“We spent it all. We have none left. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have sold the prescriptions,” Zhu Hongyun lowers her head, her hands clenched around her clothes as she speaks.

“Zhaodi, Yindi, go search Zhu Hongyun’s room. If you find anything of value, bring it out.” Qiao Xiaomai instructs the sisters, who are washing their faces by the washbasin.

This command startles the sisters.

Upon hearing this, Zhu Hongyun, raises her head, exclaiming, “You dare!”

Qiao Xiaomai raises an eyebrow, “So, you do have valuable things but are unwilling to part with them.”

“I don’t!” Zhu Hongyun retorts, flustered.

“Then what are you scared of?” Qiao Xiaomai glances at her, her voice suddenly icier, “Zhaodi, Yindi, go search!”

Upon hearing the tone of this command, the sisters exchange a glance, and forget about finishing washing their faces. They quickly stand up and run toward Zhu Hongyun’s room.

Seeing this, Zhu Hongyun becomes anxious, and tries to intercept them.

Qiao Xiaomai calmly warns her, “Don’t run. If something happens to the child in your belly, your safety umbrella will be gone.”

Her words stop Zhu Hongyun immediately.

It’s the truth. The child in her belly is the only reason she’s not harmed. Nothing can happen to it.
