Chapter 12: The Project
Send It To My Phone
Blake's Point of View
I pulled up to my house. I parked my car in the driveway before shutting it off. The car was full of peacefulness yet it was about to be ruined. My date with Kate went amazing, yet something felt off. I didn't know what it was but i'll figure it out soon. It'd bother me if I didn't.
"This was a lot of fun." I told Kate. She smiled at me before reaching for the door handle. I reached for her wrist, encircling my hand around it. I pulled it away from the door, causing her to turn to look at me. I looked into her eyes, feeling this electricity pulling me towards her.
"It was." She said. She stared back at me, making my want for her so much more. Her pink, plush lips were calling for me to connect mine with hers. I wanted to badly kiss her. My body wanted to respond to the want. I needed to act.
I felt her gaze on me as I continued to stare at her lips. I moved my body slightly closer to hers, getting rid of some of the distance. I stopped staring at her lips and looked into her eyes. A whirl of emotions were evident in them. I could tell how badly she wanted to kiss me. I continued to get closer until I was a few inches away. Her breathing began to come out in pants. I closed my eyes and leaned in, waiting for the soft flesh to touch me.
Instead, I felt a hand on my chest. I opened my eyes and saw a confused Kate. She didn't meet my gaze, only pushing me away. I frowned. I thought she wanted to kiss me. She showed all the signs of wanting to. So then why did she push me away?
"Thank you for tonight Blake. I'll call you." Kate said before reaching for the door handle. She opened the door and got out. She sped walked to her car before turning it on. I watched as she drove out of my driveway and down the streets of my neighborhood. I didn't know that was the last time i'd see the brunette.
-
I walked into Spanish class, looking for the frizzy haired brunette. She left me stranded yesterday and I wanted to know why.
All of the underclassmen swooned as I walked passed their desks. I didn't bother to give them a glance. I was a man on a mission. After last night, I didn't want anything to do with girls. I had never chased a girl and I definitely have never been blown off. I was confused as to why she pushed me away. No one ever does.
I could see the brunette looked down at her books. Her dark rimmed glasses took up most of her face. She attempted to use her brown hair to hide her from the rest of our classmates, only failing.
"Krissy." I said once I was at her side. She jumped a little from the sudden conversation. She looked up for a second, widening her eyes at me, before looking bad down at her books. I don't know how anyone can like reading. It's a waste of time. I couldn't careless about what happened in the past. It's in the past for a reason. And then, there's those annoying chick books. People write about love and relationships, setting impossible expectations for guys. Like please, when has a guy ever courted a girl? We aren't in the 1700's.
I stared at the nerd. I waited for her to look up. I felt a hand on my butt, causing me to look away. It was one of Adrianna's minions. She was smirking at me. I looked away from the slut.
"Krissy." I repeated to her. She sighed before closing whatever she was reading.
"Hi Blake." Krissy said not looking up. She stared at the front cover of the book. It was called A Player in Disguise.
"Where were you last night?" I asked her. The memory of my date with Kate was still vivid in my mind. I was left with the urge to kiss her.
"I didn't work." Krissy said above a whisper. I was about to respond, only hearing someone clear their throat.
"Please sit Mr. Tyler." Our Spanish teacher said. I nodded, taking the empty seat besides Krissy. She stared at me as I took the seat. Her mouth was open in surprise.
"Now that everyone is attentive and listening, we have a group project." Mrs. Castro said. I groaned. I hated group projects. Teachers always tried to set me up with people who don't do the work.
Don't get me wrong, I don't help at all, but why can't I be with a smart person? Maybe I can be with Krissy. She's like the smartest nerd in the school. She has to be able to ace this assignment.
"You will need to choose a partner and sit with them." Mrs. Castro continued to say. I looked at Krissy. Her eyes widened in fear, causing me to smirk.
"I choose Krissy." I told our teacher. Mrs. Castro looked at me with a frown before moving on. She grabbed a clipboard and began to write everyone's names down and who they were partnered up with.
