Chapter 20

Running Into You

Liam lay on his back, trying to catch his breath. He pulled out and sat on the bed, drawing Maggie onto his lap. He wrapped his arms around her and kissed her shoulders.

“How do you do that to me?” he asked.

“Me? What about you? I have never had anyone do to me what you do! And I love it! I could easily become addicted to sex with you, Mr. Olsen!”

“Oh, darling, I already am!” He kissed her again. They sat on the bed for a few more minutes before Liam felt Maggie move her casted arm against his leg.

“Shit! Maggie, I forgot about your arm! Did I hurt you?”

She looked at him and touched his cheek gently. “No, I’m fine, Liam. Somehow, I got my arm in a good position and just enjoyed the ride!”

Liam moved her to the bed and got up, getting a warm rag so she could clean up a bit. She thanked him and pulled her suit back up.

He pulled his trunks back up and they went back up on deck to relax. Maggie sprayed sunscreen on her body and Liam’s back.

They lay together on the bench in the sun, talking and listening to music as the boat gently rocked on the waves.

“You know, I have never gotten along so well with a potential boyfriend. The only people that ever came close are Brett, Makayla, Mike, and Olivia! And you heard how that went.”

Liam looked at her and felt bad that she had been so mistreated in her previous relationships. How could anyone treat this amazing creature so horribly and treat her heart so badly?

“Maggie, getting to know you has been the greatest time of my life, and I am honored to be with you… But I have to say, I’m a little hurt.”

“What? Why?”

“~Potential~ boyfriend?”

“Why are you hurt by that? Are you not a potential boyfriend? I mean, we haven’t talked about anything more.

“But if this is just sex for you and you are not looking for more, then please just let me know. I don’t want to get my heart set up any higher and—”

“Maggie, stop! I’m just having a go at you. I want nothing more than for you to be my girlfriend. So, will you? Be my girlfriend? This is much more than a passing fancy for me, Maggie.”

He moved his sunglasses down, and she could see the sincerity in his eyes as her heart lurched.

She knew at that moment, with the look he gave her, that she was in love with him and there was no coming back from this. He had changed her in just two weeks.

“Yes,” she whispered to him.

He leaned over and kissed her tenderly. She lay in his arms as the sun started to move. Soon, the shade crept over them.

“Would you like to stay for dinner?”

“I would love to.”

Liam smiled and got up to start the engines. Maggie stood next to him as he drove the boat back; she liked being close to him no matter what he did.

He kissed her forehead several times throughout the ride back and loved that she wanted to be close to him.

Liam called ahead to his staff to meet him for help securing the boat. They hopped off, cooler in hand, and drove back to his house.

Joan was in the kitchen making dinner, and it smelled delicious!

“Liam, I am making that Madeira Chicken you like. Is that okay?” she asked.

“Oh! I love that! Yes! Is that okay, darling?” he said, turning to Maggie and grinning.

“Sounds fine by me. Can you show me where I could change and take off my suit?”

He took her hand and led her upstairs, grabbing her bag along the way. She loved his room; the massive four-poster bed looked so comfy.

The walls were painted sky blue with dark gray, white, and darker blue accents all over. All the furniture was a dark cherry color and looked so very elegant.

Liam put her bag on the bench at the foot of his bed, pointed to the closet on the right, and then took her into the most beautiful bathroom she had ever seen.

It was bright with textured glass windows, a huge bathtub that could fit four people, a double sink vanity, and an all-glass shower with real rock inside.

One of the shower heads hung from the ceiling to make it seem like it was raining.

“Wow…it’s incredible!”

“I’m glad you like it. Stay with me tonight. We can try out the shower or the tub, whatever you want!”

She smiled and pulled him in for a hug. “Shower or the tub? Why not both? Tomorrow is Sunday after all…”

“Is that a ‘yes’? You’ll stay?”

“Since you asked so nicely, sure. Now get out so I can freshen up for dinner!”

“I’ll wait in my room, and then I’ll show you around the rest of the house, okay?”

She blew him a kiss as he walked out.

Liam pulled out his phone and looked over his emails and texts. One text made him smirk.

Nate

how was the date?

Nate

hello you damn Limey! Are you dead?

Nate

Okay, do I have to call Joan and have her check up on you? If I don’t hear from you by 7, I’m coming over!

Liam

Chill out Yank! Date hasn’t ended yet!

Nate

Seriously? Dude, you got it bad! Have you told Brett that you are in love with his best friend?

Liam

just keep your thoughts to yourself for now

He was in love, but he was going to wait for a few weeks to tell her, so as not to scare her away.
