Chapter 25

Disco Inferno

Alpha's Little Mate

RHIANNON

I’m hiding in the bathroom with the dresses Madelyn dropped off earlier. She ran out to a boutique and grabbed a few things for us to wear tonight. Club attire was not something that I packed for.

I’m not exactly sure what she was going for, but I think her goal overall is to have Isaac leave me at the hotel.

I’m not sure how he is going to react to these dresses, but I can’t imagine him wanting anyone else to see me in them.

The only saving grace is the thick tights I’ll be wearing; maybe the fact that I’m not technically showing skin will calm him down.

One dress is a skintight, leopard print mini with long sleeves. The other is long-sleeved burgundy velvet with a tight bodice and loose, swinging skirt.

I really like the burgundy dress, but because it’s so short and the skirt is not tightly fitted, I’m nervous about it flying up whenever I move.

I pull on the warm tights and ankle boots.

“Angel? Are you ready? We’re leaving in a few minutes,” Isaac knocks on the door, causing me to jump.

“Be right out!”

I grab the burgundy dress and pull it on. It’s very short but I feel good about it. If I bend over, even slightly, you can see some of my ass; luckily, the tights are opaque.

I quickly grab my long black jacket and put it on, pulling the sash closed around my waist to hide my dress. As I open the bathroom door, there is a knock at the front door.

Isaac looks at me with a small smile before pulling the door open to reveal Rhodes and Madelyn waiting on the other side.

“You look beautiful, let’s go,” Isaac reaches for my hand.

I don’t miss Madelyn rolling her lips into her mouth to hide her smile. She knew exactly what she was doing when she picked those dresses.

I send her a sneaky wink and we head toward the elevator.

Luckily, the valet has the car already pulled forward with the heat blasting when we step outside.

The car is silent for a moment before Rhodes clears his throat.

“Um, I feel like I should warn you. I’ve been told his club is…weird.”

“How so?” Isaac asks calmly.

“It’s kind of a secret type place. The kind of place where non-humans can be found,” he explains further.

“I figured as much. We all need to be alert and guarded. No alcohol and no straying from the group. We stick together and watch out for one another.”

Isaac’s tone is serious, authority dripping from every word.

“Yes, Alpha,” Rhodes and Madelyn say together.

We drive for nearly an hour, leaving the city behind. In the distance, lights cut through the darkness. A large warehouse surrounded by cars and people comes into view.

As we step out of the car, I’m surprised by how quiet it is. The chatter of people is the only sound cutting through the cold, dark air.

As we walk into the large warehouse, we all have the same confused expression.

The large building is filled with different seating areas. Groups of people are spread out throughout the room, quietly talking with the people seated near them.

Rhodes nods to Isaac before stepping toward a group of girls and speaking quietly to them. One of the girls smiles widely before standing and leading Rhodes away.

We follow them toward the back of the warehouse, to a long, dark staircase that appears to go underground.

We walk carefully down the stairs. At the bottom, we are met by a large metal door. The girl pulls it open and we all enter a very small room. A man is standing in front of another large metal door.

“Pull that door all the way closed,” he says gruffly.

After Isaac pulls the door closed, the man pushes the other door open. Immediately, the small room starts to shake as loud, rumbling music blasts through the tiny space.

We step into a huge room with blinding red lights. The floor vibrates from the loud music and the gyrating crowd.

This is more or less what I expected when we entered upstairs. The room is buzzing with heat and excitement.

A large bar runs along one side of the room with a huge dance floor and a loft area with seating.

There are long vines with neon colored flowers everywhere, like we’re inside a strange alien forest. They hang from the ceiling, wrap around the light fixtures, and cover the walls like ivy.

The air feels thick and humid. The red lights cast an eerie glare over everything. Large cages hang from the ceiling where naked women are dancing.

This place sort of feels like a fever dream. As I scan the crowd, I feel a strange pull, like I want to run in and dance among them.

I feel slightly drunk as we walk deeper and deeper into this hot pit of chaos. We make our way through the hordes of people to the rickety staircase leading up to the loft.

I see several people involved in different sexual experiences, some with one person, some involving several.

Isaac lightly grabs the back of my neck, gently, drawing my attention back to our group.

Madelyn clears the glasses off of a table near the plexiglass balcony so we can look down over the crowd.

I pull my jacket off and lay it over my chair. I feel Isaac’s chest vibrate against my back. When I turn to meet his gaze, his eyes are wide and his mouth is set in a tight line.

“Little mate,” he growls against my ear, his arm aggressively snaking around my waist.

“Yes, Alpha?” I ask him innocently, feeling sexual and brave. This club is feeding my already insatiable desire for him.

I feel the vibration from his chest again. I know that if the loud music wasn’t blasting through the room, everyone would be able to hear his frustrated growl.

I turn in his arms, pushing my chest into his and rising up on my toes to reach his ear. “Too bad we’re here for business, I would love to dance with you.”

