CHAPTER 178
CEO
Nash avoided all contact with others. Quincy stood at the doorway, politely informing Miranda, âMiss Lewis, Mr. York is resting. He said you donât have to worry about him and should go back to the set.â Miranda responded, âThatâs alright. Iâve already taken a leave of absence and the director has approved it. Iâll come back after heâs discharged.â
Quincy found himself in a dilemma. He gently commented, âMr. York needs rest.â
Miranda glanced at the ward, understanding what he meant.
She wasnât upset and said, âCould you please give this to Nash for me? Iâll bring over Sallyâs cooked meals when I return.â
âOf course, Miss Lewis,â Quincy replied, taking the document.
When he saw the bold letters on the paper, he too was shocked. Miranda said goodbye and left. Her assistant asked, âWhy didnât you go inside? Itâs a rare opportunity.â
âNo rush,â Miranda replied. âThere will be plenty more opportunities in the future. I should go back to the York residence first.â
She had more important matters to attend to.
Inside the ward, Quincy hesitated, unsure whether to hand over the document.
Nash kept his eyes closed, but sensing Quincyâs presence nearby. He asked, âWhatâs wrong?â
Reluctantly, Quincy handed him the document. âMr. York, it appears to be from Nina,â he said.
Nash opened his eyes and looked down.
The words âDivorce Agreementâ stood out starkly. His expression dropped, and he asked, âWhen was this delivered?â
Quincy replied, âMiss Lewis gave it to me. It seems to be from Nina to her.â
Nash held the divorce agreement in disbelief. It wasnât until he opened the document and saw Ninaâs signature that reality hit him.
His already grim expression turned even darker. Divorce-she said it and meant it. How liberating! Nina truly delivered quite the surprise! Nashâs grip tightened, his knuckles turning white. Displeased, he crumpled the divorce agreement and tossed it away.
Nina arrived at the police station to find Lily and Sue, who had been there for hours facing allegations of slander, public disorder, and extortion.
Lily, eager to see Nina, greeted her by saying, âNina, youâre finally here. Weâve been waiting for you.â
Sue, desperate for forgiveness, pleaded with her cousin, âNina, my mom and I deeply regret what we did. We are truly sorry. Please donât blame us.â However, Nina remained unmoved by their words and responded coldly, âIâm here to provide my statement, not to listen to your grievances!â
She turned her attention to the police and asked, âWhen can we begin?â
The police inquired, âAre you absolutely certain that you want to press charges against them?â
Without hesitation, Nina replied firmly, âYes, I am sure!â
With Nina remaining unmoved by any pleas and showing complete disregard for her dignity, Lily shouted once again. âNina, I have begged you so many times, yet you still want to sue me and your cousin. Youâll face retribution! Your uncle will never forgive you!â
Knowing that their behavior would not change, Nina realized that forgiving them this time would only result in more trouble in the future. She was not like her father; being soft-hearted would only make her life worse. âSay what you want,â Nina responded. âLet us follow the law.â
The police then directed Nina, saying, âMiss Walker, this way, please.â
