Chapter 197
Love’s Cunning Ruse ( Mr.Kieran And Julie )
Chapter 197
âEver heard of the Fitzgerald family?â
Even if Julie was the last person to catch up with the latest gossip, she had heard of this well-known family. She nodded, but was clueless about the connection between the Fitzgerald family and Sansaâs donation.
âThe first heir of the Fitzgerald family is Simon, does he ring a bell?â
âIsnât he a super mysterious gal? There are no pictures of his in the newspapers. Iâve heard her name, but never met her,â Julie replied.
Kieran gazed at her thoughtfully, âSimon set up a fund to aid special global cases, targeting challenging diseases and specific cancer patients. The donation Sansa received came from the Fitzgerald family.â
âI heard from Dr. Brice that it was a donation from a charity organization, and the donor requested anonymity. How could it possibly be related to the Fitzgerald family?â Julie was puzzled. She tried to retrieve all the information related to the family from her memory, but couldnât find a reasonable answer.
âAfter learning about the untraceable funds, I had Karl investigate the charity organization and track it down. The final conclusion was that the donation was related to Simon from the Fitzgerald family. Think hard, do you have any info about this person?â
Despite Julieâs careful recollection, her mind was still a blank slate.
âMy understanding of this family mainly comes from newspapers, websites, and mentions by Daphne. The name Simon is also unfamiliar to me, Iâve only heard it once or twice,â Julie stated.
Kieran mused, and Julie thought carefully for a while before speaking, âSansaâs condition isnât unique, itâs not a typical challenging disease. Although I believe Karlâs investigation, Simon wouldnât just donate money to a common patient, right?â
Sansa was in a vegetative state. Doctors said she could potentially wake up, but the odds were slim. The reason Julie was unwilling to pull the plug was because she always thought Sansa was the only person in the world related to her by blood. It was Sansa who orchestrated Julie and Kieran getting together. Though what she did was despicable, Julie, as the victim, could not hate her. Sansa was the only one who knew the Abraham family was going bankrupt yet still cared about Julie wholeheartedly.

After pondering for a long time, Julic finally said to Kieran, âIf helping Sansa was Simonâs idea, could it possibly be because Simon and Sansa knew each other? Otherwise, theoretically, an heir busy handling family affairs wouldnât single out a vegetative patient for support, especially when she isnât a special case.â
âMaybe!â Kieran had no obligation to tell Julie this, but he did anyway.
Julie was grateful for Kieranâs honesty and sharing, just that the sudden mention of Sansa made the topic heavier.
She leaned on the desk, hesitated for a while, and finally looked at Kieran, âI actually have something to confess to you as well.â
As Julie stuttered, Kieran knew she had something to say that made her feel guilty. So he comforted her by patting her shoulder, silently giving her the courage to speak.
Finally, Julie looked at Kieran and revealed something she lacked the courage to say many years ago, âOn your birthday that year, you were drugged at the Starlight Haven Hotel. The person who drugged youâ¦â
âWas Sansa, I know.â He stood in front of Julie, gently moved his hand from her shoulder and placed it on the desk behind her, bent over slightly, and trapped her in his arms.
At the moment Kieran said the answer, Julie was shocked. Years ago, she thought about telling Kieran the truth, but it was all Sansaâs careful design, and the result of the design was just to give herself a good ending. She couldnât imagine what would happen after Kieran knew the truth, so she started hiding it, gradually turned into self-deception and didnât dare to speak up. Until now, when she finally mustered the courage to confess, he suddenly told her that he knew from the beginning.
At this moment, Julie didnât know how to react.
But he just said to her from less than ten centimeters away, âHow could I not check someone who drugged me right under my nose? And if I checked, how could I not find out?â
So, he knew from the beginning that everything was Sansaâs careful design, knew from the start that the two of them being caught in bed at the hotel was a setup.
âWhy would you willingly jump into a trap knowing it was a trap?â He could have chosen not to marry her and not take responsibility, because all this was just a play directed by the Abraham family.
