CHAPTER 141
CEO
Grandpa Georgeâs words resonated deeply with her. Having experienced so many wars, he understood how precious the present days were. A strong nation was less likely to be bullied, so it was essential to safeguard this homeland.
Though Nina hadnât lived through the cruelty of that era, she could still recognize that Grandpa Georgeâs most glorious moments were in his youth. Even as he aged, he still harbored a desire to contribute more to the country.
Grandpa Georgeâs eyes welled up as he spoke. Nina listened attentively, noticing the scars left on his legs from gunshot wounds, which revealed the hardships they had endured.
âGrandpa George, our country is strong now, and there are many talented individuals. Thereâs little chance of war happening,â Nina comforted him.
âYou shouldnât be too complacent,â Grandpa George cautioned.
Suddenly, he chuckled, âBut thereâs no shortage of talent. Nash is a prime example. Achieving feats at such a young age. Itâs all thanks to his grandfather. He insisted on Nash returning home to inherit the family business. If he had stayed with me, he might have been even more remarkable than I was in my youth.â
This remark caught Nina off guard. Nashâs youth likely referred to when he was in his teens, the first time she had seen him. Could he have been on a mission back then?
Changing the subject, Grandpa George continued, âNina, I confide in you as if you were my own, but please donât discuss this with others.â
âOkay,â Nina agreed.
Nash had mentioned that their families didnât interact to avoid suspicion. Grandpa George also emphasized not revealing Nashâs past association with him. It seemed to be a sensitive matter, so she made a mental note of it.
She pushed Grandpa George outside and covered him with a blanket. The breeze was gentle and warm, and Grandpa Georgeâs complexion looked good.
Nina had an understanding of
Grandpa Georgeâs preferences. She knew that he had a sweet tooth, but with old age, he had to be mindful of his teeth and rarely indulged. She had inquired and occasional treats posed no major issues.
When Grandpa George saw a child with candy, his eyes lit up with longing. Seeing a vendor selling candy floss outside, she went and bought a pack. Candy floss was easier for the elderly to consume. Grandpa George was even happier now, taking the pack of candy floss from Ninaâs hand with a smile.
âNina, we havenât been together long, but you already know I love sweets. Youâre like my own granddaughter!â he exclaimed.
Nina reminded him, âYou can have it once in a while. But you canât have any for the rest of this month.â
âOkay, got it,â Grandpa George agreed.
He savored every bite this time. Seeing Grandpa George so content, Nina couldnât help but smile. She enjoyed being with him.
However, in a quick glance, she noticed Nash hurrying off. Was he preparing to leave the hospital? Not seeing Linda, could her injuries be severe?
Nina frowned as she watched him go in the direction of the obstetrics and gynecology department. If Linda was just injured from the accident, she would likely be in the orthopedic department, not there.
Grandpa George also noticed Nashâs departure but didnât inquire much. Instead, he remarked, âNina, Nash just left the hospital. Why arenât you with him? Is he going to see someone?â
Sensing something amiss, Grandpa George warned, âHeâs leaving from the obstetrics and gynecology department. Be careful.â
