Chapter 454
Changing only for her (Sophie and Tristan)
Clayton walked up to Willow and grabbed her hair.
âEverything you said is true, but so what? Do you think Sophie will come to save you? Donât forget that
youâre enemies with her,â he enunciated.
Willow was overwhelmed by despair upon hearing his words.
Since the man was yanking on her hair, she was forced to tilt her head back.
Tears streamed down her face.
She bit her lip hard, loathing the fact that Sophie was her sister.
If it werenât for her, I wouldnât be experiencing everything Iâm going through today. All this is her fault!
âChange her clothes and take her away!â Clayton ordered his subordinates, releasing his grip on her
hair.
âPlease wait for a moment, sir!â
Claytonâs assistant and bodyguards were all males, but no one was bothered about such a thing right
then.
They stepped forward and stripped Willowâs pajamas off before donning a dress on her.
At first, Willow put up a fight, but she gradually stopped resisting, for she knew that the more she
struggled, the more she would suffer.
After all, Clayton hadnât the slightest regard for her.
When Willow had finished changing, Clayton strolled over to Charmaine.
âGive me the household registry.â
Charmaine trembled violently, yet she was fully aware that she couldnât possibly hand the household
registry over to him.
If Willow were to really marry him today, her life would be over.
Upon receiving no response from her even after a long time had passed, Clayton grew disgruntled.
âDonât make me repeat myselfâgive me the household registry. Iâm going to register my marriage with
Willow now, so donât waste my time.â
Willow pinned her eyes on Charmaine.
âMomâ¦â
In response, Charmaine shook her head.
âThis is against the law, Clayton. Youâre forcing someone into marriage.â
âWhatâs the big deal about that? Iâve even killed someone.â
Charmaine fell silent, not daring to argue further.
How could I allow my daughter to marry a murderer?
âNo way. Iâm never giving you the household registry even if it means my death.â
Hearing that, Clayton took a deep breath.
âI wanted to be kind, but since you wouldnât give me that opportunity, Iâm left with no other choice. Make
her hand over the household registry.â
He didnât want to waste any more time.
Meanwhile, Charmaine kept backing away.
Alas, they would never let her off the hook.
At that precise moment, the police arrived. By then, they had already surrounded the Tanner residence.
âThis is bad. The police are here. What should we do?â Wilbur inquired nervously after spotting the
police officers outside.
Relief suffused Charmaine when she heard that the police had arrived.
âD*mn it!â Clayton never expected the police to arrive so quickly.
âYou should leave quickly, Clayton. Youâll be doomed if you get caught by the police.â
He has got tons of money, so if he leaves now, he can still flee abroad and live a lavish life. But if he
gets arrested by the police, itâll be the end for him.
Seizing Willow, Clayton sneered, âDo you think I can still get away now? Hadnât I told you this? Even if I
were to die, Iâd drag you down to hell with me. Sophie caused me to end up in such a pathetic state. Do
you think Iâd spare her family?â
âYou know full well that she has never regarded me as her family. If she really regards me as her family,
would you have ended up in such a situation today?â Willow found the situation hilarious. Heâs such a
smart person, so why is he still ignorant to this moment?
âIs that so? Then, let me conduct a test and see exactly how cold-blooded she is.â
I shall see whether sheâll turn a blind eye to her family!
âListen up! We have already surrounded this place. Drop your weapons.â
Charmaine had never seen such a scene, so she was scared out of her wits.
âWhat are you doing, Clayton? Let Willow go! Youâre breaking the law!â Glimpsing Claytonâs maniacal
expression, Charmaine was truly worried that he would hurt Willow.
âWhat should we do now?â Wilbur hadnât expected things to end up in such a manner either. Oh God,
this is just too terrifying!
âHow would I know?â
Why did the police come? Sophie must have handed the evidence to them. Otherwise, why would they
come here to arrest me at this time?
âHow about we go out and explain things to the police? Weâll tell them that everything was an accident.â
We canât really murder someone, can we?
âDo you think theyâll believe me? All right, stop prattling. Seize them both.â
From the look of things now, Iâve got no choice but to leave Jipsdale.
âListen up! Youâve already been surrounded. Release the hostages at once!â Downstairs, the police
were still shouting.
To Clayton, however, that was no different from a death sentence.
âGo over and close the door!â
The police had no idea about the situation upstairs, so they asked the housekeeper downstairs.
âOfficer, Mrs. Tanner and Ms. Tanner are still upstairs. Are they in any danger?â
After the police learned which room the suspect and hostages were in, they plunged into a dilemma.
Ultimately, they were in the dark about the situation in the room. Thus, they were worried about hurting
the hostages if they were to barge in recklessly.
Just then, Yale came home. When he knew what had happened, his face drained of all color.
âIs there some misunderstanding here, officer? Clayton is my soon-to-be son-in-law. Thereâs absolutely
no need for him to kidnap his own fiancée and mother-in-law, no?â
Even then, he still couldnât believe the truth that was right in front of his eyes.
âYour soon-to-be son-in-law is a murderer, yet you find him satisfactory!â the police officer scoffed.
Does he think he can do whatever he pleases just because he has money? Dream on! As long as
someone has violated the law, weâll bring him to justice no matter how long it takes!
âWhat?â
Yale was entirely floored.
He then stammered, âThen, what should we do now?â
âWeâll send someone to negotiate with the suspect.â The most important thing now is to save the
hostages, then apprehend the suspect.
Yale was exceedingly worried that things would go awry. Besides, he was a rather cowardly person.
Hence, he phoned Sophie.
âSomething bad has happened at home, Sophie! Hurry up and come back!â
At that moment, the only person in the family he could rely on seemed to be Sophie alone.
After hanging up the phone, Sophie got to her feet. Seeing that, Mark queried in concern, âWhatâs
wrong? Did something happen? Iâll go with you!â
âNo, itâs okay. Just continue rehearsing. Iâve got to make a trip home.â
Considering the matter in question, he wonât be able to help anyway. Furthermore, there might even be
unnecessary complications because heâs highly popular right now.
âI want to go with you, Sophie!â
No matter what it is, I want to face it with her.
âThereâs just a bit of a problem at home, Mark. Itâs really inappropriate for you to tag along. That aside,
there might even be reporters there right now.â
Truly, it isnât appropriate for him to go with me.
âAll right, then.â
Subsequently, Sophie drove Sunnyâs car back to the Tanner residence.
When Yale caught sight of Sophie, he felt as though he had seen his savior.
