CHAPTER 169
CEO
Regardless of his anger, Nash should not joke about his own health. However, Nash couldnât focus on Quincyâs words because his mind was consumed with Ninaâs decision to leave. When did it become her turn to leave him behind?
âCall Nina,â Nash said, his expression icy.
Quincy hesitated, not fully comprehending Nashâs intentions. Their marriage reaching this point was unexpected and bewildering. No wonder they kept it a secret. Quincy used to believe that Nash loved Nina, but now it appeared that his love wasnât as strong as he had imagined.
Taking out his phone, Quincy said, âAlright, Mr. York.â
He dialed Ninaâs number. Coincidentally, Nina happened to be at home with her parents at that moment.
Zion insisted on being discharged from the hospital even though the doctor said his fracture wasnât severe. They agreed to let him leave, but there was a lingering silence among them. They avoided discussing the incident, even though their faces didnât show much happiness.
Lily and Sue were both called to the police station on charges of defamation and disturbing public order. The evidence against them was conclusive, and they would have to face legal consequences. The police asked Nina if she wanted to press charges.
She wanted to deal with her parents first before going to the police station. As soon as she got home, she received a phone call. Thinking it might be from the police station, she told Julia, âMom, Iâll take this call.â
âOkay,â Julia thought that since Nina and Nash were getting divorced, it wouldnât be appropriate for her to stay at the York residence to avoid gossip. She said, âNina, Iâll tidy up your room. You can stay at home for now.â
Nina nodded and stepped out, quickly answering the call, âHello.â
âNina, itâs Quincy here.â
Quincy spoke, suddenly unsure of what to say, his gaze shifting to Nash, not knowing his instructions. Since it wasnât a call from the police station, Nina asked, âWhatâs wrong, Quincy?â
She thought Quincy had some questions, Nash remained expressionless, calmly stating, âTell Nina that my clothes are stained with blood and itâs uncomfortable. I need to change into a new set.â
Quincy immediately relayed the message, saying, âMr. York said his clothes are covered in blood and itâs uncomfortable. He needs a new set.â
This statement momentarily surprised Nina. Why did Nash want to change clothes and involve her? Nina pursed her lips and said, âHe wants to change clothes. Canât you help him with that?â Quincy glanced at Nash. Indeed, why would Nash need Ninaâs help to change clothes? Quincy covered the receiver and said, âMr. York, Nina says you can ask me for the new clothes.â Nashâs expression darkened, his tone cold again, âThere are plenty of clothes at home. Let her fetch them.â
âNina, Mr. York says there are plenty of clothes at home. He suggests you fetch them,â Quincy relayed.
âYou could go yourself?â Nina couldnât understand. âIâm at home right now and Iâm busy.â
âMr. York, Nina says sheâs busy,â Quincy didnât want to trouble Nina further. âMr. York, should I go and get the clothes for you?â
But Nash said, âYou wouldnât know where they are.â After a pause, he added, âTell Nina, itâs getting cold, I want the white checkered sweater. Only she knows where it is.â
Quincy relayed the message again.
Nina stood by the window, watching the maple leaves fall outside. The weather was getting cooler, and it was indeed time to bring out the winter clothes. She added, âThe clothes are stored in the walk-in closet on the left side. The helper can find them with a little searching.â
