Chapter 445
The Imposter Bride (Natalia and Magnus)
Natalia cast a puzzled glance at Magnus. âSomethingâs off with you today. Did something happen again?â
Magnus didnât want Natalia to worry, so he kept the harassing phone call he received to himself. Instead, he made up a flimsy excuse.
âHoney, I just watched a video of a mall on fire. It reminded me of our narrow escape that one time, and I got this wave of chills. So, I drove back as fast as I could, scared you mightâve snuck out for some fun and landed yourself in trouble...â
He quickly corrected himself. âKnock on wood! Forget I said anything. Just a bunch of nonsense!â
âAlright, alright,â Natalia said as she playfully placed her hand over Magnusâ mouth. âI know youâre worried about me. I promise I wonât step outside without your say-so. Happy now?â
âThatâs not enough. Youâll need to video call me while Iâm tied up at the office. Thatâs the only way Iâll be at ease.â Magnus was about to insist but then reconsidered, âActually, forget it. Youâll be due soon. Maybe I should just stay home and leave the office work to Gabby.â
Shaking her head with amusement, Natalia replied, âHow can you be so lazy? Itâs your company, after all. She canât make all the decisions for you, can she? Donât worry, Iâm sure weâre safe now.â
Though Natalia reassured him, Magnus couldnât shake his unease. He kissed her forehead tenderly and whispered, âYou know, Iâm invincible in the business world. But you, my dear, are my Achillesâ heel. So please, take care of yourself because, without you, my life would be meaningless.â
Touched, Natalia pulled him closer and sealed her promise with a deep kiss, murmuring softly, âYes, weâre like two swans in flight, only complete when together. I thank my lucky stars for bringing you into my life to love and stand by.â
The kiss stirred emotions in Magnus, and he felt a familiar urge. But this was no time for unspoken desires.
âYouâre too much for me,â he complained with a fake frown. âI need to take a cold shower right now, or Iâll be tempted to...â
âOnce the baby comes, youâll owe me big time.â With that, Magnus rushed off to the bathroom as if chased by fire.
Natalia chuckled to herself. This man, was icy to everyone else, and only showed his true colors around her.
Post-shower, feeling cooled and collected, Magnus grabbed his phone and called Paul, instructing him to fly to Hawaii immediately and bring extra muscle from the familyâs trusted bodyguards.
Loyal as ever, Paul complied without question and went to gather the men.
That afternoon, the Andersen familyâs private jet touched down on the golden sands of Hawaii, unloading eight towering bodyguards with the poise and power of trained fighters. Paul led them straight to Magnusâ villa for inspection.
As Natalia and Magnus enjoyed the sun, she noticed the entourage and asked, âWhatâs Paul up to, bringing all these people?â
âTheyâre the best guards I had Paul bring from home. I just canât stop worrying about you,â Magnus explained, standing up to meet Paul.
As Magnus approached, the bodyguards launched a surprise attack.
âApologies, sir!â they declared, fists flying.
Magnus wasnât caught off-guard, however, and met them with equal force. Despite his skills, he was quickly outmatched. Defeated but not dismayed, Magnus knew they were here to protect Natalia. And if they couldnât take him down, theyâd be no good as bodyguards.
Dusting off his suit, Magnus nodded at Paul in approval. âGood work. Iâm satisfied with your choices.â
Paul bowed respectfully. âAs long as youâre pleased, sir. Itâs what Iâm here for.â
Magnus turned to the bodyguards. âWhatâs your mission?â
âTo protect Mrs. Andersen!â They boomed in unison, their voices thundering.
âAnd your duty?â
âTo ensure her safety, even at the cost of our own lives!â
âWhat do you do in the face of danger?â
âWe fight when we can, retreat when we must, but always keep Mrs. Andersen out of harmâs way!â
âWell done!â Magnus commended them. âPaul chose you for a reason. Keep my wife safe, and Iâll make sure youâre well rewarded!â
âThank you, Mr. Magnus!â The coordinated response echoed with conviction, shaking the very air.
Magnus was beaming with pride as he glanced back at the neatly lined-up bodyguards, their presence as reassuring as the walls of a fortress. He gave a hearty thumbs-up to Paul, who stood with the confidence of a seasoned coach after a winning game. âPaul, man, the synergy these guys have developed in such a short time is nothing short of amazing. Looks like you've done a stellar job training them!"
Paul, ever the modest right-hand man, simply nodded with a smile. "Just doing my duty, boss. You know what they say, 'Train hard, fight easy.'"

"Well, their hard work won't go unrewarded, that's for sure. But let's get down to brass tacks." He gestured towards Natalia, whose baby bump was the epitome of imminent motherhood. "As you can see, my wife is about to bring our little champ into the world, and I won't tolerate even the slightest risk to her wellbeing. I want you to assign detailed protection duties to these eight fine gentlemen. And you, don't head back home just yet. Park yourself at the local office for the time being. That way, I can focus all my energy on pampering my lady."
Paul acknowledged with a respectful nod, already mentally mapping out the logistics. "You got it, boss. Consider everything handled. Natalia and the little one will be as safe as houses."
