Torn Sobs
Mafia Mistake #Wattys2017
Alessa's P.O.V
I felt protected as I stayed glued to the side of Alonso as we crept down the eerily barren hallway. Alonso's eyes darting to every inch of the hallway before us, his body moving in fluid motion as he speedily paced down the hallway. Whereas I was struggling to keep up, my arms shaking from the fear that was streaking through my body, causing my heart to pound at a galloping rate.
"Do you even know where Ali is?" I whispered as I came up next to Alonso. My eyes scanning his seemingly expressionless face, yet I could see his mind working at lightening speed.
"From what I saw inside the CCTV room, she should be down this next corridor to our right," he murmured quickly before taking off again down the next turning, with me hastily trotting to catch up with his long strides.
He quickly rounded on a steel door similar to the one that locked me inside my room. Glancing up at Alonso I saw him quickly examine the seemingly complex lock.
"There's an alarm on this door, therefore once I shoot off the bolt on the door you have to run and get her out before any remaining guards come chasing us down," he quickly said, his hand flexed over the trigger on his gun as I backed away from the towering steel door.
Alonso, without hesitation, quickly fired a round of bullets at the bulky lock. I watched as it dropped heavily to the ground before a ear spilling alarm rang out in the corridor causing me to flinch back from the abrupt noise.
Taking one quick look at Alonso I pushed the door open. My eyes quickly snapped to every corner of the room before my eyes landed on a small head of tousled blonde locks. Ali's familiar frame crouched over in a small corner, her shoulders sagged as her blonde locks laid limp against her hunched back.
I quickly ran forwards, "Ali," I whispered, relief coursing through me as my friends head whipped around and her bloodshot eyes met mine.
Quickly crouching down to her, I embraced her into a hug, thanking the heavens she wasn't hurt.
"Oh my god," I breathed into her hair," Im glad your not hurt," I murmured before pulling away and wiping her tear stained cheeks as she meekly smiled at me.
"I'm so sorry I pulled you into all this mess Ali," I gushed, my hands laced with hers.
Shaking her head, she let out s low chuckle.
"It's ok Alessa, I'm jut glad you found me," she replied lowly, her hands reaching up and running through her matted hair.
"As much as this is a touching moment ladies, we've got to move," Alonso's voice rang out into the barren chamber. Nodding, I pulled Ali up before pulling her out the door.
"Any guards come yet?" I asked, practically shouting over the blaring alarm that continued to ring out in the corridor.
Shaking his head, he quickly motioned to follow him. Grabbing Ali's hand again we continued to jog down the corridor.
A quick squeeze came from Ali, causing me to look over at her. Her mouth was turned into a slight smirk.
"Who is that?" She mouthed, nodding her head towards Alonso who was a few steps ahead of us.
Rolling my eyes I mouthed back, "Alonso, he's Angelo's friend," before watching Ali take in Alonso's towering figure as we moved.
Before my lips could open again, a mass of men rounded the corner as we froze in the hallway. My eyes widened as I zeroed in on the much more powerful weapons they clutched in their leather hands.
I quickly placed Ali behind me before I pulled my pistol forward, the weapon seeming like a child's toy.
My jaw clenched as I saw Alonso's muscles tense before he slowly pulled out a larger gun from his back pocket.
I slowly scanned the five men before us, each of them built in size as well as bulk, therefore close range attack wouldn't benefit my size.
Before I could register what was happening, a bullet whizzed pat my cheek, leaving a burning sensation in its wake. A gasp escaped my lips as my fingers brushed against a hot liquid substance that was now staining my cheek.
Alonso didn't hesitate to begin firing, instantly taking out two of the men closer to the front. I soon snapped out of my shock induced trance as adrenaline replaced my fear and I fired bullets at the remaining men. My bullets each hitting them in their shoulders before they fell to the ground in pain and low groans escaped their mouths.
"I never knew you could shoot so well," Ali whispered in my ear causing a small smile to break out across my face.
"Just a gift I guess," I replied quickly before tucking my gun back into my pocket and running forwards again, making sure to take care on stepping on the helpless guards splayed out on the floor.
Quickly racing up the stairs, we finally broke out of the building, the cool air hitting my face as the early morning Ray's peeked on the horizon.
Chaos was still erupting around me, gun fires continued to ring out, yet more bodies of men from both sides lay scattered on the ground, motionless.
Alonso quickly tugged on my arm causing me to tear my eyes away from the grim landscape.
"We've got to go, Angelo told me to take you both to the Mafia safe house," he yelled over the gun shots.
My brows furrowed as my worries floated towards where Angelo was and his health. Shaking my head, I pulled away earning a deep frown the cross Alonso's features.
"I have to find Angelo," I said, my eyes scanning the worry on Alonso's face.
Shaking his head again he quickly reached to grab me but I quickly sidestepped him.
"Take Ali and go, I don't want her hurt," I continued as I glanced over at Ali her eyes intently staring at me with raw intensity.
"Aless-" Alonso began but I quickly cut him off.
"Alonso, I have to find him, I wouldn't be able to live with myself if something happened to him," I stated, causing Alonso's lips the turn into a flat line.
Sighing, he quickly brought me into an embrace, his large arms encaging me into his chest as his head leaned on my shoulder.
"You drag his ass home alive then, you got me?" He whispered, the hint of a smile of his voice as he pulled away.
