****************

The yellowish-orange glow of the fire stepped into her sight as she neared the forest house. There she saw the alpha and a few of his pack member sitting on the log. As she got closer, the alpha noticed her presence, he rose from the log, and waited for her to stop on her tracks.

“Protector.” The alpha greeted, bowing at Elektra when she stood right in front of him. “Henry.” His eyes glanced at the handsome vampire.

“Alpha.” Elektra mimicked the alpha’s tone, bowing as she showed her respect to him. Henry did the same as well, showing his respect.

The alpha was a handsome man. He’s somewhere in his forties. His dark brown hair was wild but it just made him even more handsome. He had a built figure, an eight pack and a very muscular body. His skin was tan, golden brown in colour. His eyes were deep green just like the leaves in the forest.

“I’m sorry to call you at this late hour.” He spoke as he waved his hand to the log, gesturing her to take a seat on the log, which she gladly took. Henry had already gone off with one of the pack members who was one of his friends.

“It is fine, Luke.” She replied, taking the polystyrene cup Filled with tea handed to her by one of the pack members. “Well, what seems to be the problem?” She asked before taking a sip of her tea.

Luke, the alpha smiled at her. “Well, look at you. Straight to business. You don’t want to chat with this old man?” He asked playfully.

Elektra rolled her eyes with a smile playing on her lips. “You know that’s not it, Luke.”

“I know. I’m just teasing you, kid.”The alpha chuckled as he ruffled her hair.

Elektra chuckled and gave him a look to continue which he did. “There are rogues on the loose. This morning my men found a person dead in the forest bitten to death. There were wolf tracks. My men tried to track them but was unable to find them. It seemed like they disappeared in thin air.” He explained.

Elektra gave him an encouraging nod for him to continue. He cleared his throat before he spoke. “The man was bitten wildly. It’s...how to say it...” He stopped as he stroked his moustache. “...not normal. It is as if the rogue is even wilder.”

Elektra frowned in confusion. Did the damage done to the man by the rogues was that bad?

“Oh, it was that bad, my dear protector.” He added. “You should’ve seen the body. It was dreadful.”

Elektra nodded before sipping her tea. “Well, I assume you want me to kill these wild rogues?” She raised her eyebrow.

“If you would, my dear protector. Seeing from the attack that the rogues did, they’re stronger and wilder. As you know, my pack is small and limited. We lost many of our members since the last war. I didn’t want to lose any more of my members.” He said with seriousness in his voice.

Elektra could understand that. He was protecting his pack. Losing more pack members would be devastating for everyone.

“Alright, alpha.” She spoke as she rose from her seat, which made Luke, stood up as well. “I will kill these rogues.”

The alpha’s face lightened in relief and happiness. Ela smiled seeing the old man’s happy expression. “In return,” She added. The alpha’s face turned confused. “In return, you must promise me to take care of your pack.” She smiled softly.

The alpha’s face softened as he smiled warmly at her. The protector was an amazing person. She never really asked anything in return. She was neither selfish nor arrogant. She was a pure hearted girl, beautiful in and out.  How the alpha wished she would Be one of his son’s mates but that was impossible since she wasn’t. They already checked on that. It was a huge disappointment to the alpha. He really wanted her to be his daughter in-law.

“I promise, protector.” He said, bowing low in respect to her.

Ela bowed back before she was taken into a surprise hug by the alpha. “You’re a wonderful girl, Elektra.” He whispered.

Ela blushed as she patted the alpha’s back. “Thank you, Luke.”

Luke slowly let her go and faced her with a smile on his face. “Could you not marry one of my sons?” He asked, a teasing glint in his eyes, though she could see some seriousness in them.

Ela chuckled as she shook her head gently. “Sorry but no. Thank you for the offer though. Besides, you’re really charming, Luke. I would rather marry you instead.” She teased..

Luke laughed as he patted her shoulder. “Ah, too bad I’m taken.”

“That’s a shame.” She smiled. They both chuckled before she glanced down at her watch and realized that it was late. “I should go. It’s getting really late.” She declared.