"Mrs. Castro, may I work alone?" Krissy said from beside me. I let my smirk drop. Mrs. Castro looked at me and then Krissy. She sighed.
"I'm sorry Krissy. You need to be with a partner and Mr. Tyler here has chosen you." The teacher told her. I grinned victoriously.
"Alright." Krissy sighed. The teacher walked away.
"You don't want to be my partner?" I asked. Krissy let out a breath before turning to look at me. Her brown eyes seemed so familiar, causing an unusual flip to occur in the pit of my stomach. That was definitely weird.
"You better cooperate Blake." Krissy said in a serious tone. I nodded. I knew she'd do most of the work but I have to act like i'll do something.
"Class." Mrs. Castro said getting our attention. "You will have about a month to write a script that is about ten minutes long and be able to act it out."
The whole class groaned at that, including me. How was I supposed to memorize ten minutes worth of dialogue and in Spanish. This is crazy. I don't even know how to write much less speak.
"You will have the rest of class today and this week to work. The rest will have to be done out of class." Mrs. Castro said. She began to hand out pieces of paper with the requirements. I looked at the long list while letting out a groan.
"This is just great." I heard Krissy mumble. I turned towards her.
"You know Spanish right?" I asked her. Krissy looked at me before shaking her head. "Nothing?"
"No. I forgot I had to take a foreign language so my counselor moved me up to Spanish 2 this year so I could get my two credits." Krissy explained.
"What are we going to do?" I asked. I was beginning to feel nervous about choosing her as a partner. I thought she was smart.
"I'll come up with a basic script and then we can meet up to translate." Krissy said. I nodded. I was actually going to have to work. It won't be that bad.
"When?" I asked her. With the football playoffs around the corner, I had limited time for homework. I was also planning on going out with Kate again.
I had texted her earlier but she hadn't replied yet. I assumed she was in class, but I also felt like she was ignoring me. The want for her was growing immensely. I wanted to have her already. The chase for this girl has been going on far too long. My desire will disappear once I have my way. She'll be begging me for more. I could not wait until I had the brunette under me. She'll be the one chasing me.
"We can meet at the diner tonight. I work from 3 to 7. We can do this after that." Krissy said. I nodded. Maybe i'll see Kate there. A guy can only dream.
-
I pulled into a parking spot in front of the diner. I looked around and saw that it was mostly empty. My hope of seeing Kate began to decrease. I got out of my car and began to walk inside. The warm air began to nip at my skin. My blond locks flew as I stepped into the heat. I ran a hand through my hair.
"Table for one?" A blond girl asked. I was about to respond when someone else did.
"It's okay Han. We're going to do homework." Krissy said coming up to us.
"Alright. Have fun." The girl said before walking away. I watched as the blonde smirked at Krissy before turning to another table.
"Let's sit over there." Krissy said catching my attention. Her brown locks were in a messy ponytail and her dark rimmed glasses covered her face. I followed her over to a booth in the corner. She slid in first with me across from her. I noticed she had her backpack with her. She unzipped it and began to take books out.
I began to look around, feeling a sense of deja vu. I knew i'd been here a couple of times but this exact seat was causing me to feel different emotions. I looked out the window at the scarce parking lot before looking at Krissy. That's when it clicked. This was the same booth Kate and I sat in last night. Krissy looking somewhat like Kate helped my brain make the two connections.
The more I looked at this girl, the more she looked liked Kate to me. Although she could never be her, something in my wanted to connect the two together. They had the same hair color and eye color. Their skin tones were very similar. The only difference was that Kate was much cooler and prettier than Krissy.
"Is there something on my face?" Krissy said pulling me out of my thoughts. I focused on her and her words before shaking my head.
"You look a lot like this girl Kate." I said. I watched her eyes widened before she coughed. She squirmed in her seat before shaking her head.
"I doubt it. Your sister has talked about this Kate and I am pretty sure I don't. She sounds beautiful and cool." Krissy said. She looked down at her notebook before opening up to a new clean page.
