Chapter 42

Geet tried to get free again, but then she got angry and switched sides. Geet is lying on top of me while I'm sleeping on the bed.

"Payal, what is this?" Geet said angrily.

I hugged her. "Please, Do not leave me! I missed you so much." Geet tried to push my hand away again but eventually gave up, her expression revealing she couldn't resist too much. Geet asked, "Are you being stubborn?"

"Yes, I am stubborn," I said with a defiant tone.

Finally, Geet laid her head down and closed her eyes. I noticed she was asleep, I was hugging her tightly. She fell asleep comfortably, like a small child, not moving an inch, looking so peaceful.

In the morning, Geet touched my ear, and it made me feel ticklish.

"What?" I felt a tickle in my ear.

Geet said with an annoyed face, "I need to go to the bathroom, let go."

I thought, "Is my hold that strong?" I let go. She got up, stretched, and I watched her.

Geet took out some clothes from her bag and said, "Stop staring," then plugged her phone in to charge. My whole body was aching because Geet had been lying on top of me. I was even having back pain. I got up and put on some balm, and plugged my phone into the charger. Just then, I noticed Geet's phone wallpaper; it was just a black screen.

By the time Geet had freshened up, I brought coffee for us. Everyone else was still asleep; it was 4 a.m. I went to freshen up, and when I came out, Geet was wearing a saree, putting plates in her saree. Her light green saree looked beautiful. As my gaze wandered from her face downwards, Geet noticed and I quickly looked away.

Geet said, "Payal, close your eyes. Will you stop staring at my waist? Don't you have any shame? Who looks at someone like that? Where are your manners? you lusty woman."

Hearing this, I closed my eyes and thought, "She's going to accuse me of harassment at this rate. I have to do something, Payal, she's not melting even a little, she's so mad."

When Geet looked at Payal after calming down, she saw her standing there with her eyes closed, half-dressed. She was wearing a towel coat, and while Geet was trying to put on her saree, her attention kept drifting to Payal's feet. Getting frustrated, Geet grabbed Payal's hand and pushed her out of the room.

I thought to myself, "Why did Geet do this?"

"Geet, don't do this, what if people see? You threw me out of my own room!"

Ten minutes later, Geet opened the door. Seeing her dressed like this, I felt like I'd die of a heart attack. Could she have worn this saree for me? Is she trying to seduce me? Because I might just faint.

Geet said angrily, "Are you coming in or not? Stop staring."

Geet goes outside, and I turn to look at her back. Why does she walk like a model? Why is she so beautiful? I could die for her. I start heading into the room, but I bump into the wall. Classic me—the door's right there. My attention was on Geet. I go inside, put on a formal coat, and then think, should I wear something nice too? So, I decide to wear a suit. I pick a black palazzo suit, and it really suits me.

Once I'm ready and step outside in high heels, Geet smirks while sipping juice. My mom says, "Why did you come out wearing this? What's wrong with you? Are you okay?"

Geet is trying to hide her laughter. My mom always roasts me. Ranjeet is feeding the baby with a bottle, and he says, "Mom, Jay is sleeping. don't wake him up. He's exhausted from fighting with me."

My mom says, smiled "Alright, son."

After breakfast, we start heading out—Geet in her car, me in mine.

I glance at Geet and think, today's bound to be an accident if anyone sees her. Just then, I get a call from Moon, but I don't pick up. Then Earth calls.

"Payal."

"Yes, tell me, Earth."

"Meet me. Moon wants to hand over all the evidence to you—all the documents your dad faked, the videos and recordings where he tried to harm Geet."

I say, "Where are you? I'll come to meet."

Earth also calls Geet to calm Payal down. When Payal arrives, Geet is already there. Moon hands over a bag and says, "Everything's in here. Forgive me—I was crazy in love with Geet and wanted to break you two apart."

I say, "Moon, because of you, I hated Geet. You made my life a living hell."

Geet gets up to leave, and I stop her. "Geet, what happened?"

"What do you mean, what happened? You were the one who didn't trust me."

"He's my dad—how could I doubt him?" I say angrily.

"And what was I? Nothing?" Geet asks.

"You were and still are everything. But for me, my dad... I always knew he was bad, but I didn't think he could do something this awful. I was wrong. I'm sorry. But I'll never stand by wrongdoing—I need to know right from wrong, not just think with my emotions like you do."

"Payal! Anyway, our relationship is over, so there's no point in discussing this." They keep arguing at a distance, while Moon and Earth talk quietly.

