Chapter 39

Running Into You

Maggie woke up to the smell of waffles. She slowly opened her eyes and saw Liam sitting on the edge of the bed with a tray of food. She sat up with a smile on her face as he moved closer.

“Happy Birthday, Maggie!” he said lovingly.

She blushed and thanked him. Liam pushed the tray closer to her, and they sat and ate breakfast in bed. He had made waffles, eggs, and bacon with a side of the grapefruit that she loved so much.

They laughed and talked as they ate. When they were done, Liam moved the tray away and kissed her, slowly at first, then deep and intense.

Liam got up, grabbed the bottle of syrup from the tray, and came back to her, slowly moving the sheets back, exposing her beautiful naked body. Her smile burned a picture in his mind.

He was so thankful he had a photographic memory so he could relive the moment over and over again and remember how blissfully happy he was.

He opened the lid on the bottle and slowly let the sticky sweet liquid dribble out and fall on her breasts and stomach. He put the bottle on the nightstand and kissed her mouth.

As soon as she felt the liquid hit her skin, her breath caught in her chest in anticipation of what was to come.

Liam slowly lowered his head and started licking and sucking the syrup from her body, leaving a trail of goosebumps wherever his mouth had been.

As he worked to remove the sugary substance from her, she was lost in a sea of sensations. All she could do was feel what he was doing to her and relish it.

Maggie had never felt so loved and cared for in her entire life; it was a new experience. When he was done cleaning the syrup off of her, Liam kissed her, taking her breath away.

He slowly kissed her and entered her wet core slowly, and they joined together. Liam never stopped kissing her lips and they wove their fingers together as he made love to her in the sweetest way.

As they came together with a sigh, a few tears fell from Maggie’s eyes.

She had never felt so loved and cherished, and she wanted to remember this feeling for the rest of life.

She knew she would never allow another person to make her feel less than the way she did at that very moment.

Liam Olsen had changed her life, her soul. She understood that she deserved more and now she would require it, demand it.

If anyone gave her another present again, she would accept it with gratitude and not think less of herself because of her father. Liam had ruined her for any other man.

She deserved to be loved and treated like a precious jewel or flower. She understood what it felt like to be truly and deeply loved.

“Hey, what’s wrong, darling?” Liam asked as he wiped a tear away, smiling at her.

“Nothing, I am perfect. I was just thinking about how much you love me and how you have finally made me see that I am worth someone loving me… Thank you for loving me, Liam…”

“I love you, Maggie Sloan, and can’t live without you. You changed me, I was just trying to show you how much.”

She kissed him and ran her fingers through his hair. He pulled back and smiled. “Darling, it’s time you got up and got ready. I have a surprise for you!”

She smiled back at him and sat up. “Okay. Let me take a quick shower. Any particular way I should dress?”

“Any way you want!”

Maggie sauntered into the bathroom and blew him a kiss as she hopped in the shower. She washed her hair and body, loving the tropical scent of her shampoo and body wash.

She hummed to herself as she dried off and quickly dried her hair. She pulled it back into a ponytail, letting the waves cascade down her back.

She put on a pink tank top, a gray skirt, and some matching wedge sandals. She applied some makeup and went down to find Liam.

He was sitting at the kitchen island, looking at his phone as he waited. He went to her and hugged her, giving her some sunglasses.

“You will need these, darling. Grab your purse, too!” he said happily.

He took her hand, led her out the front door, and turned her body to face the garage door, covering her eyes.

“Happy Birthday, Maggie!” he exclaimed to her.

He took his hands off her eyes and turned her the other way. There was a brand-new car with a huge pink bow on it.

She could tell it was an SUV, but with a convertible top. She got closer and saw that it was a Range Rover, and knew it was expensive.

“What is this, Liam?” Maggie asked.

“This is your birthday present!”

“I can see that, but—”

“Do you like it?”

Remembering her epiphany from the morning, she turned to him and jumped in his arms, “Thank you! I really love it, Liam! I meant, what kind of a car is it?”

“Sorry!” he chuckled. “Well, I knew you were having a hard time deciding between an SUV and a convertible, so I found a car that was both! Isn’t the color lovely?

“The way it sparkles in the sun reminded me of your dress from last night! And I will never forget the way you looked last night!” he said, kissing her. “Or this morning!” He kissed her again.

She chuckled as he wrapped his arms around her. “Now let’s take her for a spin!”

Maggie laughed as they ran to the car. Liam let her in before running to the front and taking the bow off, setting it in the back, and climbing in beside her.

He handed her the keys; she pressed the button and heard the quiet engine purr to life. He had already programmed her favorite stations into the radio, and put on his aviators, looking very sexy.

“Shall we?” he asked with a smirk.

She adjusted her sunglasses, put the sleek car into gear, and pulled out. They drove out of the subdivision and Liam directed her to the highway.

They just drove, letting the wind play with their hair and singing loudly—and badly—along with the radio.

He had her pull off to an old diner for lunch. After eating, they hit the highway again, driving all over and heading back home.

They arrived back at the house and took some glasses of lemonade to the patio.

“That was awesome, thank you, Liam! This has been one of the best birthdays ever!”

“I’m so glad! Everyone will be here in about an hour if you want to stay here and relax. I’m going to go finish prepping dinner. Okay?”

She nodded and moved to one of the loungers as he went inside. Maggie could hear Joan talking and Niall laughing with them. She listened to the lovely sounds they made as she drifted off.

The doorbell and some loud voices woke Maggie up. She sat up and stretched, following the voices inside to see Brett and Sheila talking to Joan and Niall.

Maggie rushed in and hugged Brett as he kissed the top of her head. “Happy Birthday, Mags! I take it that fancy car out there is the birthday present that my best friend got you?”

“You bet! Isn’t it pretty?” she replied.

“Yeah, only Liam would buy a Range Rover as a birthday present!” Brett said, shaking his head.

Maggie hugged Sheila and thanked her for coming.

They went to the patio just as Makayla, Mike, Nick, Hannah, and Lucy arrived. She hugged everyone and thanked them for coming.

Joan was helping Liam with the shrimp and lobster risotto, and Niall went to grill the steaks as Maggie got everyone drinks.

Fifteen minutes later, everyone was sitting at the dining room table eating dinner. They talked and laughed throughout the meal.

Maggie had a great time and couldn’t remember laughing so much at one of her birthdays.

Liam and Joan took the dirty plates into the kitchen and came back with a beautiful red velvet cake with candles on it, singing. Everyone joined in as they put the cake in front of her.

Maggie was grinning from ear to ear, loving every second.

She blew out the candles and everyone clapped, including Lucy. Everyone praised her as she clapped with them, and she continued to entertain the adults around her.

They enjoyed the cake and Makayla went to get the presents as they finished.

Mike and Makayla got her a new leather bag since her good one burned up in the fire; she had been using an old one of Liam’s for the rest of the school year.

Brett got her a pair of gold hoop earrings. Sheila insisted on getting her a shirt, Nick and Hannah got her a crystal picture frame, and Joan and Niall an awesome raincoat.

They all laughed about it, remembering how Liam and Maggie met. She got up to hug each of them, thanking them.

She was walking back to her seat when she heard Liam call, “Maggie…” She turned to see him on one knee holding a ring box.
