Chapter Twenty
The Sweet Escape
Chapter Twenty
While driving to her classes, Skylar was feeling really confused. Even Nickelback couldn't distract her from her thoughts. She was confused because she was hurt, mad, and sad. But she really wanted to be with Ian at the moment, kissing him. But then she really didn't want to see him for a while. But she did want to see him. Then again, she was still hurt...
"F.uck!" she exclaimed, groaning. Why was it so hard to just forget about it?
To be honest, she was thinking a lot about Christina. She was so beautiful and seemed like a nice person. But she was also aware that Ian wanted nothing to do with her. He wanted to be with Skylar. He'd made that pretty damn obvious! Still...
When she got to her first class, Micah gave her a wink that made her want to vomit.
"Hello, there," he said, sitting down next to her. "How is your morning so far, Skylar?"
Rolling her eyes, she said, "It's great."
"Is that so?" He cocked his head to the side. "You don't look too happy. Having problems with Ian?"
Micah annoyed her way too much. Did he even realize that if she really wanted to, she could have him fired. The only reason he was still at the firm was because she'd convince Ian not to let him go. So why was he still acting like such a cocky as.shole?
"I don't think that is any of your business," she snapped.
"I'll take that as a yes."
"Can you get away from me?"
"But I like talking to you?"
"But your presence bothers me," she replied sweetly.
Maybe he realized that she really was having a bad day and decided not to make it worse. Maybe he was just too tired to argue with her. Nonetheless, he did move away, but gave her a light pat on the back before doing so.
Skylar groaned.
It was during her lunch break that she felt a little better. She met up with Jason to get lunch. Sarah tagged along. It felt good to just be with friends. She missed Kyle, really, but he was in Chicago. At least she'd be seeing him soon.
"You do not look too happy," Jason pointed out as their food arrived.
Skylar smiled. "What makes you think that?" She had been putting on a nice smile for them, and she was actually enjoying herself.
"Psychology masters, remember?" he said. "I've gotten really good at reading people."
"What's wrong?" Sarah asked, finally speaking. She seemed to be quite shy around Jason.
Well, she had to tell someone. It wasn't really good for her to keep her feelings locked inside. The only person she could really talk to was Ian, and, well, she couldn't really do that at the moment considering he was the reason.
"Ian and I, well, I don't know if it was a fight," she began. "It's just that we had a misunderstanding."
"What happened?" Jason asked.
"Uh, his daughter's mom came back," she explained. "He didn't really take it well. I was trying to help him, and convince him that she has a right to see Emily, she is after all her mom. He basically said that I have no idea what I'm talking about because I'm not a parent. I don't know. I guess I was hurt by his words. I just left. Whatever. I guess we'll have to talk about it later today."
"Well, that's normal," Sarah said. "Couples fight. Plus, it wasn't that big of a fight. You two will get over it."
"Probably have some hot make-up s.ex," Jason added.
Skylar laughed. She was happy to see that things weren't awkward with Jason. He was even making jokes. Well, he did have a girlfriend now. He was such a good guy.
Sarah didn't laugh, though. She seemed to be pretty uncomfortable. Right. Skylar had almost forgotten; Sarah was a pretty serious person.
Apparently she wasn't the only once to nice because Jason said, "Oh, I'm sorry, Sarah. If you're uncomfortable with s.ex talk, I'll stop."
She gave him a shy smile and nodded. "It's fine."
But would they, though? Have hot make-up s.ex later? The thought of that brightened her up. Yeah, she was a little hurt, but that didn't take away the fact that she loved Ian, and she loved being intimate with him. He was good at pleasing her, and apparently she was good at pleasing him.
Jason chuckled. "You're thinking about it."
She blushed. "Well, you brought it up!"
Sarah groaned.
"Sorry!" Skylar and Jason said in unison.
At work Ian was in a mood. Peter had had the pleasure of facing his wrath in the early morning, luckily he warned everyone else to avoid him. He was trying to brighten his mood up, after all he did have clients to meet with. Well, he'd seemed to have scared one or two of them away.
Ian was really stressed. During his lunch break, he would be picking up Emily to finally reunite her with her mother. Yeah, he still wasn't too happy about that. Then there was Skylar. She had not answered his morning calls. Understandable, though. He really had been a d.ick the night before. He just really hated the distance between them.
He left the firm to go to Emily's school. She was excited, that much he knew. How could he deny giving his daughter the chance to meet her mother? No matter how much he disliked Christina, it would never overpower his love for Emily. Her happiness was his happiness no matter what he had to do.
Emily had the biggest smile on her face when he settled her into the car.
"I'm gonna see Mommy!" she mused. "My mommy, Daddy!"
"Yes, princess, you're going to go see your mommy," he said, putting on the happiest façade he could for her. He didn't want to ruin the day for her.
"Do I look pretty, daddy?" the little girl asked from the backseat. "I don't want my mommy to think I'm ugly and leave me."
"Sweetie, you're beautiful," he promised her. Plus, if she left, it wasn't like it would be Emily's fault. Just more of Christina's selfishness.