Nodding, I watched as he quickly grabbed Ali's hand and jogged off in the opposite direction, disappearing into the riots of men.
Turning on my heel, I began to frantically scan the heaving riot in search for Angelo.
Then, I spotted a open space in the middle of the torn battlefield. My eyes zoned in on the two men who seemed metres apart simply standing opposite one another.
My eyes scanned the familiar figure, his dark tousled hair was highlighted by the ongoing flames in the distance. His shoulders still tense and holding intimidation and determination as tattered clothes covered his body.
I gained closer, muffled shouts echoing into the air but still unable to reach my ears.
I reached the point to where I could see both men. My eyes scanned over the dark profile of Bonado who's voice rang out almost gleefully, his eyes sparkling with satisfaction that made my stomach churn. My eyes scanned the position Angelo was in, his body remained rigid as Bonado's sleep sliver gun was aimed right at his head, evident on the clear blow he intended to deliver.
My eyes widened as I saw Bonado cock his gun, a sickening smile gracing his lips as I saw Angelo remain motionless.
"Have anything left to say Angelo? Any last words to remember you by?" He mocked, a low crackle of a laugh erupting from his throat.
My hands fumbled with my gun in my back pocket, my breathing becoming erratic and hands trembling. My hands aimed the gun at Bonado's head in an instant. But my fears of ending someone's life rang through my mind.
I glanced at Angelo, seeing his defiant face, a mask of someone who even in a life or death situation, seemed to be staring down the man with fearlessness striking through his eyes. It made me come to realise why he came for me.
Whether he came out alive or not, he knew that by taking me away I wouldn't have to suffer from the wrath of a war that was between the two men before me, that I wouldn't get hurt. Yet he seemed so content with the consequence of death, it made me angry yet sad that he thought I could live a normal life without him.
But he was wrong. I couldn't live without Angelo, ever.
Taking a deep breathe, my finger pulled the trigger as a low string of words escaped my lips.
"Rot in hell you asshole."
The bullet shot rang clear before Bonado's body went slack and the gun within his grasp fell to the ground with a thud, just as his body did.
My chest heaved as my eyes laid upon the man who intended to not only destroy my life, but also kill the man I loved. No emotion rang out in my mind. No remorse, anger, sadness, just peace, utter peace. The peace of knowing this man would never bother, kill, slaughter, torture or kidnap anyone again.
"Alessa?" A familiar voice called out, my head turned towards it before my eyes was met with two heart-melting orbs.
"Angelo," I breathed out as I took a step towards him, my shoulders sagging in relief as my gun fell from my grasp as I drank in the mostly uninjured Angelo staring at me with a smile curling at his lips.
"You're ok," I breathed. But before I took another step, a sudden flash of anger erupted within Angelo's eyes as he suddenly reached for his gun. But before he could, another gunshot rang through the air as a sudden yell tore itself from Angelo's lips as he charged forwards. My mind hadn't even register more gun shots ring out until a hot white flash of pain registered in my shoulder and pure shock rocked my body, soon after my legs gave out and my body fell the the ground. A scream I didn't register as my own tearing itself from my throat.
My head suddenly spun as a wet warmsubstance began seeping through my clothing and sticking to my skin. My eyes wandered to the round hole now inside right shoulder, my mind trying to figure out why it was there.
My eyes suddenly met the eyes of two hazel ones as her body fell limply to the floor, a weak sickening smile gracing her lips as multiple bullets wounds graved her small body.
My head slowly turned towards the voice that seemed to far away, only to find two blue eyes centimetres from my face. My brows furrowed as my hearing faded in and out and my vision wavered ever few moments.
"Alessa! Stay with me Alesaa!" Angelo's hoarse voice rang out clear in my mind as I finally registered that Angelo was cradling my my small body in his arms, his hand applying painful pressure the the bullet wound on my shoulder.
I let out a meek smile as I watched Angelo brush back my hair continued in to mumble reassuring words into my ear while his hands ripped off a piece of martial off his top and continued to tie it tightly to my bloodied shoulder.
His hands continued to fumble over my shoulder and face as his mouth continued to move rapidly, but my mind wasn't registering his words or sounds no more. Black dots swarmed my vision as the world tilted and turned. Numbness began to swarm my body, leaving me slowly losing any feel left in my body but the searing pain of my wound.
Reaching up with a slow hand, I slowly caressed Angelo's bruised cheek, a wet tear escaping his eye as I brushed it away with my thumb. His large calloused hand grasping my own as he brought it slowly to his lips and his other hand caressed my head.
I looked into his eyes and saw a swarm of emotions raging within- remorse, regret, sorrow and love. His hand felt so hot against my own, the coldness seeping into my bones like a tidal wave.
"I love you," I rasped, my head resting back against his lap as more tears fell from his eyes. My body felt numb, I could barely move, I felt empty inside, nothing was being processed anymore, no more wandering thoughts, no worries.
Angelo's face seemed to contort in anger and pain as his mouth began to mouth rapidly and his head shaking violently. But I couldn't hear him anymore...
My vision wavered again as black dots began to engulf my vision. Angelo's mouth rapidly moving as words escaped his mouth I couldn't hear.
The last thing I ever saw was lights appearing above us as Angelo's face blurred into darkness...