Luke gave her a small smile before pressing his lips to her cheek. “Thank you for coming, my dear. I hope to see you soon.”

“I’ll try, Luke. Say hi to Lily for me?” She inquired.

His eyes glazed with love when she mentioned that name. “I will. Thank you, Ela.”

Elektra gave a small nod and a smile before calling out for Henry. “Here.” Henry appeared at her side immediately, giving her a small smile before bowing at the alpha.

She gave one last nod at the alpha before she turn on her heels, and left the dark forest, hoping she could get a good night sleep.

“So, we’ll go searching for the rogues tomorrow?” Henry asked.

“Yup, right after slaying zombies.” She answered.

“Alright, enough of your duties for today.” Henry said, looking at her with a gentle expression on his face. “You should get some rest, little one.” He added as he looped his arm around her.

Elektra rested her head on his shoulder. “Hmm...I still have school tomorrow.” She said, feeling very sleepy out of the sudden.

“It’ll be alright, Elektra. Now, go to sleep.” She heard Henry’s hypnotic’s voice cooed her before she emerged herself into the darkness.

*********

Ela woke up with the sound of the alarm clock blaring in her ears. She composed herself so that she wouldn’t break the alarm clock once more. She shut the alarm off and slowly got up, opening her eyes slowly.

What happened last night and how did she get here? The last thing she remembered from last night was she and Henry walking out of the forest.

Realization hit her and she groaned in annoyance. She was that tired last night that she must have passed out.

She turned to see the clock and saw that she woke up at the right time. To her surprise, there was a note on her bedside table, which she took and read.

‘Good morning, little one. You passed out last night. I know you’re angry at yourself but don’t be. You had a long day you deserved to sleep. I’ll see you tonight, Ela. Have a good day.’

Her annoyance immediately when she read his note. Henry could be really sweet when he wanted to. She wasn’t really angry anymore but she was annoyed at herself to pass out like that.

She got out of her comfortable bed reluctantly and held back the urge to growl as she got herself ready for school.

*********

“Whoa.” It was the first word that left Elektra’s mouth when she reached Blake’s house.

Correction, it’s not a house. It was a freaking mansion. It was huge. The driveway itself was something extravagant, with a fountain in the middle. There was a garden next to the house, filled with flowers, bushes and trees. It looked so beautiful and calming. Elektra knew she could spend all day there. She wondered if Blake ever spent his time in the garden.

As they got into the house, a gasp escaped her mouth. There was a chandelier hanging in the middle of the room, a spiral stairway in the view, white polished marble floor that looked so clean, you can sleep on it.

“Too much?” A voice interrupted her amazement on his home.

She turned and found Blake who was looking uncomfortable with a hand rubbing behind his neck. Kate was nowhere in sight. She assumed she already went off to her room.

Ela shook her head furiously as she answered him. “No! It’s...It’s great. It’s beautiful.”

Blake smiled with relief. “Well, that’s good. I want you to feel comfortable here. Come on, let’s have dinner before we start our work. I’ll take you to my room first so you could out your bag there.” He innocently grabbed her hand, which sent sparks into her.

She stared at her hand that was in Blake’s hold before looking up to see Blake who looked shocked as well. Did he feel the sparks too? Ela wondered.

Ignoring the sparks, with her hand in his, Blake took her up the staircase and into his room. Once more, Ela was amazed at how huge his room was. It was surprisingly neat for a guy but it was just like him. There was a huge queen size bed with dark blue covers in the middle of the room.

A spacious brown table was situated at the corner of the room, next to a huge shelf filled with tons of books. There was a stereo next to the bed. A rack stacked with numerous CDs were placed just on top of the stereo, making it easy for a person to choose or switch the CDs. His closet, shut with a brown door was just right next to his bathroom that was attached to the room.

“Nice room.” She complimented as she dropped her bag next to bed while her eyes wandered around the room.

“Thanks.” Blake replied with a little amount of blush on his cheeks. “Umm...I got to check on Kate and the dinner. Wait here for a sec, okay? Make yourself at home.” He spoke with a smile before he closed the door and disappeared from her sight.