"Is Mommy pretty?" Emily asked innocently. "She is, right? She probably looks like a princess."
They would be meeting Christina at an ice cream shop because he knew Emily would be happy there. Surprisingly, Christina had agreed even though ice cream was not allowed in her strict dieting.
"Anything for my daughter," she'd said over the phone.
Yeah, right.
Ian held Emily as he pushed the door open, taking a deep breath. Well, the inevitable was bound to happen.
There she was, sitting at one of the tables. She only looked at him briefly before her eyes traveled to the child he held in his arms. Quickly, she stood up and approached him.
"Oh, but she's beautiful!" Christina mused, taking Emily from him.
The look of adoration Emily gave to Christina broke his heart. It wasn't until that moment that he realized just how much his daughter needed a mother. Apparently he couldn't take over both roles.
"You're my mommy?" Emily asked.
"Yes, sweetie, I'm your mommy," Christina cooed, giving Emily multiple kisses. "Oh, this is so much better than I thought it would be. I'm sorry I've been away for so long, baby." Then tears started streaming down her eyes. Actual tears from Christina. "I'm so sorry."
Ian went to go Emily her ice cream, leaving her to Christina. She hadn't been lying about wanting to see Emily. No one could pull off such an act. She cried and kissed her, repeatedly apologized. And that look she gave Emily. That was love. There was no denying that Christina did care after all.
"Here's your ice cream, princess," he said, handing Emily the cone.
"Thanks, daddy," she replied, happily digging into the chocolate and vanilla cone.
"Thank you so much for bringing her," Christina said. "I honestly thought you might never let me see her."
He shrugged. "I can't keep her away from you. You're her mother."
Christina offered him a smile. "She's so beautiful and sweet. Oh, Ian, you've been such a great father. You raised her better than I could have myself."
"Well, I did the best I could."
She sniffled and wiped her eyes. "I want to be more involved in her life. I'm a s.hitty mother, Ian. I'm a s.hitty person. I've made several mistakes. I'm back, though. And I've changed. All for this little angel."
Ian sighed. "Are you sure that you're committed to this?"
"Of course," she promised. "I have nothing to show for. I've made nothing out of my life. My liver is most likely destroyed. I've probably killed several of my brain cells. I almost died, Ian. I've disappointed so many people. But maybe I can get one thing right, and that's being a good mother even if I am four years too late."
She was being honest. Ian couldn't deny that. Wow. She really had changed. That was...unexpected.
"Are you going to stay with me, mommy?" Emily asked.
"Of course, sweetie," Christina promised.
"Does this mean that you and Daddy are going to get married and give me a little brother or sister?"
What? Where was she getting those ideas from?
"Uh." Christina didn't really seem to know what to say.
"We can be a real family now!"
"Sweetie, I can't marry your daddy," Christina explained. "He has Skylar."
Emily frowned. "But Skylar is not my mom."
"But she is your dad's girlfriend."
"But I don't want her to be my mommy," Emily complained.
"She'll be your step-mommy if she marries your daddy."
Great. Now Emily was going to look at Skylar as a threat to her happiness. Ian was not prepared for that. He didn't want his daughter to think badly of the woman he loved. Especially not because Christina was now in the picture.
"But I don't want her to marry Daddy!" Now she seemed mad.
"Sweetie," Ian began. "Calm down. We can talk about this later. But your mom will be living somewhere else. You can go stay with her sometimes. But she's right, I do have Skylar now."
"I thought she was just your friend." A lone tear rolled down her cheek. "I thought that you and Mommy would live together and be happy. But Skylar is not letting you. I don't like her!"
"It's not Skylar's fault, sweetie," Christina said, taking Emily into her arms. "Sometimes moms and dads can't be together. That's jus the way the world works. And Skylar is such a nice person, or would you rather have some mean, old witch be with your dad?"
Emily shook her head. "I just want you to be with my daddy! You're my mommy not Skylar!"
Ian didn't like those words. Not one bit. He wanted Emily to get used to Skylar, he'd though they were doing well. Emily seemed to like Skylar so much. Why was she acting like that now? How would he be able to convince her that her parents not being together was the best for all of them? How would he make her understand that he loved Skylar?
Skylar felt her heart beating faster and faster as she approached Ian's office door. Okay. Time to face him. Time to talk about the other night. Time to make up. She couldn't last an entire day not speaking to him. He'd hurt her, alright. But he'd been stressed out of his mind. It was understandable.
He immediately met her eyes as she stepped in, a small smile forming on his lips.
"Hi," she said.
"Hi," he said back, closing his laptop.
"Did you take Emily to Christina?" she asked. She knew that he wouldn't keep Emily away from her mother. He was too good to do that.
"Yes," he replied. "Right now she's with her, back at her hotel suite."
"Oh." Skylar smiled. "That's great. I'm sure Emily was very happy to meet her."
"Ecstatic," he responded, grinning.
She nodded and headed to her seat, pulling out her laptop from the bag she carried it in. Time to work.
Ian sighed. "Skylar, I'm sorry about last night."