"My sister talks about Kate?" I asked her. Krissy looked up and nodded.
"Yeah. She was working earlier and when on and on about her." Krissy said before writing something down on the paper. "Oh, she also mentioned you."
"What did she say?" I asked. I was still weirded out with Sophie being back. I was used to being the only Tyler in town, that now I forget I have a twin sister. I could only assume my sister talks about me. I'm her only friend, besides Morgan and Kate. Oh, and Asher.
I know I told Asher that he could date my sister, but it's gross. I don't want to see my sister making out with anyone. It's just more disgusting seeing her do it with my best friend. Don't get me wrong, I am extremely happy my sister found someone as amazing as Asher, but why Asher?
There's nothing wrong with him. He's the complete opposite of me. He cares about school, he isn't a troublemaker, and he has his whole life planned out. He'd be the perfect boyfriend. I just wish he wasn't one to my sister.
I looked into Krissy's brown eyes. They were full of curiosity. A small smirk was playing at her lips. It seemed vaguely familiar.
"Blake? Did you hear me?" Krissy asked. I shook my head. The last thing I remember her saying was that Soph talks about me. Did she answer my question?
"No, what did you say?" I asked. Krissy rolled her eyes before letting out a small chuckle. The melody sounded a lot like Kate's, making me look around for her.
"How about we get started on this assignment." Krissy suggested. I nodded. I don't know how much I can input into it, but let's go.
-
Over an hour later and I found myself staring at a Spanish dictionary. All these words were nothing like the English language. How we were supposed to perform something, I had no idea.
"Can we take a break?" I asked Krissy. She looked up from her sheet of paper and sighed. I had been bugging her nonstop. It wasn't on purpose, well some of it was, but I didn't understand anything. I thought after a few months of being in this class, i'd at least be able to understand something. I still had no clue how to even say my name. It's something me llamo. Although that last word sounds a lot like llama.
"Let's call it a night." Krissy said. I nodded. My exhaustion of the day started to kick in. I was still a little sleep deprived from last night, but I wouldn't have changed it. Well, I would have changed the ending.
I was still annoyed that I didn't get to kiss Kate. The urge in me was still very strong and it would only continue to build. I needed to kiss her. I had texted her earlier during this homework project thing but I didn't get a response. Usually I wait a couple of days to hit up the girl, but I wanted to see her again. These emotions in me where not like me.
"We can meet up tomorrow." I told Krissy. As of right now, I had no plans after football practice. Kate wasn't replying so I was free. I could try to hook up with some random girl at the mall, but I should probably focus on graduating.
"I don't work tomorrow." Krissy said. I raised an eyebrow. What does it matter that she doesn't work?
"Okay?" I said to her. She squirmed in her seat, not meeting my eyes.
"I don't want to drive here if I don't work." Krissy explained to me. I nodded.
"I can just come over to your place." I said. I would suggest mine but I didn't want to have to run into my dad and explain this. I didn't even know how to.
"Umm can I-" I cut her off.
"My house is off limits for a while. My dad is working from home." I told her. It was true. He was working in his office, but I rather not bring her over.
"Alright." She sighed. She began to pack up her things before looking at me. "You can come over tomorrow around 5:30." She ripped a piece of paper out of her notebook and began to scribble something on it. "Here's my address."
"Is your number on here too?" I asked. I looked at the paper and only saw an address.
"I'll see you at 5:30." Krissy said ignoring my question. She quickly got up and slid out of the booth. She gave me a small little wave before walking back behind the counter.
I sighed. I stuffed my notebooks into my backpack, which she made me take down notes earlier. I made sure I had everything before sliding out of the booth as well. I walked out of the diner and got back into my car. I looked at the time on the console before pulling out of the parking spot.
I had a study date with the nerd. I never thought those words would be coming out of my mouth. Actually, I never thought i'd be studying and actually trying. What has my world come to?
