10. Car

As the first day of school is finally over, Neil, Sam and I make our way outside, to the parking lot to get my bike.

"Guys I have a car.." Sam says

"You do??" Thanks god" Neil says and I punch him

"Hey my bike and your skate are good enough" I pout. We've always gone to school this way.

"It's time to upgrade" he rolls his eyes and we follow Sam

Once we get to his car,, a black Porsche, Neil and eye both look at Sam with wide eyes

"Is it actually yours" Neil asks

"Yeah" Sam chuckles "It's my baby" He says and opens the doors "hop in"

I put my bike and Neil's skate in his trunk and hop in. We get into his car, me next to Sam in front and Neil in the back, we make our way out of school. As we take a turn down the street, we notice hundreds of people blocking the road

"What the hell" Sam exclaims

"The biggest elementary school in Phoenix is here" I tell him. I don't know why they decided to build a high school and an elementary school on the same street.

He tries going in between some vehicules in vain.

Suddenly, a big car comes right to us from our right and Sam doesn't have the time to see it before it crashes into us.

"WHAT THE HELL ASSHOLE" Sam yells angrily and gets out of the car to argue with the driver.

I watch the scene, hoping that we don't cause drama but dozens of people are already turning around. It wasn't our fault but since we're teenagers we will most likely get blamed for it.

I watch Sam and the other guy that gets out of the car.. wait

Harvey.

"Oh fuck" I say

"What?" Neil asks, taken back from the scene

"It's Eve's husband" I say anxiously

"Oh no" Neil says

I have to get out of the car and stop them.. I take a deep breath and get out, Harvey meeting my gaze while Sam is yelling at him

"Sam" I say but he doesn't listen to me.

"SAM" I shout and this time he stops yelling at Harvey that looks unbothered

"Careful who you hang out with Alex. That little man is arrogant. I'll pay for your reparations kid, take my card. Although you should learn how to drive. My kids are in the car" Harvey says calmly but heavily while Sam calms down at the mention of the reparations but starts getting red again when Harvey corrects his driving skills.

"Thanks Mr. Spencer. Sorry." I say embarrassed and take Sam's arm, hoping he didn't insult him too much.

"How do you know that asshole" Sam asks me

"He's my neighbour" I say while we make our way back to his car and finally block out the huge line of cars behind us.

Sam makes an 'O' face and furrows his eyebrows to show how angry he is as we get back in the car. When I am ready to step out I hear a little voice call my name

"Alex!!!!!" Cami shouts my name and I smile at her

"Hi Cami!!" I shout back

"Come have dinner with us please!!!" She says and I get embarrassed

"If your mom and dad agree I'll be here!!" I shout and get in the car. This is awkward. I'm pretty sure Harvey hates me even more than he already did and Eve probably does too.

"Drive" I tell Sam

We drive quietly before Neil speaks out

"Soo... wonder where his wife's at" He says and I mentally punch him

"Who's the wife" Sam asks, not in the loop

"Alex's favorite milf" Neil says chuckling

"Shut up" I tell him, actually annoyed. I shouldn't have told him because he's just disrespecting Eve now.

Eve's POV

"So how was your first day of high school honey" I ask my eldest daughter as I pick her up from her school. Harvey and I agreed on picking up Journey and Camille while I take Cindy in the other car, since she finishes a little later than them and I had a job interview earlier.

"It was okay" She says, but I find a lack of assurance in her voice

"Are you sure? You can tell me?" I ask softly, hoping she isn't keeping anything from me

"It's very different from middle school.. but don't worry mom it went fine. I did make a friend. Olivia. She's nice." Cindy says and I instantly relax. I'm glad she's found a new friend.

"Oh that's great sweetheart!! Told you it would go smoothly" I say while driving to our place

"Yeah! And I saw Alex today but she was with seniors so I didn't want to say hi" She confesses

"Aw why not?" I ask although I gulp at the mention of our neighbour's name

"Mom it's embarrassing they're so much older than me. But I really want to go to this record store but she hasn't said hi to us recently.." She says and I take a deep breath, knowing I have to do with this.

"I'm sure she'll come around" I reply and hope she will change the subject. Fortunately she does and turns on the radio while looking out the window.

I can't help but think about Alex sometimes and honestly, the brunette makes me feel.. freaked out. Her advances shouldn't have phased me the way they did it and I hate admitting that they didn't bother me the slightest.

