CHAPTER 188
CEO
Exactly. He could transfer two hundred million to her account. So why hesitate over ten million?
Nina looked down, feeling a pang of bitterness in her heart. He was good, really good. But each act of kindness felt like a stab to her heart, making it difficult to move on while also causing her pain. Xander smiled and promptly recited his bank account number. Nash took out his phone and made a call. âTransfer ten million to this account immediately!â
The woman hiding behind them panicked at the sight. No, this couldnât happen! Nina had to disappear completely!
A message alert sounded on Xanderâs phone. He checked the message: the bank had sent him a notification. He glanced at the balance: ten million! It was more money than he had ever seen in his life. Xander felt excited and happy as he put his phone in his pocket. âHow can I be sure youâll let me go once I release Nina?â he asked.
Nash replied, âThereâs a car here. You can drive away. I wonât stop you.â
âThen let me go.â
Xander noticed a multitude of parked cars outside. Once he left, he knew he would be completely safe. With the money he held in his hand, he could vanish and begin a new life with his wife and daughter in a place where no one could recognize them. Everything would improve.
The womanâs eyes turned cold as ice upon witnessing this scene. She couldnât stay here any longer. Fortunately, she had a backup plan in case things went wrong and she found herself caught in the middle of a conflict.
There was a rear exit, and with everyoneâs attention fixed on Xander, she slipped away unnoticed.
As they stepped outside, Xander held Nina hostage. Nash trailed behind, his palms growing clammy at the sight of blood on Ninaâs neck. He feared that any misstep could inflict more harm upon her, a risk he couldnât afford.
Xander guided Nina towards the car. Despite his earlier harsh behavior, they both emerged unharmed. He had no intention of harming her, and no major errors were made.
He glanced at Nina and let out a
sigh. âNina, I apologize for this. I found myself in a difficult situation as well. If you had given me the
money, none of this would have net
occurred. Now that I have it,
promise not to harm you. Iâll release you if you cooperate and fet me leave peacefully.â
âWith this money, our family wonât need Zionâs or your help anymore.â
Deep down, Xander knew that his selfishness had harmed his family. âIâve been a burden on my brother alt these years. It wonât happen again. Iâll take them overseas to live. Go back and tell your father that itâs better off without me as a brother!â
Nina felt a sudden bitterness upon hearing his words. Her father always described them as close brothers
who grew up together, but something had changed. Out of
respect for her father, she still saw
him as her uncle.
Having spoken, Xander pushed Nina aside and hastily entered the car. Nina fell to the ground but was caught by Nash.
âAre you alright?â Nash asked.
Nina didnât want him to apply too much force, so she supported herself and didnât put too much weight on him. She was afraid he might get hurt again because of her.
Nash held her neck, examining her wound. âLuckily, the wound isnât deep. Weâll go to the hospital later, but as forâ¦â
Before he could finish his sentence, there was a deafening explosion.
âBang!â
Ninaâs heart skipped a beat as she turned to see flames erupting right before her eyes!
