Chapter 82

Running Into You

Forty minutes later, after stories, kisses, and promises of ice cream for dessert tomorrow, Liam pulled Maggie close to him as they lay on the couch downstairs.

The TV was playing a sitcom that neither was watching as he just held her and ran his fingers up and down her soft skin, leaving a trail of goosebumps as he went.

“Care to tell me what’s got you so quiet tonight? I can tell you are deep in thought…”

Maggie sighed and looked at him as she propped her head up on her arm. “I got a phone call from Ed today.”

“Is everything okay with Patrick’s application? Do we need to go with plan B?”

“Oh, no, he said that he finished processing everything, and Patrick is fine. But Ed’s retiring, and Dave was chosen as the new principal.”

“Oh, well, good for him! I know he has been there for years and ~know~ you think highly of him. I hope he enjoys his time off! Do you think Dave will be fine? Are you worried about that?”

“No, I think Dave will do very well. He and Ed were alike in many areas, especially in discipline. They support restorative practice and giving back to the community that you may have wronged. That’s not what has got me thinking. It’s the next part…”

Liam watched as she got up and started pacing the living room floor before him. “Darling, what did he say?”

“Ed asked how much longer I had before my master’s was done, and I told him one semester. He wants me to finish it this summer semester and apply for the assistant principal position…”

“Maggie, that’s great! Are you going to do it?”

“I don’t know… That’s a big step, Liam! I mean, assistant principal when we have four children? Don’t you think that is a bit much?”

“Well, one of the four will be in school and the next one is going to preschool across the street. The twins will be the only ones with Tonya, and you know she would do whatever you ask. What else is worrying you?”

Maggie stopped pacing and looked at him, knowing that he was right about the two older boys. She had already thought of that and could totally see how easy of a transition it would be.

“But what about leaving them home? I mean, don’t you think that they will resent me that I went back to work when they were young?”

Liam looked at her and could tell the real reason she was struggling with this idea, but wanted her to admit it to him. He sat there and looked at her and smiled before he answered.

“Darling, I remember when my mom went back to work, and Anne came and watched us. I never thought that my mom loved us less.

“I loved playing with Anne, and it was amazing when my mom came home! She spent so much quality time with us at night. I remember so many nights with her and so many days with Anne.

“They were different ladies, yes, but I never loved either of them less. I had special times with both of them. Plus, you are in the unique position of being at school with them until high school!

“Every day you will take them to school and see them and eat lunch with them! My mom never had that.”

Maggie had already thought of all that and how awesome it would be to be with them for so many years, actually getting to have a hand in their education.

She sighed and knew she was going to have to tell him the real reason for the excuses.

“Maggie, tell me what’s really bothering you.”

“I’m scared, babe!”

Liam immediately got up and pulled her into his arms.

“Darling, you will be brilliant at this! I know it might be a bit daunting at first, but I will be there to help in every way I can! You can do this and you know you can!”

She listened to his words, knowing that he was right. She could be a damn good administrator and mentor to new teachers to develop their craft, and she could count on Liam’s support.

She wiped the tears away as he kissed her nose, “Thank you for reminding me that I am being a worrywart. I just had a panic attack when Ed called me.”

He hugged her tightly again, “Don’t worry about it! I love you so much! Now, tomorrow, you sign up for the last class and then fix your resume and send it in for consideration!”

“I will. I love you too!”

He kissed her softly and let it go deeper, weaving his fingers through her soft, thick hair. He was starting to feel the tenting in his pants and wanted to have his naughty way with her on the couch.

He gently pulled her back to the couch, letting her straddle his legs. She started gently grinding her hips on his and could feel how much he was enjoying it.

He started kissing her ear and neck, working his way around to the other side, making Maggie a little weak.

“Liam, babe, there is one more thing…”

“What is it?” he mumbled against her neck.

“I don’t want any more kids… I want you to get a vasectomy…”

Liam stopped instantly and looked up at her in disbelief.

“Wait, what? A vasectomy?”

Maggie had been thinking about it for several weeks, and the conversation with Isaac had cemented it for her.

“Yeah, I have been thinking about this for several weeks. We have four beautiful boys that I love dearly, and I’m going to start a new career.

“Odds are if we tried again, it would be another boy, so trying for a girl seems pointless. Plus, we have had several scares since the twins were born.

“You have superhuman sperm and each time we got pregnant, I was on birth control! This is the only other way to not get pregnant without becoming abstinent.”

“I get it, and I don’t want to become abstinent! But a vasectomy?”

“It is a much simpler process for you than for me to have a tubal!”

“But the doctor would be cutting awfully close to my rod! What if he messed something up?”

She rolled her eyes at him. “Oh, don’t be such a damn baby, Liam! I pushed your children out of my vagina four times! Has it changed anything about our sex life?”

“Not at all! You were made for me, and there is no other place my rod loves to be than in your sweet body!”

“Then, please? Can you seriously think about this?”

Liam sighed. He had never denied his wife anything, and he wouldn’t start now.

She had already done so much by having the boys, but he was sad at the thought of not having another baby with his sexy and incredible wife.

Then again, the thought of not having to worry about getting pregnant for the rest of their lives was appealing.

“Are you sure you don’t want any more babies? We make amazing children…”

“We do. When Isaac said he wanted a sister today, and he would play dolls with her like in the book we read, it melted my heart, but the thought of a baby and a new career just seems too daunting.”

He kissed her again. “I understand. I love you, so I will call my doctor tomorrow to find a good doctor and look into this.”

She kissed him hard again. “Thank you! Now, take your pants off and let me ride you on this couch!”

Liam laughed and did what he was told. She rode him hard, making them both light-headed from the passion and intensity.

The idea that they could do this forever sold him on the vasectomy. Her body had been through so much to have his children, so he felt it was his turn.

He pulled his shorts back on and went to lock up the house while Maggie went to check on the boys.

They met back in their room, quickly showered, and went to sleep, excited about what could be on the horizon