If Kieran had made the truth public back then, it wouldnât have affected the Hernandez familyâs reputation at all, but it would surely have pushed the Abraham family into an irreparable situation.
But he didnât expose Sansaâs lie, instead, he brought Julie home. During the first two years of their marriage, she and Kieran were really happy, whether it was because she was easily satisfied or because Kieran was indeed good to her, his small gestures made her feel happy and satisfied.
When Julie asked Kieran why he willingly jumped into the trap, Kieran simply said, âBecause of love.â
A plain and straightforward answer, simple yet it warmed her heart.
Julie was silent. Kieran reached out and gently touched her forehead, asking her indulgently, âWhatâs on your mind?â
âI was wondering if I had been a bit more reserved that night at Starlight Haven Hotel, would you have had some fun with that sexy long-haired woman, especially when her dress was already down to her waist.â
âThat woman was called by Annalise Hansen,â Kieran explained, he himself found it hard to imagine what he would have done if Julie hadnât shown up that night.
Julie suddenly laughed, âYour aunt really cares about you, blocking your admirers when you were little, and even helping you pick girlfriends when you grew up. Sheâs amazing!â
âEven she couldnât block you,â he gently pinched her face.
As a child, Julie did look like a promising boxer, so skinny she seemed malnourished. In her twenties, she put on some weight, and after marrying him, she packed on even more pounds. It felt good to pinch her face then, but at this moment she had lost weight
Julie caught his hand, it didnât hurt when she had more weight, but with less weight, it kind of stung.
She looked up at him and said, âThe reason I wasnât blocked is because Iâm one of the special kind.â
He silently listened to Julieâs explanation.
Julie was just saying it casually, and quickly turned serious again, âIâm planning to go to the hospital later, and then go straight home. Should I take Ivan with me?â
âIâll take him home later. Iâll have Karl take you to the hospital,â Kieran suggested.
Julie quickly shook her head, âNo need, Iâm fine going by myself. Karl is your secretary, not mine.â
âShould I assign one for you?â he proposed.
âIâm just a small employee in the Legal Department, leave the luxury of having a secretary to you! Remember to hire a slim beauty.â Julie seemed to remember something and asked Kieran, âDoes Simpo Co. pay a lot for overtime?â
Kieran nodded, âItâs decent.â
âNo wonder, even though itâs Saturday, the company doesnât seem any different from a weekday.â Julie originally thought since itâs Saturday, not many people would be working overtime, so bringing Ivan along wouldnât attract too much attention, but there were more people in the company than she expected.
Kieran knew another reason Julie asked this was because he just asked Tina to distribute benefits to the employees who were working overtime.
Speaking of which.
âHoney, whereâs the card I gave you last time?â He was referring to the card Julie used to pay for the damage she caused to his car.
âAt home.â She thought for a while and asked innocently, âDo I still have to pay for the car damage?â
âDo you still owe me a child? Will you give it to me?â He counter-asked.
Julie was momentarily speechless.
âHow about you use my card from now on and your paycheck goes into your own bank account, sound good?â he proposed.
Julie thought for a moment, âI can accept that. Well, I should get going now.â
âAlright.â Kieran stood straight, making room for Julie to leave.
Julie turned around, paused for a second or two, then suddenly turned back, tiptoed to peck his cheek, then immediately turned around, grabbed her purse, and ran
off.
The shy and surprising feeling was like going back to the time when she was just learning about love.
On the way to the hospital, she couldnât help but reminisce about her wonderful yet vague childhood memories. She was so engrossed that when she got out of the taxi and walked into the hospital, she didnât even have time to dodge a child rushing towards her.
Side Story:
Daphne: Mr. Hernandez, considering that I saved your wifeâs life, could you accept a small interview with our magazine? I promise it wonât take long!
Kieran: I donât have time.
Daphne: Then we can do it over WhatsApp, just a few short conversations, I promise!
Kieran: Alright then.
Daphne: So, whatâs the Mr. Hernandezâs WhatsApp account name?
Kieran: Special Her.
Daphne: So speechless.
