Chapter 123
Love’s Cunning Ruse ( Mr.Kieran And Julie )
Chapter 123
âIm gonna slowly pay off my debt! if heâs not happy with it, let him sue me. The worst that could happen is that I end up in jailâ
This was the first time Daphne saw Julie being so reckless, like she had given up on everything.
She carefully observed Julie, tentatively asking, âWould you really prefer going to jail than staying with Mr. Hernandez?â
âDaphne, youâve been acting weird lately,â Julie bluntly stated.
Fearing she had given herself away, Daphne quickly changed the subject, âIâm just worried about you. What if Mr. Hernandez actually sues you? Am I supposed to just watch you go to jail? Besides, didnât you promise Mr. Kennedy to take care of his kid? What will he do if you just leave like this?â
Having said that, she added, âThe kid really depends on you, doesnât he?â
âHe might be upset at first, but hell probably forget about me after a while, Julie said, not knowing if she was talking to Daphne or herself.
Daphne still disagreed with Julieâs decision to go to Oakhurst, âItâs so far away and youâll be alone, with no one to look after you. Iâll be womed!â
âIâm not a child anymore, Julie gave Daphne a big hug, reassuring her, âDonât worry! Everything will be fine.â
Daphne knew that Julie had made up her mind, so in the end, she couldnât keep her from leaving.
When she sent Julie off at the airport, she felt a sense of relief.
The only person Julie could never miss in her life was probably Kieran Hernandez. From the beginning, their fates were intertwined, and Julie couldnât just run away from it.
Knowing Kieranâs love for Julie, Daphne was sure they would meet again in the future, so she didnât keep Julie here because one day, she would come back.
In the last moment before the plane took off, Julie took out her phone, opened WhatsApp, and sent a message to Mr. Kennedy. Then, she threw away the SIM card and boarded the plane.
Kieran received a call from Ivan Hernandez just before he received Julieâs farewell message.
Ivan excitedly asked on the other end of the phone, âKerry, where did you take Mama Julie? Iâm off today, but Mama Julie didnât come to accompany me. Iâm upset you know?â
When Kieran woke up in the morning. Julie was already gone.
He probably had a hunch about what Julie would do today after the unpleasant conversation last night.
So he told Ivan on the phone, âGo see if Mama Julieâs luggage is still in her bedroom.â
Ivan rushed to Julieâs bedroom, only to find no trace of Julieâs luggage in the neat room.
He immediately furrowed his brows in distress, âOh no, Kerry, Mama Julie has run away!â
âDonât worry, sheâll come back. Let Noah accompany you for now Kieran said, then hung up the phone.
In the private club, Kieran sat on the sofa. Dylan was sitting across from him with a glass of wine and said, âWhy hasnât Hayden arrived yet? Is he lost?â
âIf I were really lost, how could I hear your sarcastic remarks? Haydenâs voice came from the entrance, making Dylan, who often dealt with corpses, shake a little.
âHayden, is the traffic in Whispering Pines smooth?â Dylan put down his glass and smiled at Hayden.
Surprisingly, a stunning beautiful woman followed Hayden in. With her short, neat hair and delicate features, she gave Dylan a cold glance.
Dylan had never seen such a cold yet attractive woman. He immediately put down his glass and warmly approached Julien.
Still grinning at Hayden, he said, âWhen did you get such a frosty beauty by your side?â
Dylan walked over and tried to put his arm around Julienâs shoulder, saying, âHello, beauty, I am⦠Suddenly, he cried out in pain.
Before he could finish introducing himself, Julien had twisted his arm behind his back. She released him and looked at Dylan coldly. âMr. Dylan, please behave. Not every womanâs shoulder is free for you to touch.â
âIâm Dylan Dylan rubbed his arm while complaining to Hayden, I thought she was a rose with thorns, but she turns out to be a hedgehog!â
Juhen gave Dylan a stern look. He quickly hid behind Hayden, but still felt unsafe, so he sat down next to Kieran.
