Metamorphosis
Soul Writer: Words From Within
I am a caterpillar
So little and unlikeable
I linger under the shade of a leaf
Trying to find my true purpose
The mere reason for my existence
I see you fly by
A beautiful butterfly
So majestic and graceful in your ways
Incomparable to the flower you land on
I am so different
Unnoticed by your eyes
I finally know what I want
To be like you
So I can have the opportunity
To be closer to you
But itâs all just a dream
An impossible one at that
I lay in a corner
Your presence persistent in my mind
My insides melt at it all
As I finally drift away into slumber
Enveloped in warm covers
When I finally wake up
Everything feels different
Like Iâm a stranger in my own skin
I emerge from the layer I was encased by
Surprised by the iridescent wings on my back
Whether Iâm in a dream or not
Real or not real
This is all Iâve wanted
To be transformed into something better
The sad part of this all
Is that you are no longer here
After I have changed so much
