Chapter 462
Changing only for her (Sophie and Tristan)
On the way back, Sophie began to wonder if her impulsive action had exposed her. I hope I didnât
arouse his suspicion.
Nonetheless, she was relieved that he did not question her.
Upon returning to Wisteria Apartments, Sophie prepared a warm bath for Tristan.
âYou should take a bath too. You must be exhausted since youâve been working the whole day,â the
man said in a deep, sensuous voice.
Sophie nodded.
âOkay,â the young girl responded. Unlike how she had behaved when operating the computer earlier,
she now looked docile and lovely.
Upon seeing the adorable look on her face, Tristan walked over and gave her a gentle hug.
âSophie, youâve worked really hard today! I must say Iâm impressed by your computer skills. Have you
taken part in any hackathons before?â
âNope. I just read a few books about computers because Iâm interested in them!â Sophie replied with an
innocent look. No one would suspect she was lying.
âThatâs right. My dear Sophie is exceptionally brilliant. She could easily take a renowned hacker down
by just reading a couple of books.â
Upon hearing that, Sophie expressed her dismay. âWhat do you mean? Why do I feel like youâre
implying something? I just wanted to help since I noticed you were not feeling well. But if you donât
want me to interfere in Lombard Groupâs matters, Iâll stay out of them.â Itâs not a big deal, anyway!
Tristan immediately grabbed her hand and pulled her into his arms. Oh, no, she misunderstood my
words.
âThatâs not what I meant. I was trying to commend you. What were you thinking? Did I not tell you Iâll
believe you in everything you do?â I still meant what I said.
Sophie, too, realized she had overreacted.
Feeling embarrassed, she said, âMr. Tristan, I only went with you today because I was worried about
you.â
âI know and Iâm touched.â Tristan knew she was worried about him.
For the first time, Tristan realized there was finally someone who sincerely cared about him and did not
expect anything in return.
âGo and take a bath, then!â Sophie was not an unreasonable person. She decided not to harp on the
matter since Tristan had clarified he did not mean anything else.
âAll right.â Tristan went straight to the bathroom without saying anything else.
After he was done bathing, he glanced at the clock and realized it was already half-past eleven. I
wonder if she has fallen asleep.
He went to her room and noticed she was still sitting on the couch. What is she busy with?
When Sophie heard someone open the door, she looked up and gazed at the man. No one, including
Tristan, could resist those mesmerizing, sparkly eyes.
âDidnât I tell you to rest early? Why are you still awake?â Sophie asked, looking slightly upset.
âI canât sleep, so I decided to come and keep you company!â
His answer rendered Sophie speechless for a moment. Oh, well. All right. I donât need someone to
keep me company, but I suppose he doesnât want to be alone. People are at their most vulnerable
when theyâre sick, right?
No one would ever associate Tristan with vulnerability, but it was undeniable that he was under the
weather.
âCome here,â Sophie instructed.
Tristan walked over and lay next to her. Instead of snuggling into the blanket, he just stayed by her
side.
Sophie flipped over the blanket and said, âCome in here. Or else you might feel worse tomorrow!â His
flu will get more serious if he doesnât keep himself warm.
âAre you sure?â
âOf course!â Weâre just sharing a blanket. It doesnât mean weâre doing anything beneath it!
âOkay!â Sharing the same blanket with her got Tristan excited.
âDo you feel better now? If you still have a headache, Iâll go to the pharmacy and buy you some
medicine now!â Sophie said. Itâll be disastrous if he develops a fever in the middle of the night.
Tristan shook his head while allowing her to lean on his shoulder. âDonât worry about me. I donât feel
uncomfortable at all.â
âReally?â Sophie was still worried about him. After placing her palm on his forehead and realizing he
did not have a fever, she heaved a sigh of relief.
âYou must tell me when you fall ill again,â Sophie reminded him. Mr. Tristan may be a powerful man, but
heâll still feel miserable when he falls sick, right?
âAll right.â Tristan sounded as meek as a lamb.
His unusual response nearly drove Sophie mad. How I wish I could pamper him like a little boy! Heâll
probably throw a fit if he finds out whatâs running through my mind.
Seeing that Sophie had zoned out for a while, Tristan knitted his brows. âAm I disturbing you?â
âNope.â Sophie felt a tad uncomfortable lying beside a mature man and sharing a blanket with him.
They lay so close to each other that she could smell the faint scent of the body shampoo lingering on
the manâs body.
Under such circumstances, anyoneâs imagination would just run wild no matter how innocent he or she
was.
âAll right. Shut your eyes. I canât do anything to you anyway, so donât worry,â Tristan promised.
All of a sudden, Sophie chuckled. âMr. Tristan, you donât have to emphasize that over and over again.â
You canât? Thatâs quite an ambiguous statement. You know that, right?
It took Tristan a while to understand what she was implying.
âAnyway, Mr. Tristan, can I ask you something?â Sophie wished to talk to him instead of sleeping.
âSure,â he replied. He could never reject her.
âRumors had it that you have never dated anyone. Is that true? Am I your first love?â Sophie was eager
to know.
Never in a million years did Tristan expect her to ask him this question.
He instantly fell silent.
âWhatâs wrong? Do you have trouble answering my question? Itâs fine if you donât feel like answering it.
Itâs just something casual that pops up in my mind.â Sophie did not want to make him feel awkward.
Tristan responded with a deep grunt.
âWhat is that response supposed to mean?â Sophie looked puzzled.
âIt means youâre my first love. Youâre the first girl I fell in love with. Youâre the only girl I love!â Tristan
said. I hope I made myself clear!
Sophie ran out of words to say for a moment.
Although she was the one who had asked that question, she was not prepared to hear that.
Nonetheless, Tristanâs answer did touch her heart.
âWhatâs wrong? Are you stunned? I thought you wanted an answer to that question. Are you giving me
this look because you donât trust my words?â Tristan questioned her.
âOf course not. I trust you and everything you say,â Sophie replied. Thereâs no reason for him to lie to
me.
She was surprised that a capable elite like Tristan had never dated any women. Hundreds and
thousands of women must have fallen for him, yet he has never been in a relationship. Thatâs quite
unusual for someone who lives in a world where being ostentatious and glamorous are the ways of life.
âI didnât expect you to be this pure and innocent, Mr. Tristan.â Sophie chuckled. Clearly, she was in a
good mood.
Words caught in Tristanâs throat when he heard that remark.
âThis is not about me being pure and innocent. I didnât want to let my feelings get the best of me, thatâs
all. Before I met you, I thought I would never fall in love with anyone. I thought I would marry someone
at an appropriate age to build a family and miss all the sparkles in life!â Tristan said with a sincere look
on his face.