He groans and drops his face into my neck.

“This is important, baby. We need to keep our eyes open. Please don’t push this because I won’t be strong enough to turn you down,” he says against my ear.

I can’t help the smile that covers my face. He makes me feel so beautiful and powerful. He’s so strong and amazing, and I affect him.

The same way that he can bring me to my knees, I have a certain power over him. It’s exhilarating.

“Well, let’s hurry up and do what we came to do. Maybe we can dance a little bit when we get back to the hotel tonight,” I smile against his ear.

I see him mouth a silent “fuck” as we take our seats.

Rhodes is completely focused on the crowd. He’s intently scanning over the dance floor.

I know I should be doing the same thing, but I’m not even sure I’ll be able to make out an individual person, let alone pick an unknown fairy from the crowd.

A few tables away a girl with long, plush curls dances on a man sitting at a table. Her tiny dress reveals her skin covered in tattoos.

She has faces tattooed all over her body, a few famous ones that I recognize, most that I don’t. Her body rolls over the man and we make eye contact.

She smiles at me as she grinds into the man beneath her.

My hand instinctively drops to Isaac’s thigh. I feel him tense under my touch and I run my hand up his leg. When I turn to face him, his features are distorted, like I’m looking at him through water.

He’s saying something to me but it sounds strange. I try to force myself to focus. My brain feels foggy and I almost can’t remember why we’re here.

After what feels like forever, he stands and leans over to Isaac, telling him something. Moments later we’re all rushing down the stairs toward the bar.

Madelyn grabs me by the arm and keeps me pulled into her side. As the three of them break into a half circle formation, I see who they are trying to surround.

A petite man is standing at the bar. I can’t see his face, but he has dark hair pulled into a bun. I giggle—for some reason this situation is striking me as very funny.

Rhodes taps his shoulder. When the man turns to face him, Isaac steps forward and grabs his other arm.

The man’s large eyes widen with fright, but he doesn’t put up a fight as they lead him toward the exit.

Madelyn holds my arm tightly as we follow behind them. When we enter the small room at the door, he tries to speak but Isaac stops him.

“Wait,” his voice is rough, almost unrecognizable to me.

As we walk through the warehouse, I can see that he’s dragging his feet slightly and he’s actually being pulled.

I feel the same way—my legs aren’t working properly and Madelyn is basically carrying me out.

“He does smell different from a human,” Madelyn whispers quietly.

As we step outside it’s like I’m slapped in the face. My mind is instantly clear and the club that I walked out of only seconds ago feels like a far off memory.

When we get to the car, Rhodes pulls him into the backseat. Madelyn slides into the other side, forcing him into the middle seat. Isaac and I sit in the front.

I turn around to face him and his eyes go wide when he sees me. It doesn’t look like recognition, like he knows me, just that he’s surprised.

Isaac’s voice breaks the silence in the car. He doesn’t yell, but his tone is so menacing that it makes me nervous. I can’t imagine how this guy is feeling.

“What is your name?”

“Cleon,” his voice trembles when he speaks.

“Cleon, do you know a fairy named Sabina?”

“No, I don’t,” he shakes his head.

“Don’t fucking lie to me!”

“I swear, I don’t know every single fairy, sir. I swear!”

“We need to find her—” Isaac starts.

“Look, I don’t know her, but there is a place you can go. I can give you the coordinates. Someone there might know her!” he rushes out in one breath.

“Type them in.” Rhodes hands him a phone. When Cleon hands the phone back, Rhodes’s brows furrow and he hands the phone to Isaac.

“Iceland?” Isaac asks skeptically.

“Yes, it’s out in the middle of nowhere, but you will find fairies there,” Cleon says with sadness in his voice.

“Why are you so quick to give us this information? What if we’re planning on hurting Sabina? Don’t you have any loyalty to your kind?” Rhodes says angrily.

“Not anymore. It’s every man for himself now,” he says, his voice is thick with despair. “Just go there, find the waterfall.”

“What about Sybil? She was a wolf that met two of your kind here. Did you know her?” Isaac questions him again.

“I’ve only been here in Toronto for a few weeks, when were they here?” Cleon asks.

Rhodes shakes his head silently before sliding from his seat and letting Cleon out.

Before he slips from the car, Cleon looks at me for a moment, almost like he wants to say something but decides against it.

When Rhodes takes his seat again, the car is quiet for a moment before Madelyn speaks.

“Do we believe him?”

“I don’t know if he’s telling the truth, but I have heard that fairies are connected to Iceland,” Rhodes shrugs.

“He said find the waterfall. The nearest waterfall to those coordinates is the Goðafoss.” Madelyn shows us a picture on her phone.

Isaac has been quiet through all of this.

“We’re going to Iceland,” he says as he turns to Madelyn and me.

“I would like to come, if that’s all right, Alpha,” Rhodes asks quietly. Isaac nods his head and turns around in his seat.

“We’ll leave on the next available flight.”
