Chapter 2 ✔️

National Icon (BoyxBoy)

2 months before...

"Mr King?" A soft voice seeps into Harvey's fast paced dream, "Mr King. The lesson's over." It says again, and Harvey grumbles, swatting a hand out wildly. "Mr King! Wake up!"

Harvey jolts, and sit up straight in his chair, eyes wide and hair resembling a bird's nest, "Huh, wh- Oh crap."

"Yes, 'oh crap' Mr King. You seem to have fallen asleep." Harvey's criminal law professor muses, "You're just lucky that you've only missed the test scores."

Harvey sharpens up at that, sitting forward in his desk. He reaches out to tug the professor's wrist as she walks away, "Wait, Dr. J! What did I get?"

Dr. Jaffry laughs teasingly, "Wow I didn't think you'd actually want to know, considering that you were asleep."

Harvey's face droops and he grips her wrist a little tighter, being mindful not to hurt her, "Please."

She smiles and shakes her head, soft afro hair bouncing ever so slightly with the movement. She'd always liked Harvey anyway, "It was outstanding. You got 85, which would have been surprising if it were anyone else, considering how much you sleep in my class alone. But you pulled it off."

"What!" Harvey's face lights up. He'd spent hours at night studying for that exam, it counted for 40% of the final grade, so he had to pass, "Oh my god, I passed!"

"With flying colors." Dr. Jaffry grins, obviously proud of her best student. Harvey laughs disbelievingly and pulls Dr. Jaffry into a bone crushing hug. And for such a skinny guy, Harvey had a pretty painful death grip.

"Thank you so much, Dr. J." He exhales, relieved that his hard work paid off.

"It's no problem, Harvey." She hugs him back politely and shoos him out of her room.

"So what did you get?" Harvey's best friend asks as he places piles of books on to the shelves... All at once.

"You know you're supposed to put them on one at a time, right?" Harvey notes with a smirk. He places his shoulder bag neatly at the reception desk and takes his place in the chair behind it.

"Of course I know, asshole, I'm not retarded."

"You know that's offensive right?" Harvey scolds him.

"Yeah, well- you're offending me." Chris grumbles but starts to stack the books properly nevertheless.

Harvey smiles triumphantly, basking in the fact that his friend couldn't come up with a decent response and he answers the previous question, "I got 85."

Chris stops working at that admittance and turns to face him. A delighted look on his face, "Dude! That's awesome! Congrats!"

"Thanks man, I worked so hard this time round." Harvey blushes, not used to such

praise.

"Well it paid off." When Chris turns around, the conversation ceases and they both begin to do their respective jobs. Chris re-shelving books that people have left lying around, and Harvey, handling memberships and transactions.

After a comfortable twenty minute silence, Chris decides to break it, "You know some actor came out the other day?"

Harvey looks up, a lot of people were coming out these days. It seems like the community's finally begin to thrive, even though they have a long way to go, "Oh yeah? Which one?"

"Uh. That one in that movie about horses. That cheesy chick flick."

Harvey know what movie is being referred to, and neglects to mention that he absolutely adores that movie and watches it once a month, "Uh, Jefferson Blake."

"Yeah, him." Chris says uncommitted, "Well, to be more accurate, he said he was bisexual. Pretty chill about it actually."

"Hm." Harvey loves Jefferson Blake. He thinks he was extraordinary. But that was expected, considering the height of his mother's talents, "That's cool."

"Dude, don't worry, I know you have a total man crush on that guy. That's why I told you."

"But I'm gay."

Chris furrows his eyebrows, "Yeah... I should know; you had you're whole identity crisis in my dorm."

"So... it's not a man crush... it's just a crush."

Chris squints at him, the room going silent for a few moments before a book is sent flying towards Harvey's face, "Shut up, and get back to work."

Harvey laughs as the book narrowly misses his head, but continues his task nonetheless.