Moon tells Earth, "This is all my fault. I did everything. I still can't sleep, Earth. I don't know if they'll ever forgive me, but if I can get them back together, maybe my regrets will lessen."

Earth replies, "Moon, are you doing this wedding for them? I mean, you don't love me. there's going to be a huge mess."

Moon holds her head and says, "I can't love anyone else after what I did."

Earth says, "I don't care if you love me or not. You've supported me so much, even just as a friend. I'm lucky to have you, and I'll go along with whatever you want."

Moon says, "Marry me!"

"Huh?"

"Yes, marry me. If we're doing this fake wedding, let's make it real. Otherwise, if they find out, they'll get mad again."

"They won't come to the wedding."

"If you ask them, they will."

Earth calls out to me.

"Will you come to my wedding?" Asked to me.

"Yes, I'll come—but only for you. Moon means nothing to me," I say angrily. And Geet adds, "Earth, I'll come too, but Moon, what you did wasn't right."

Geet says this and starts to leave. Moon's eyes fill with tears, and she says, "I don't know what I was missing that you never loved me."

Geet stops and says, "You weren't lacking anything, but I was already in love with someone else. Why couldn't you understand that love can't be forced?"

Moon wipes her tears and says, "I know, that's why I'm marrying someone who loves me."

Geet starts to leave, saying, "Good for you." I follow Geet and ask, "You still love me, don't you?"

Geet says angrily, "No. Stop following me."

I see how guys are looking at Geet. "Why did you come dressed like this" I ask angrily.

Geet says, "Now you have a problem with my clothes? You're crazy."

"Well, I can't beat up all the guys staring at you."

"That's a good thing," Geet says, getting into the car. I ask, "You could've worn something more formal."

"It's my choice. You're dressed up too, aren't you? Did you see how that guy in the brown shirt was looking at you? Didn't you notice?"

My attention was on you. I didn't see who was looking at me. But my eyes dart to those guys staring at her.

Geet starts the car, "Move away. I have to get to the office."

Geet quickly starts her car and drives off. I get in my car, start it, and head to the office. When I arrive, I see an employee eating while working.

I shout angrily, "What is this? Get up! What's your name? Are you new here? Didn't anyone tell you we don't eat where we work?"

"Sorry, ma'am."

"Name?" I ask loudly, and the entire office goes silent.

"Gaurav."

"Who hired you here? Who's the manager?" I shout.

The manager mentally prays to God. Just then, Geet arrives. Geet sees Payal and says, "Oh hello."

Everyone looks on, shocked—who is this woman talking to payal so casually while she's fuming? Someone even whispers, "Don't go. Ma'am is furious. she'll chew you up."

I glance at Geet, who smiles at the employee, then looks at me.

Geet places a hand on my shoulder and says, "Payal, what's going on here?" Everyone is surprised, silently praying to God to save this beautiful woman because Payal ma'am insults everyone equally, regardless of gender.

I glare at Geet angrily. She raises her eyebrows, silently asking, How are you?

"Geet, you can't interfere here," I say, trying to keep my anger in check. Everyone covers their mouths in shock. Payal speaking calmly? What just happened?

Geet grabs a bag of chips and starts munching. "Gaurav, have some chips. don't worry. I'm here."

Gaurav asks, "Who are you? I've seen your photo in a magazine. You're pretty famous, right? I know you're Geet Singhania, right? I'm a big fan."

Payal snaps at Gaurav, "Shut up!"

Geet says, "Absolutely not. Today, coffee and cupcakes are on me for everyone. Eat at your desks, just keep it clean."

Everyone is in shock, thinking, Usually, Payal ma'am would slap people like this—it's happened before. But who is Geet?

Geet smiles, "Payal, come to the office. I ordered coffee and cupcakes for you too."

"What? You think I'll do that? Why are you giving orders here, Geet? This is my office."

"And who am I? You're not going to listen to me?" Geet says with a seductive look.

Now I get why she wore a saree today. She knows I love it when she wears a saree—I'm captivated, especially seeing her at the saree. She's cheating!

"Fine."

Everyone gasps even louder after hearing this.

Gaurav exclaims, "Do you know black magic? Payal ma'am is listening to you without arguing! I've never seen this before."

"Gaurav, if you have any problem, call me. If Payal bothers anyone here, let me know," Geet says with a grin.

I shoot her an angry glare and storm into the office, while everyone else turns to Geet in wonder.

"Who are you? Payal turned into a little kitten. How did you do that?" Everyone is asking the same question.

Geet just smiles and says nothing.
