I remember vividly

we were young

I, 16 and you, 14

it was the beginning of August

and the county fair was in full swing

I know now,

that you hated fairs, carnivals, circuses, etc.

something about corndogs, drunk people, and rides that were built hastily the week before

irked you

it took a few of your rants later on,

but I understood the hatred behind them
