CHAPTER 130
CEO
He was remarkably observant, noticing that she experienced stomach pains during her period. This took Nina by surprise. She used to believe that even if she spent her entire life with him, he might never truly understand her preferences or her health condition. If she ever became ill, he might be the last to know.
But now, with the passage of time, even if he didnât wish to remember it, he would inevitably remember.
Nina blew on the ginger tea, then drank it all in one go.
âRest well,â Nash carefully tucked her in.
Nina gazed at him and asked, âWhere are you going later?â
âIâll be at home, not going anywhere,â Nash replied.
Nina would wonder where he would be today, considering he wasnât home a few days ago.
There were so many places he could be, but eventually, he would settle somewhere.
Nash noticed the disappointment on her face. The next moment, he lay down and slipped under the covers, his hand resting on her abdomen. âIs it still hurting?â
Ninaâs body tensed, staring at Nash. âHow come youâre lying down?â
âJust keeping you company.â Nashâs hand gently stroked her belly, trying to alleviate her pain. âWill this help?â
Nina pursed her lips, feeling guilty deep down. She had to continue with the lie. âItâs getting better.â
âDonât stay up too late,â Nashâs voice was soft and low, advising, âStaying up late disrupts your hormones. Take care of your body, otherwise, youâll suffer every time.â His caring words made Nina feel a pang of bitterness. He also had such a caring side.
Nina added, âActually, I was quite surprised today when you took me to see Grandpa George. And you even introduced me as your wife in front of him.â
Nash hesitated for a moment before asking, âDid it bother you?â
Nina shook her head. âNot really.â
âAs long as youâre not bothered.â Nash was still Pconcerned that she might mind, feeling that he had exposed their relationship without her consent. He also feared that she might have reservations about this identity.
Nina didnât say anything more, but she felt that Nash seemed to be increasingly considering her feelings and respecting her.
Yet, whenever she thought about how he had married her just to use her, all the beautiful illusions shattered.
âGrandpa Georgeâs son died
unexpectedly while on a mission,â Nash whispered softly in her ear. âHeâs getting old and doesnât have anyone by his side. He keeps
postponing treatment e
when
heâs sick. He used to enjoy lively company but now itâs gotten pretty lonely. Iâve been tied up with work and havenât been able to drop by. You should pay him more visits.â
Nina didnât expect this additional information. âHe passed away? Does he have any children left?â
âHe has one granddaughter,â Nash replied.
âThen Grandpa George must be quite pitiful.â
Such a friendly old man going through such hardships.
âYeah,â Nash stopped there. âLooks like youâre tired too. You should rest.â
Perhaps it was his warmth that made her quickly fall asleep in his arms.
Nina was awakened by a phone call. Just as she answered, she heard Juliaâs urgent voice, âNina, come to the hospital quickly. Your dad fell!â
âWhat?â Nina was still groggy, but immediately woke up, sitting up straight. âMom, Iâm coming right away!â
After quickly getting ready, she rushed to the hospital. As she reached the door of the ward, she heard voices arguing inside.
Her second aunt was nagging, âZion,
I just wanted you to help us out a bit.
Was it necessary to hurt yourself? Iâm begging you, itâs not just for my sake, itâs for your younger brother. Heâs your only sibling, and if
OV
something were to happen to him, youâd regret it.â