She shook her head. "You don't need to apologize, Ian. I understand why you said that. And you're right, I don't know what you're going through. I don't really understand...but I just want to be there for you."
"Come here," he breathed out.
She did, getting on his lap and wrapping her arms around him.
"I love you," he said. "So, so much."
"I love you," she said. "Even when you're a d.ick."
He laughed. "Sorry for being a d.ick."
Ian pulled her face to his and captured her lips. Yes. That was how they were supposed to be. Skylar felt perfectly fine in his arms, kissing him. Of course she couldn't stay mad at him for long.
"Ian," she breathed out as he lightly sucked on her neck. He knew exactly where her weak spot was.
Skylar was starting to realize that she had no shame around him anymore. She loved the way he made her feel and she made it quite obvious. She started to grind against him, creating friction to soothe the ache between her legs. Ian didn't mind, in fact he encouraged it, thrusting against her.
"Do you want me to make you c.um?" he whispered against her ear.
Eagerly, she nodded. "But not here. What if someone hears us?"
"No one is going to hear us," he assured her.
Skylar was the type of person that worried too much. Of course she didn't like the idea of someone hearing them getting it on. She was loud. She knew she was loud. Ian knew she was loud because he liked to tease her about it. Nope. No risking it.
"I'm loud, you said so yourself," she reminded him.
"We'll keep it quiet." He winked.
Skylar shook her head. "I don't want to risk it. Everyone already hates me enough."
Ian had to agree. The last thing he wanted was for everyone to start talking about his sex life in the firm. Plus, he also didn't like the idea of anyone else hearing her in the brink of ecstasy besides him.
"Well, you know Emily is spending the night with Christina," he said slowly. "We have nothing to worry about after work."
They didn't waste any time as they entered Skylar's apartment. Ian quickly started taking off his shirt as Skylar let the dress she was wearing fall to the floor. They were both half naked when Ian pressed her up against the wall and kissed her roughly.
"Now you can be as loud as you want," Ian reminded her, giving her a slap on the butt.
She giggled. "Only for you."
Ian carried Skylar to the bedroom and dumped her on the bed, pausing to admire her body clad in lace panties and bra. She looked like a goddess sprawled out on the bed like that.
Skylar was getting impatient. She liked the fact that Ian enjoyed looking at her, but a certain part of her was getting anxious, and it wasn't getting any better as her eyes ran over his sinful body.
"Ian," she whined. "Come here."
"Don't be impatient, my love," he said, but got on the bed nonetheless.
Ian was into the foreplay that day, the thing was, Skylar kind of wasn't in the mood for foreplay. She wanted him. Bad. So she sat up to quickly unclasp her bra and threw it on the floor. It felt liberating to no longer have that human torture device on.
When Ian's lips were finally on her skin again, she sighed with relief. Skylar relaxed back and let Ian perform his ministrations. She was in pure bliss as Ian made a trail of kisses down her neck and onto the valley between her breasts. He wasn't even inside of her yet, and she was already moaning uncontrollably.
When his tongue met her slick desire, she thought she would combust right then and there. The intensity of the pleasure he was giving her was almost unbearable.
"Yes!" she creamed. "Oh, Ian, yes!"
A low, humming sound came from the back of Ian's throat, sending vibrations through her. And when he started inserting fingers, well, then it really was too much.
"Ian!" she exclaimed as her release took over her.
He didn't waste another second and quickly filled her up with his own desire, her walls taking him in completely.
"Yes, bella!" he growled in between thrusts.
Skylar thought that she was about to pass out. The heat radiating off his body made her feel even hotter, but it felt good. Really good. Her hands traveled to his butt and she squeezed causing Ian to groan. His thrusts became faster and rougher, and oh, boy, she loved every single second of it.
When they were both exhausted from their rough love-making, they just lay there. That had been intense.
It was then that Skylar let out a small laugh.
"What is it?" Ian asked, curious.
"Jason said that you and I would end up having hot make-up s.ex," she said, a smile on her lips.
Ian chuckled. "I don't know how I feel about you and him discussing s.ex," he said. "But I have to admit the boy was right." And then he placed a kiss on her forehead.
Skylar sighed and snuggled closer to him. "You never told me how the meeting with Christina went."
That brought a frown to his face. "It went well," he said. "I just don't like some of the things Emily said."
"What did she say?" Skylar asked.
Ian knew that he shouldn't keep things from her, even if it did mean telling her that his daughter didn't like the idea of them two being together.
"Emily wants me and Christina to get together," he explained.
Oh.
"Oh, really?" Well, Skylar didn't know how to feel about that. But then again, it was normal for a child Emily's age to want her parents together.
He gulped. "And she said that she doesn't want you to be with me anymore. That you're not her mom."
Well, then.
"Oh." She didn't know what to say.
Ian pulled her face to his and kissed her lips. "She doesn't mean it, Skylar. She just met her mother and has all these idea in her head. Emily will come around. She really likes you, you know that."
Skylar tried to smile. "Yeah. And I adore her."
"I love you," he said. "No one can change that. She's just really excited about her mom, but she'll realize that Christina and I can't be together. You have nothing to worry about."
