Chapter 17
Fake Vow True Luna
#Chapter 17: Police Confession
I didnât see Nathan at home for two days.
He spent most of his waking hours busy with Alpha tasks, and when he was home,
he was sleeping in his bedroom. It seemed that he wasnât planning on taking back.
what he said about my dad, and I wasnât going to get any help with my investigation.
I didnât want to bother making a scene anymore. Nathan already achieved his goal.
of using me to ruin his wedding. All that was left now for him to deal with was his
fatherâs anger, but it clearly didnât matter to Nathan because his fatherâs anger would
only be directed at me anyway.
But I wouldnât give up the villa that my aunt left me. It was the one thing that I had
left to me by my loved ones, and I was going to fight to keep it in my name.
I hated to say it, but I didnât trust Nathan to do the right thing. What if he found
someone else down the road and decided to fight me over the villa again, claiming
his purchase of it as having more of a legal standing over my aunt leaving me the
deed?
The only way to protect myself and my home was to assert my own rights through
legal means, and so I decided that it was better to file a police report about whoever
sold the villa to Nathan rather than negotiating privately with him.
And so, on one early morning, I was standing in front of the police officer with my
deed to the house in my hand and a plan to explain everything to the officer. Before I
could give the officer my report, however, his eyes widened slightly as he looked up
at me.
âAre you Ga mma Kamranâs daughter?â he asked.
I nodded slowly. âYes,â I replied hesitantly, hoping that it wouldnât hurt my chances of getting the situation sorted out. What if everyone in town, like Nathan, thought
that my dad was an evil traitor?
The officerâs eyes lit up. Instantly, I felt a little relieved by his reaction but also
confused.

âI knew it was you, little Olivia!â he exclaimed. âHow is your dad now? I know you probably donât remember me, but your dad and I were colleagues when you were a baby. I used to hold you in my arms.â
I must have looked puzzled, because the officer chuckled. I had never seen this man before in my life, or so I thought.
âNevermind,â he said. âYou were too little to remember me. Is your dad doing well, though? Send him my regards.â
âMy.. My dad died,â I replied quietly. Did no one in this town really have any ideal that my dad died?
The officer gave me a sad look, and his face fell. âOh⦠Iâm so sorry.â
âItâs alright.â I felt a bit uncomfortable and shifted in my spot for a moment, but then something hit me; I recognized that officerâs voice. âWait⦠Are you the man. who called me when my eviction order was lifted?â
The officer grinned, the darkness and grief in his face lifting. âIndeed I am,â he said.
As I looked down at the officer, I couldnât help but feel a bit sheepish. I chewed my l*p for a moment; just judging from my first interaction with this officer, he had an almost careless appearance about him. He seemed like the type to be excitable.
Maybe that was why he told me over the phone that I was invited to Nathanâs
wedding, even when I wasnât.
âYou know⦠I wasnât officially invited to that wedding,â I finally admitted. âYou sort of made it out like I was.â
Once again, the officer looked shocked. âReally?â he asked, sounding a bit
disbelieving. âI thought that you and Nathan were very close. And I heard that youâre actually fated matesâ¦â
I didnât have the courage to correct the officer, but it didnât seem to matter becau he kept talking.
ââ¦And besides, heâs been coming here almost every month for the past ten years to look at your dadâs files. He doesnât have access, but heâs never given up trying. Itâs

become almost like a ritual at this poin
point.â
As the officer spoke, I felt completely taken aback. âReally?â I almost whispered. â
Heâs been doing that?â
The officer nodded. âYep. He sure has. Anyway, Iâm sorry that I caused confusion
over the wedding. I guess I just assumed that you two were close enough that heâd
want you at the wedding. And I suppose thatâs not completely wrong, right? What
with your relationship and all.â
âUm⦠Yeah,â I lied, forcing a weak smile. âI guess it was just a shock because he
didnât expect me to be there at the wedding, but⦠It doesnât matter now.â
On the outside, I was smiling and acting polite. However, on the inside I just felt
dazed. Why didnât Nathan ever mention anything about my dadâs files to me? He
only made it out as though he never cared to look into itâ¦
âHere.â The officer reached into his desk and pulled a small bag out, then handed it
to me. âItâs homemade black tea. A little gift for you and Nathan⦠Heâs been coming in a lot and working hard to help me track down that treasurer that illegally sold.
him that house. Iâm sure heâs exhausted.â
My hands shook slightly as I took the tea. Once again, I felt even more baffled.
âHeâs really been doing that?â I asked.
The officer nodded. âYeah. Heâs really concerned that the treasurer knowingly sold
him a house that already had an owner and then disappeared with the money. I figured you would know this, since you two are fated mates. Do you not talk about
these sorts of things?â
I didnât know what to say, so I simply smiled and made up an excuse to leave.
No wonder I didnât see Nathan all that time; he was too busy trying to track down
that treasurer for me.
I arrived back at home a little while later, feeling tired and dazed after what the
officer had told me.

As I walked up the path, however, I saw what looked like Nathan sitting on the porch; only he was leaning against the railing, and as I came closer, I saw that he was sleeping in the middle of the afternoon.
I stifled a chuckle as I walked up to him. There was something irresistibly cute about the way that he was sleeping there, as though he was so tired that he couldnât even make it inside.
I decided to wake him up, but as I stopped in front of him I just couldnât bring myself to disturb his slumber. Seeing him like this instantly made me go soft after being mad at him for two days.
With a sigh, I set the bag of tea down and sat on the step next to him. I watched him for a few moments, taking in his handsome and innocent appearance as he slept in. the warm ray of sunshine. His d*rty blonde hair was rustling in the breeze, and he was even snoring softly..
Unintentionally, I leaned a little closer to get a better look. His eyelashes were so long that it only added to his cute appearance.
But then, suddenly, Nathan opened his eyes. Both of us jolted a little when he saw me, and I quickly leaned back, but not before he noticed how close I was.
âOlivia?â he asked. âWhat are you doing?â