I have felt familiar with her since the moment we first met and the couple moments that we had all felt so close and magical.

My thought process makes me uncomfortable as I come back to reality and brush away the thought of the 18 year old.

As we get home, I feel content at the sight of Harvey working in the living room while Camille and Jour are watching a cartoon.

"Hi my babies" I smile and open my arms to hug them. They run to me and I kneel down

"How are my first graders doing" I ask them, feeling so fulfilled seeing their backpacks in the entry of the house and their cute school outfits that I picked out

"I have so much to tell you!!!!" Cami says excitedly

"You'll tell me & daddy everything at dinner baby. How about you Jour did you like your first day" I say while rubbing his back

"It was nice" He smiles "I didn't like the writing part tho.. the teacher kept correcting me it was annoying" he says and I laugh "I'm sure you did good" I say to him

They soon go back to playing in the backyard this time while Cindy is long gone in her room. I wonder what Alex is doing.

I mentally slap myself at that thought and make my way towards my husband.

"Hi you" I say, looking him up and down while he is sitting on the couch in his suit and laptop on his lap

"Hi" He looks up at me, and I see him checking me out

"How was your day" I come behind him, rubbing his neck and shoulders, feeling him tense up

"Was nice." He says and puts his laptop besides him and mentions me to sit on his lap "Come here" He says

I do as he asks and put my arms around his neck. I bend down to kiss him, and he kisses me back. I try feeling that spark we used to have, anything for that matter, but know that it's long gone. However I really, really need sex.. it has been so long and I have my needs. I slowly start grinding on him

"Not now Eve" He says and I sigh but agree. Tonight is better

"You know who I bumped into with the car today? Alex and her boyfriend. Stupid children are always driving recklessly" He says, making fun of them

"Her boyfriend? Neil?" I ask, then mentally slap myself for thinking of this first instead of the fact that my husband caused a car accident "Did someone get hurt?" I ask

"Eh, I don't know his name there were two boys and her. And no the kid had a Porsche and just got angry at me although it's a slight scratch." He laughs it off

"You should pay for it Harv" I tell him, feeling sorry for them and embarrassed

"Don't worry" He tells me "Can I get back to work?" He says in a way to tell me to get off his lap. I sigh and get away from him.

I decide to take the trash out, just to clean up and get away from Harvey. As I get out of the house, I see a big Porsche parked in front of Alex's house, probably the one Harvey bumped into. I thought they had gone inside but I see Alex and Neil getting out of the car, as well as another boy who's name I don't know.

Neil's gaze meets mine and he smiles maliciously. I am immediately taken back. Did Alex tell him about her advances towards me? Did she tell him lies? Were they making fun of me?

"Hello Mrs. Spencer" He says while coming closer to me as I collect myself. I can't believe I am stressing over what teenagers think of me.

"Hi Neil" I say kindly

Suddenly I see Alex and the other boy get out of the car as well, Alex having a worried look in her eyes.

"How are you today" He says

"Good thank you, how about you?" I ask him as Alex makes her way towards us. I meet her eyes and see nothing but shyness and nervousness, which slightly makes me chuckle and makes me feel in charge. She's adorable

"Very good. Your dear husband broke my friends car today" Neil says jokingly but showing that he hasn't forgiven Harvey

"Sorry about that, he'll pay any reparations" I cringe

"Neil it's fine" Alex slaps his arm slightly

"Oh it's fine Alex she knows you're not mad" Neil says and Alex's cheeks turn bright red. A sly smirk appears on my face

The third boy comes towards us

"That's Sam" Neil says and I smile at the boy.

Sam waves at me awkwardly and Alex coughs

"Okay, um, I'll see you around" Alex tells me, trying to get them away from me. I sigh knowing why she's acting like this.

"You could come over for dinner if you want. I'm sure the kids will be happy to see you" I suggest, hoping she accepts the offer

Her eyes show surprise and excitement, which she quickly shrugs off. I smile slightly while seeing her struggle.

"I- sure. Um I'll come around 7?8?" She asks nervously and Neil turns around but I see him trying not to laugh

She shoots him a glare, thinking she's so discreet

"8 is fine" I smile at her and go back to the door

"Okay" she says and her eyes seem to be searching deeply into mine

"Okay" I say and wave them by while closing the door to my house

I let out a deep breath once I'm on the other side.
