilly fingers brushed his leg through the fabric, and she could feel him tense up.
âWhy are you so nervous?â Julie was the one being toyed with, but now it seemed like the tables had turned, and it was Ms. Abraham who was teasing Mr. Hernandez.
Seeing his tense expression, she raised an eyebrow, her voice suddenly softening, âYouâre so tense, I canât get the phone. Relax, I wonât do anythingâ
They were at a stoplight, so safety wasnât an issue. Despite her words, she pinched him lightly in his pocket.
Normally, the thick-skinned Mr. Hernandez would brush off such a tease. But when he first started teasing Ms. Abraham, he thought the same.
Incredibly, when her chilly fingers brushed his thigh, his mind flashed back to waking up the morning after a night of drinking.
Recalling Dylanâs words, âWere you masturbating all night?â
Not only did he fail to win Mrs. Hernandezâs heart, he spent a lonely night, even dreaming about wearing a bra. The image hit Mr. Hernandezâs brain hard, causing him to feel uneasy. He quickly grabbed Julieâs hand, pulled out the phone, and shoved it into her chest.
This unexpected turn of events left Julie in shock. Was her husband celibate?
She took the phone, and couldnât help but steal another glance at Mr. Hernandez in the driverâs seat.
He started the car, drove through the green light, and parked in the open-air parking lot of the pedestrian street. Suddenly, he turned to Julie and said, âHow about we get out and walk around?â
âWhat?â
âItâs stuffy in here, letâs walk around before we head back home,â he said.
His mind was filled with vague memories, not conducive for driving. Finally, Kieran got out of the car first, leading a confused Julie towards the pedestrian street.
Julie, holding the phone, was abruptly pulled out of the car by him.
Go shopping with Mr. Hernandez, even the thought of it felt surreal!
