Chapter 194
Love’s Cunning Ruse ( Mr.Kieran And Julie )
Chapter 194
At that moment, it felt like the air in the whole ward had frozen.
She was just being all sassy and provocative, knowing full well that he was not the kind of guy to make such a move on her. On the other hand, he was just trying to stop her childish act, but no one saw it coming, a simple action would escalate to this level.
Excited, her breath became rapid, and Kieranâs gaze involuntarily landed on her chest. At that moment, he held his breath.
The sun outside the window was bright and warming, but on their faces, it was like hot coals, making them blush. It was only when a small bird landed on the window sill and knocked the curtain open, did he snap out of it and quickly withdrew his hand.
Then, pretending to be calm, he pulled out his phone and called the doctor again, âThe center of the patientâs wound is greenish-yellow, the middle is reddish-purple, the surrounding area is dark purple, the color contrast is not high, and there are no obvious signs of bleeding.â
Julie suddenly came to her senses, hiding her entire body under the blanket, leaving only her eyes peeking at his back, feeling a layer of sweat on her forehead.
Julie didnât know what the doctor on the phone was saying, she just saw Kieran talking and walking out of the ward.
It took Julie about five or six minutes to realize that Kieran had left.
She then zoned out for another ten or so minutes before Bertha pushed open the door of the ward with some bruise healing meds in her hand and said, âYour team member asked me to bring you these. Are you okay?â
âWas it Kieran who sent you?â Julie looked at Bertha expectantly.
But Bertha shook her head, âSeems like it was Peanut.â
Peyton, Julie got it.
From that day on, she resigned from her position in the school basketball team. In her school, junior high was straight to high school. She had been the manager of the school basketball team since junior high, but due to this incident, her basketball career came to an end.
After her resignation, Peyton seemed to feel guilty. But after Peyton graduated from high school, he went abroad for college and probably had forgotten about Julie.
Looking at Kieran, Julie said nostalgically, âBack then, you took advantage but ran away, and in the end, it was Peyton who brought me the medicine. Now thinking back, you were quite shameless back then!â
âPeyton brought you medicine?â Kieran frowned and let go of Julieâs hand.
After bandaging her, he sat next to her, his obsidian-like eyes staring intently at Julieâs face.
Julie nodded, replying, âYes, bruise healing medicine, quite a variety.â
âIt seems all the credit goes to Peanut.â He glanced at her and said, âI gave Peanut some bruise healing medicine to give to Bertha.â
She turned her head in surprise, asking, âWhy did you have to go through Peyton?â
âI didnât want you to misunderstand and make you feel awkward.â He explained.
âSo you were afraid I would misunderstand that you actually like me?â Julie suddenly smiled, âTo prevent me from falling in love too early, you really put a lot of thought into it. But Kieran, being so arrogant, arenât you afraid of losing me?â
âI am.â
His response surprised her, simple and sincere. She hadnât expected an answer when she asked the question.
They looked at each other for a while, and then Julie suddenly said seriously to the man, âKieran, letâs just live a good life!â
âOkay.â He pulled her into his arms, smelling the scent of her long hair.
âI promised Ivan that Iâd go on a picnic with him on his birthday.â
âOkay.â
âHow about a barbecue?â
âOkay.â
âCan you say anything other than okay?â
âVery good.â
âWhy donât you go sleep in the other room? Okay?â She looked up at him and asked with a smile.
The man looked down at her, and kissed her red lips, leaving her unable to speak.
He had planned to just give her a light kiss, but upon contact with her soft lips, his hormones exploded instantly, invading every cell of his body. It wasnât until her tiny fingers were tightly clasped with his, did he finally control his breathing.
Gently, he reluctantly let go of the woman in his arms, âGive you another two days of rest.â
He tried hard to control himself, then kissed her forehead, âGoodnight, honey.â
The manâs back at this moment seemed a bit lonely, Julie suddenly blurted out, âHang in there, hubby, you still have your hand.â
The man turned around, his eyes shining a bit in the dark, âSo you really donât want to sleep tonight?â
âGoodnight, Mr. Hernandez.â
Julie quickly covered her head with the blanket, still able to hear the manâs voice outside the blanket, âDonât sleep with your head under the blanket.â
Hearing the sound of Kieran turning off the light, Julie slowly stuck her head out of the blanket. Not only did she smell the fresh air, but also the lingering scent of that man on the pillow, she felt very comforted.
