Chapter 350
The Imposter Bride (Natalia and Magnus)
With a self-deprecating shake of her head, Diana decided that she couldnât afford to miss this golden opportunity in front of her. With the help of alcohol courage, she made her way towards Magnus. She swayed over to him, lifted her drink, pouted her red lips, and murmured, âMr. Andersen, do you know what Iâve been doing these past few days?â
Magnus took a small step back and asked nonchalantly, âWhat have you been doing?â
âIâve been thinking about you,â Diana confessed, throwing herself into Magnusâ arms. âI donât care, I donât want to go back. I want to stay by your side forever, like your little lamb.â
Magnus cringed at Dianaâs words and swiftly put up his arm to block her advance. âMiss Diana, youâre drunk. You should rest,â he said coldly, his nostrils flaring at the overwhelming scent of her perfume.
Meanwhile, Diana, teetering on her high heels, stumbled and fell against Magnusâ arm.
âGood heavens, Mr. Andersen, I want to be your little lamb,â James mimicked Dianaâs tone, laughing hysterically on the couch. âOh, I canât stand it, Magnus. I canât spend any more time with this woman!â
Magnus shot James a glare, glanced at Diana draped over his arm, and said, âStop laughing and help her to bed.â
Reluctantly, James hoisted Diana off Magnusâ arm and onto the nearby couch, dusting his hands off with a grimace.
Diana passed out, and James said to Magnus, âThis woman is as sly as a fox. Sheâs stubbornly refusing to talk about the design drafts. We canât keep playing this game with her!â
Magnus nodded, his patience running thin. He had yet to find any clues about Natalia. Was he wrong? Were the design drafts actually Dianaâs?
No, it wasnât possible.
Magnus trusted his instincts. Diana was hiding something, and the design drafts bore a striking resemblance to his wifeâs style.
âThatâs it. You can send her back to Rome when she wakes up. Thereâs no point in keeping her here any longer,â Magnus decided, ready to leave. He had hoped to find out about Nataliaâs whereabouts from Diana, but after waiting for so long with no results, he was fed up.
âHmm,â Diana mumbled, slowly waking up, âMr. Andersen, why am I on the couch?â
Magnus paused, feigning a smile. âOh, you got a bit tipsy and decided to take a nap on the couch. Do you still feel dizzy?â
The Imposter Bride (Natalia and Magnus)
Diana, having forgotten about her drunken antics, believed his words. She sat up, her head still spinning, and murmured, âMy head hurts. Why is it so heavy?â
âAre you feeling unwell?â Magnus asked, changing the subject. âBy the way, Miss Diana, youâve been away from home for several days. Your brother must be missing you. When youâre done having fun, let James know, and heâll arrange for you to return to Rome.â
The mention of going back to Rome immediately sobered up Diana. She shook her head vigorously, âNo, no, no, Mr. Andersen. I enjoy being with you and donât want to go back.â
With newfound courage, Diana confessed, âMr. Andersen, after spending these days together, Iâve fallen deeply in love with you. I know you prefer shy and modest women, but I hope you can give me a chance to show you that Iâm far superior to those women, both in work and in life. I can be your loyal companion."
Diana's confession left Magnus stunned. He had noticed her feelings for him but didn't expect her to be so upfront about it. His disgust was evident in his icy gaze.
James, who was still sitting on the couch, laughed at the awkward situation. "Ah, sheâs so straightforward," he thought.
"Miss Diana, I do appreciate your candidness," Magnus said, trying to let her down gently. "And I'm grateful for your feelings towards me. But love doesn't work like that. You can't force someone to love you back. As of now, I only find you adorable, nothing more."
Diana's eyes lit up. "You find me adorable? Mr. Andersen, then you should give me a chance to get closer to you. That way, I can show you how great I am, and you'll fall in love with me, won't you?"
Facing the outspoken Diana, Magnus was quite exasperated. But considering that he still needed information from her, he had to bear it. "Miss Diana, love is beautiful only when it's mutual. We're not there yet."
"Exactly, that's why I need to stick around! The more we hang out, the better chance we have to figure out if we're a match made in heaven, right?"
Diana continued, fervently advocating for her anticipated love story.
Magnus furrowed his brows once more, a hint of a smirk playing at the corners of his mouth. "Alright, Miss Diana, if you truly wish to stay here, why don't you whip up this quarter's signature dish for me? Show me if your culinary skills live up to the hype. As for everything else, we can cross that bridge when we come to it, alright?" Magnus strategized to keep Diana at bay while simultaneously testing if she was all talk and no action.
