Chapter 148

Chloe's POV

The entire banquet hall paused and all eyes were drawn to the direction of the screams. At that

point, everyone realized that two of Alpha Kain's aides collapsed on the ground lifeless.

Blackish red blood flowed from the seven orifices of their bodies and the metallic smell of blood

started to scatter in the air.

The screams came from the women who were beside them as they were performing carnal

activities.

In an instant, chaos ensued in the banquet hall and all the Aides of the different packs came to

protect their leaders. Naturally, Vannessa and the rest regrouped on my side as I sent them a

mindlink,

"Act as naturally as possible. I trust that you did not leave any trace but we shall still be vigilant.” As

we have long planned this to happen, I knew that this matter would not be traceable to us, at least

while carrying the identity of Alpha Aira.

“Alright.” The rest replied as we all acted how others would. At our table the Alpha’s who were still

enjoying the company of their partners stood and rushed away from the table and released their

auras.

They did not even care if the companions they had were still alright, all of them were just concerned

that they would not be attacked when the enemy was still in hiding.

Food and wine were scattered, and a lot of people were injured. The poor servants and entertainers

collapsed on the ground because they could not handle the pressure of all the elders and officials

releasing their auras all at once.

Strangely, the spot where there is no chaos was around the Frost Fang Pack’s side. They stood still,

unbothered as if they were watching the others make themselves as clowns.

Among them there were also a few members of the allied pack that were calm, they were all

belonging to the slightly stronger packs unlike the group where Alpha Aira belonged to.

Even so, the fact that two aides directly serving Alpha Kain were assassinated in front of him is no

simple matter. It was a direct insult to him and so they knew that this would really end up in chaos.

It took me a great deal of effort to force my face not to smirk in disappointment as I saw the scene.

“So this is all it takes to make them all go crazy and stupid at the moment?” Vanessa said with an

amused tone during the mindlink. “If I knew, we should have prepared more to make them even

more scared!”

“I think this is enough for today...” I told them. What we learned tonight was enough for us to

gauge the internal structure of Alpha Kain's forces.

Although this banquet was only for those whose strength wasn't significant, who knew that we

would discover that there was someone like the Frost Fang Pack to back them up? Moreover, it was

not only the Frost Fang Pack who opted to attend even though this party wasn't for them.

Each of the major packs allied to the Blood Hound Pack made sure to send an elder or official as a

representative. Who knew that just like the Frost Fang Pack, the other strong packs did this to

express their innocence and loyalty to Alpha Kain relating to the assassination of his right hand

man,

Fortunately for us, we were able to identify them all in this seemingly simple party.

"ALL OF YOU PIPE DOWN!"

Boom!

Suddenly a heavy oppressive atmosphere invaded the entire hall as Alpha Kain's enraged voice

roared.

“Urkk!" All of the people around prostrated to the ground as they could not withstand the aura

released by Alpha Kain.

"Hakk..."” At that moment, I realized that even Allan and Vannessa struggled not to fall to the ground

face flat at Alpha Kain's oppression.

Although it is due to the power of Aurora that I could not be affected his oppression, I still followed

the other's lead and acted weak to his aura.

“This is the power of Alpha Kain?" I thought in disbelief.

“Indeed... this power... it's at par or even stronger than your mate's...” Aurora's words made my

heart skip a beat.

"Stronger than... Blake?” I responded in disbelief.

"Yes... as of now, I cannot even see the limits to his power... It was no wonder he was able to

completely subdue almost the entire werekind...” Aurora responded slowly.

“To think that this is his strength...” At this realization I felt an overwhelming sense of unwillingness

upon me. Alpha Kain seemed to be a massive and impenetrable wall that hindered me and our

Blood Moon Pack to complete our revenge!

"Aurora... Do you think I would stand a chance if I face him alone?” I asked Aurora, even though I

already vaguely knew the answer.

“You can't... for now, I advise you to not reveal yourself as an enemy to him at the moment.” Aurora

warned in a grave tone.

“I see...” I responded with a sense of dejection running over me. Even so, our mission for tonight has

already been accomplished. At this moment, the only thing to do is to act innocently and not be the

subject to Alpha Kain's suspicion.

“Shut the doors! Tell the sentries to also block all the exits in the territory! No one is to leave until

we have investigated the matter!” In the present, Alpha Kain started barking orders left and right.

He immediately placed a lock down to the entire banquet hall - an order that would have been a

great disrespect to the Alphas present.

However, Alpha Kain's suppression proved to be enough to even force everyone, even the Alphas to

keep their unwillingness and grievances. All of them remained in their respective places and did not

even try to protest.

"Apologies to everyone, but this incident happening right in front of us is no simple matter. As such,

everyone shall be subject to investigation right away.” Alpha Kain finally addressed the people

however, his words entail that he was not even asking for permission but merely informing

everyone.

There was silence all around and the oppressive atmosphere still lingered. Only Alpha Sabre waved

his hands and said in an unbothered manner, “Have your way, Lord Kain.”

At his words, everyone also started to nervously chime in, afraid that their resistance would

tantamount to being the culprit of the case.

"Good!" Alpha Kain's rage was still in his face, and his bloodlust did not diminish at all.

He then signaled the healers that were already inspecting the corpses.

The leader among them stood up and announced in great fear, “My lord... it is poison!”

Bang!

Alpha Kain's fist hit the banquet table, as he directed his anger towards it. Not one flinched at this

scene, but a deep sense of dread had already covered the entire hall.

Then his eyes look at everyone as he coldly announces, “I shall do the investigation personally!”

I calmly observed the situation, confident that he would not take my identity at the moment to be

capable of doing the assassination.

However, for some reason, Alpha Kain's hostile glare landed in our direction.

Time seemed to have slowed down when his hands started to raise and his fingers and pointed

toward me,

“Let's start with you, my little Alpha Aira!"