Julien recognized Kieran, who was sitting in the comer, at first glance. She approached Kieran and said, âJulle went to Oakhurst. Did you send someone to follow her?â
Kieran lifted his head, his sharp gaze swept over Julien. The answer was obvious.
Julien was relieved. As long as Julie was safe, that was all that mattered. Even if Kieran hadnât sent someone to follow her, she would
have done so.
Hayden approached and said to Kieran, âThe person you wanted to meet last time is here.â
âNice to meet you, Ms. Julien Kieran finally greeted Julien.
Julien nodded, replying to Kieran. Tve heard a lot about youâ
âSo, your name is Julien?â Dylan looked at Julien and suddenly said, âI thought your name was Hedgehogâ¦
Julien completely ignored Dylan.
Dylan decided not to cause any more trouble. He looked at Hayden and asked, âWhy did you bring her?â
Hayden didnât respond, instead he turned to Kieran and asked, âDid we figure out how Bertha Stewart died?â
Dylan piped up again, âWeâve got some leads, but can this lady listen on this?â
It was clear that Dylan was targeting Julien Hayden didnât plan on defending her either. Julien gave Dylan a cold look, âYou can tell me the truth now, or wait until youâre dead and Ill dig it up myself.
That was definitely a threat!
Considering Julienâs capabilities heâd just witnessed, Dylan decided not to poke the bear. He grinned at Hayden and said, âI had Payne Hernandez check all the surveillance. On the day Bertha died, she never left her villa When she jumped off the building, there was a shadow on the rooftop. It moved too fast to be seen clearly on camera, but the footage of that day was tampered with, so
âThat shadow was me, Julien suddenly cut in.
This statement made Kieran and Hayden both turn to look at her.
Dylan was even more surprised, frowning incredulously at Julien, âYou?â
Julien nodded.
Hayden frowned slightly, âWhy wasnât I informed?â
âI didnât see the need or have the obligation to report to you,â Julien responded coldly
At this moment, Dylan felt an inexplicable respect for Julien. It was definitely the first woman who dared to talk to Hayden like that.
Julien didnât beat around the bush and said directly, âEight years ago, a flight took off from Whispering Pines and crashed while flying over the Arctic Ocean. Lucian Hernandez, Mr. Hernandezâs brother, was on the passenger list and he did indeed board the plane. There were also agents from our National Security Agency on the plane, so we took over the case. After years of investigation, we found that things were not so simple. We suspect that Lucian was the only survivor of that flight. It seems that he was moved before the explosion.â
Hayden had been completely unaware that the case Julien had been investigating over the years was the same one that he was working
After the plane crash, Kieran held a grand funeral for Lucian
Back then, Hayden and Kieran thought Lucian was dead. The plane had exploded mid-air, leaving no time for reaction or escape, let alone a rescue plan. Everyone had accepted Lucians death.
Hayden looked at Julien, asking the key question, âWhy were you on the roof that day?â
âWeâd been tracking Lucian for eight full years. On the day Bertha died, I got a tip that Lucian was possibly at Noblewood Retreal So, I rushed over. However, by the time I got there, Bertha had just jumped off the roof. I was too late to save her,â Julien explained.
Dylan asked, âSo, you didnât see who the killer was that day?â
âThere was no killer, Julien suddenly said to everyone, âI spoke to Julie. She said that Bertha looked terrified when she died, but I only saw Bertha jump off the building herself. There was no one else suspicious there. So, based on the scene, itâs impossible to find a killer.
âWhy should I believe you?â Dylan shot a piercing look at Julien.
Julien only glanced at Dylan before she replied, âBecause my life was saved by Julie.â
Lucian was still alive. That fact was no longer a secret to those present anymore
Julien suddenly turned to Kieran, âI understand your desire to protect Julie, but I need to confirm something with you.â
âGo ahead.â
âIs Ivan truly Julieâs son?â Jullen looked intently at Kieran. She had her own suspicions, but she wanted to hear the truth from Kieran himself.
Only by confirming the truth could she better assist Julie and uncover the real story. So, without hesitation, Julien said to Kieran, âI hope you can answer me directly.â
