Chapter 238 - Nothing is too early

"I once thought that he was the worst."

Their mother hated their father that much? Then how did she fell in love with a person she once hated so much?

Lu Mello and Lu Xingyan were both confused.

"But you see..." Xia Meilin continued, "After everything that happened, I found out that he’s actually a man who was trying his best to change for his family, for the people he loves. He showed kindness and respect to me. He repented and made efforts, huge efforts. He changed for the best. How can I turn a blind eye to that? He tried to fight the devil inside of him. He never wasted the second chance he got."

Lu Xingyan couldn’t imagine their quiet father as a jerk and sc.u.mbag of a man. They knew him as a man who respected his wife. More like... A slave to his wife.

She rarely saw them argue but when they did, they ended up making up within that same day.

She once thought that her parents were the perfect couples but she never knew that there was actually an imperfect story that ended up bringing them together.

"Mello, Xing’er, you are my children. It’s only normal for your dad and me to be worried. Us parents will never stop worrying for our kids."

Lu Mello pouted, "The only person who dad worries and cares the most is you, mom."

Xia Meilin chuckled, "Well... I can’t deny that fact but he still cares and worries for you and your sisters, Mello."

"Only a little." He huffed.

"He may not show it that much but he cares." She patted his head and smiled.

"Now about Chun’er. She’s still young, yes, but she’s old enough to do what she wants. As for her boyfriend, only time will tell if he’s serious about our Chun’er or not."

Her son crossed his arms and huffed, "What if he’s just playing around? What if he hurts her?"

"I did say that loving and hurting is normal in a relationship but if he’s playing with her then we will just have to make sure that he’ll regret it. Chun’er is a member of the Lu family. He will get the punishment he deserves if he’s just playing with her feelings" Xia Meilin said with a dark expression on her face.

Her son and daughter ended up gulping before they gave each other a look.

"Anyway~" The dark expression on her face disappeared in an instant and it was replaced by her usual gentle smile again, "I almost forgot why I came here." She chuckled lightly. "Xing’er, why don’t you help me in the kitchen today? Let’s prepare breakfast for everybody."

Since Lu Xingyan’s sleepiness has been long gone, she decided to go with her mother.

In the kitchen, while the two of them were busy making breakfast, the dream Lu Xingyan had last night suddenly entered her mind.

"Ouch..." She looked at her finger since she accidentally made a cut. The blood was oozing out from the small cut.

"Oh my! Xing’er!" Her mother rushed to her side and held her hand. "You should be careful when handling the knife."

"I’m sorry... I’ll get this treated."

"Let me do it for you."

"Mom, your cooking will burn. I can manage something like this." Lu Xingyan insisted with a small smile on her lips.

Xia Meilin sighed, "Alright. Ask the maid to get the first aid kit for you."

"Yes..."

Lu Xingyan left the kitchen and instead of asking the maid, she directly went to her room to get it treated.

Meanwhile, Xia Meilin did the rest of the preparation while her daughter was away.

"You’re in the kitchen again." Lu Yifeng’s voice was heard.

Xia Meilin didn’t turn to look at him since she was busy frying the rice. "My cooking skills will become a waste if I don’t use it."

He walked and stood behind his wife. He reached out and sn.a.k.e.d his arms behind her. He bowed his head to place a kiss on the crook of her neck.

"Mr. Lu, it’s too early for this." Xia Meilin tried her best to concentrate on the food that she was cooking.

"Nothing is too early. My time belongs to my wife." His husky voice was heard near her ear, making his wife blush.

"Lu Yifeng, I’m trying to focus right now." She pouted.

"That’s fine, I’m giving all my focus to my wife." He reached out and placed his hand on top of her hand that was holding the spatula’s handle.

"..."

It was hopeless whenever it came to Lu Yifeng’s endless antics. Although it was not like Xia Meilin hated it. They were both sharing such a sweet moment and she actually enjoyed spending such moments with him.

"Argh... Are we having dog food for breakfast again?" Lu Mello asked upon seeing his parents act all lovey-dovey when he entered the kitchen.

A faint blush appeared on Xia Meilin’s cheeks, "Blame your father."

"I think having a glass of vinegar will go well with the dog food." A small smirk appeared on Lu Yifeng’s lips when he glanced at his son.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

"Gege, I think we should just order food outside. I’m tired of eating dog food for breakfast." Lu Xingyan said as she went and stood beside her brother. The cut she had earlier on her finger was now covered by a bandaid.

"That’s a good idea. Let’s message Xiao Chun to bring us food instead." He took out his phone. Of course, he was just kidding.

Xia Meilin wanted to hide from embarrassment but she was being cornered by her husband who was standing behind her.

Lu Yifeng reached out and turned off the stove since the fried rice was well cooked now. He finally let go of his wife before he turned to his daughter, "Xingyan, help your mother."

"Yes, yes." Lu Xingyan smiled and went to get a container where her mother can transfer the fried rice.

On the other hand, Lu Yifeng decided to prepare a drink for his family.

"Dad, don’t add vinegar on our drinks." Lu Mello reminded before he left the kitchen.

Lu Xingyan giggled and turned to her father, "We should put some in gege’s drink."