After a good nightâs sleep, Julie woke up energized the next day.
Kieran had just returned from morning training, dressed in all white sports gear, with a white towel around his neck. Seeing the woman on the bed stretching, he put a cup of water on her bedside, bent down and kissed her forehead, âGood morning, my wife.â
The still drowsy woman took the cup of water and sipped it.
After drinking a whole cup of water, it was as if her soul had returned to its place.
With the last sip of water in her mouth, she looked up at Kieranâs room. There was no wall in between. She could clearly see the man changing his pants.
She swallowed the last sip of water, and then accidentally choked on it.
Julie lying on the bed started coughing as if her lungs were about to come out.
Kieran quickly put on his pants and ran barefoot towards the womanâs bed. He gently patted her back while scolding, âTrying to choke yourself to death as the first thing in the morning?â
After coughing for a while, Julie finally recovered, complaining while wiping her tears, âWho told you to change clothes in front of me first thing in the morning?â
She was already being reserved by not having a nosebleed!
âItâs not the first time youâve seen it.â Kieran whispered, obviously realizing his behavior was over the top.
Julie coughed a couple more times, âYou need to be more reserved in the future.â
âI will.â
Julie suddenly seemed to remember something and looked at the man seriously, âMr. Hernandez, I need a favor.â
âAs long as you change what you call me, Iâll help you.â He sat next to her, smiling slightly, and said confidently.
âYouâre agreeing without even knowing what I need help with?â
âWhat else could it be, am I going to have to strap a bomb on again?â He chuckled nonchalantly.
Julie nodded, âThatâs actually related to this.â
âI only have one requirement, no time bombs this time. Those things are a real pain, darling.â His voice softened as he spoke.
Hearing this, Julie felt herself going weak.
âStop kidding around. What I meant was, one of the men who died in the explosion the day before yesterday, his name was Neal. He had a sick daughter, Nina. I donât know his full name, but he kidnapped me to get money for his daughterâs treatment. I donât know if itâs true or not.â
âIâll have Karl look into it.â Knowing what she was going to say next, he agreed right away.
Julie grabbed his face and planted a hard kiss on him. Then she turned around to put on her robe and head to his bathroom.
The man stood stunned for a moment before following her, âAre you a woodpecker or something?â
He was referring to her pecking at his face and then leaving. Julie laughed as she brushed her teeth, âWhatâs wrong with having a woodpecker?â
The man thought about it and said, âNot bad at all.â
He then headed to the walk-in closet. Julie, wearing a white cotton bathrobe, leaned against the door and asked the man in the closet, âMr. Hernandez, did you forget to shave?â From inside the closet, the manâs voice replied, âWhat are you wearing today? I had Daniel bring new clothes last week.â
Julie finished brushing her teeth and excitedly ran to the closet.
But as soon as she pulled back the curtain, she was pushed against the wardrobe by the man.
He kissed her passionately until their breathing synchronized, then slowly let go of her.
With one hand around her waist and the other supporting her head, he leaned down to kiss her slightly flushed face, asking, âHow about red?â
âIâm accompanying Daphne on a blind date today. Red is too flashy.â She said, gently pushing the man away and taking out a yellow dress, asking Kieran, âWhat about this one?â
âToo bright.â
âWhat about black?â
âToo low-key.â
âWhat about white?â She held up a white knit dress to ask him.
He thoughtfully replied, âThe simpler, the more eye-catching. Are you trying to upstage her?â
âI get it, youâd prefer if I wore nothing at all!â Julie put the white dress back.
The man wrapped an arm around her waist, pulled her away from the wardrobe, and picked out a khaki trench coat for her. âBack in the bedroom, you can wear nothing at all, but I canât promise Iâll be able to control myself.â
He smiled and leaned down. Julie thought he was going to kiss her forehead, but to her surprise, he kissed her neck instead, then gently ruffled her hair like she was a pet. âMs. Daphne has been waiting for you downstairs for a long time, call me after youâre done shopping.â
