Chapter 31

Warlocks and Unfulfilled Moments

Alpha's Little Mate

RHIANNON

When we land in Greenland, we’re met by several cars. As we step onto the tarmac, Hunter jumps out of the first vehicle.

“Jacko! Annie!” he shouts over the wind.

Isaac pulls him into a quick hug. “Thank you for coming out so quickly. I’m surprised you beat us!”

“Yeah, I left as soon as you called, man. Let’s deal with this threat immediately. Did you learn anything else about Julius?”

“Yeah, let’s talk in the car, my luna is going to freeze.”

“When did you call him?” I ask Isaac quietly as we slide into a car.

“This morning. Shazi reached out to Rhodes and told him about Ommin, so I called Hunter and asked him to come. I emailed him an update about Julius as soon as I heard about it.”

I nod. His friends work really fast.

“So, the vampire we captured said that the fairies have a traitor. Someone leaked information to Julius about Annie and about how to breach the defenses to gain access to Mag Mell.”

“Shit. No info about who the traitor is?”

“He said it’s a female. That’s part of the reason we left so quickly.

“I don’t think Sabina, Alix, or Shazi would go through the trouble of hiding Annie if they were the insider, but just in case, I wanted to get her out of there.

“Shazi doesn’t know we’re coming here. Alpha Mateo volunteered to be our distraction.

“I had Rhodes call her and tell her we were returning to a neighboring pack in Nevada to lay low for a while before pursuing more answers.”

“Well, if he has unwanted visitors, we’ll know it must be one of those fairies,” Hunter tells him.

“Exactly, we have to take extra precautions. Vampires can smell that she’s a fairy now. We can’t let them near her.”

Hunter turns to me and asks, “Do you still want to be called Annie?”

I smile at how considerate he is. I haven’t given it much thought.

“Yes. I don’t remember Rhiannon, I don’t feel like that’s my name. It would feel weird to go by that now. I’m still Annie.”

He nods.

Isaac squeezes my thigh and rubs his hand in small comforting circles.

When we make it to our location, Isaac lets out an irritated groan. We are nestled into a small clearing in a dense forest. There are a few small cabins scattered throughout the area.

Hunter and I laugh at his reaction. I know exactly why he doesn’t want to be in a small cabin surrounded by a bunch of other people.

I smirk at him and he rolls his eyes, but I can tell he’s biting back a smile.

Our cabin is definitely small. It’s a single room with a large tub in the corner and a fireplace spread across one wall.

Isaac sits on the double bed on the wall opposite the fireplace and it creaks, loudly. He groans and falls back on the mattress.

“We’ll have to be quiet,” I whisper as I climb over him on the squeaking bed.

“It’s not me that I’m worried about, little mate,” he sits up so that our chests are flush against each other.

I knot my hands through his hair and tug gently. A growl slips through his lips as I grind my hips down against his.

“It seems that we have differing memories when it comes to noise, Alpha. If I remember correctly, there can definitely be some ‘raucous noise’ coming from you as well.”

He laughs against my mark.

“I can’t help it, you feel so good, I lose control.”

He barely moves on the bed and a loud, high-pitched whine causes us both to laugh.

“Everyone probably thinks I’m fucking you right now, this damn bed is so loud,” he groans.

“Isaac!” I swat his chest.

“Don’t act like you don’t like it. You love my mouth.” He pushes his hips up between my legs.

“Mm, I do, I do love your mouth, it’s incredibly talented.”

“We don’t have much time, but I’m sure I can oblige my little mate for a moment. Would you like a little preview of my talented mouth?”

I’m breathless against his chest.

“Yes, Alpha.”

He growls and flips us in one swift motion so that my body is trapped against the mattress below his hard body.

He rips my pants down quickly and wastes no time pushing his face into the apex of my thighs.

I bite down on my lip so hard that I’m sure I’m going to bite clean through.

The bed creaks beneath my writhing body as his long arms run up the length of me, pinning me down.

His tongue laps at me and I feel pleasure building so quickly that my body begins to shake. I feel my stomach tighten into an unbearable knot.

“I-Isaac, please…I’m…” I have to clap my hand down over my mouth to keep a loud moan from escaping.

Just as I feel the tingling in my spine begin to travel down my legs, there is a knock at the door.

“Fuck,” Isaac sits up and rubs his hand over his mouth. “What!” he yells loudly, his voice booming into the quiet cabin.

“Alpha,” Madelyn says quietly, “I’m sorry to disturb you, but we need you out here.”

“Coming,” he says through clenched teeth.

He pulls away from me slowly and I whimper.

“I’m sorry, angel. I’ll make it up to you later, I promise.” His voice is strained as he hands me my pants from the floor.

His rock-hard length pushes prominently against his pants. I reach forward and let my hand push against him. He bucks his hips forward into my palm.

He chokes out a breath that sounds like a sob.

“If you don’t stop, I won’t be able to leave this room.”

I pull my hand back and pull my pants on over my aching core.

Isaac leans down, caging me between his strong arms.

“I’ll take care of you later, I promise, baby.”

I reach up and palm him again, with a wink. “Likewise, Alpha.”

He throws his head back and groans before adjusting himself and walking angrily toward the door.

As soon as we step outside, I see him. An unusually thin man with a long gray beard and a crooked nose sits near a roaring fire.

In the few minutes that we were busy in our cabin, the camp transformed. There is a large fire surrounded by logs and chairs, and several tents pitched around the grounds.

The thin man jumps up and hobbles toward me, leaning heavily on a cane.

“Rhiannon.” His voice is hoarse and deep, not what I was expecting from him. “I was sure I would never see you again.”

I smile uncomfortably and nod lightly, then reach for Isaac’s hand.

“Oh, dear. I’m sorry, I’ve forgotten, of course you don’t remember me. I’m Ommin. I’ve known you since you were a little girl.”

“You can’t reverse my memory loss without causing me to lose my current memories?” I ask him, hoping he’ll give me a different answer.

“Sorry, dear. I’m afraid that can’t be done. I understand you’ve found your mate in your new life. Your past self would have been thrilled to hear that.”

I perk up—he’s the first person who seems like he really knew me before.

I step forward excitedly. “Why? Why would I have been so excited to hear that? How was my old life? What was I like?”

I pause to take a breath and he smiles.

“Your personality hasn’t changed much other than you seem much happier. You were…very lonely.” He hesitates.

“Your parents died when you were young. You and your sister Mirele were very sheltered. Because of your wings you were treated…differently.

“You longed for love and it pleases me to see you found it.”

I squeeze Isaac’s hand.

“I have a sister?”

He looks surprised by this question.

“Um…had. She died when Mag Mell fell.”

“Oh.” What a strange sensation to mourn for someone that you didn’t know existed until one minute ago.

Isaac wraps his arm around my waist and pulls me into his chest. His hand rests on my neck, rubbing his finger lightly over my mark.

“Can you please try to think of something, anything, that can give me my memories without erasing my current ones?”

He sighs and rubs his beard slowly. “I’ll try, dear, but please don’t hold out hope.”