Ela let out a small sigh as she sat on his comfy bed. Blake’s presence made her all stuffy and weird. She needed a time out from it. It’s not that she didn’t like his presence, it was the opposite, really. She was scared something would grow for him. She didn’t want that. Liking someone, let alone loving someone were impossible for her. She had a duty and she was going to stick and focus on it.

She stood up, suddenly founding the desire to look at his collection of books. Her fingers lightly grazed along the books on the shelf. She smiled loving the feeling of the book. Books were her best friends, her company ever since she was little and she adore them.

She eyes out the collection that Blake had and her heart skipped a beat, somehow feeling happy that he had an amazing taste of books. Many of her favourites were there and there were ones that she had never seen nor read before. Being the book lover, she reached for the unfamiliar book that was located on the top shelf. However, she was unable to reach for it due to the tall shelf.

She grumbled and stood on her toes, with a hand on the shelf-rack, grabbing for support, as she attempts to grab the book. She struggled and jumped a few times attempting to reach for the book. With one last jump, she found relief and her heart cried in joy when the book was finally in her hand.

“Ela?” The deep melodious voice filled her ears and unfortunately, startled her.

She let out a small gasp as she lost her balance and braced herself for the fall. Her eyes shut closed as she waited for the impact but she didn’t feel the cold hard floor. She felt something hard though, but it was warm and comforting and heck, it smelt so good.

Her heart thumped rapidly as she opened her eyes. She stifled a gasp when she saw those gorgeous coffee brown eyes right in front of her. She felt heat radiating in her body from the stare that he was holding. His arms were around her, saving her from falling to the floor and his face was just centimetres away from her. She felt heat travelling up to her face and her heart skipped a beat at how close they were. She was practically in his warm arms.

Oh dear, she thought.

His eyes were still on hers and Elektra was unable to look away. Those dark brown eyes were like a magnet, attracting her eyes and she had no power to look away. They were so enchanting and mesmerizing that Elektra could find herself staring at it all day long.

She noticed his eyes suddenly flickered down to her lips and that small movement made her heart thumped even louder. She could feel his warm minty breath on her lips and she shivered thinking of his lips on hers.

“Blake!” Kate’s voice interrupted them. Blake immediately released her and Elektra quickly got on her feet. They both turned to look at Kate, looking like two kids who were caught stealing cookies in the cookie jar.

Blake cleared his throat several times before answering. “Yeah?” His cheeks coloured in embarrassment.

“Allie said dinner’s ready.” She informed with a smirk on her face as if she understood what was going on. Even though Kate was three, she was way matured.

“Okay, we’ll be down soon.” He replied. Kate gave them one last knowing smile before she was no longer in sight.

Blake turned his body, facing Elektra nervously. “Umm...dinner’s ready.” He said.

Ela could only nod at him, unable to meet his eyes. She heard Blake chuckled, which made her involuntarily lifted her head to meet his face.

“I caught you again. Are you sure you’re not doing this on purpose so you could fall into my arms?” He teased with a smirk.

Cocky bastard, Elektra thought. She rolled her eyes as she folded her arms together. “Don’t flatter yourself.”

Blake closed the distance between them and Elektra felt her heart race again. He bent his head down, his warm breath tickling her ear, sending shivers down her spine.

“You know you can’t resist me.” He said smugly.

Ela felt swallowed the lump in her throat as she gathered herself together. She was not going to fall easily on his feet. She turned, her face meeting his. Her hand slowly trailed down his chest, her eyes locked with his. She felt him shivered and she smiled silently, loving the effect she had on him.

“On the contrary, I think it’s you who can’t resist me.” She said with a smirk on her face.

The look on Blake’s face was priceless. He looked absolutely shocked. Elektra stifled her laugh as she turned on her heels and left Blake standing there in shock.

She didn’t know what came over her to do such a bold action. With Blake around, she’d done things she had never thought of doing before.

**************

Blake stood there in shock. She had left him speechless. He didn’t expect her to do something like that. She looked really innocent and shy, for her to do something like that clearly was a surprise.

A smile slowly appeared on his face. That bold action stirred something deep within him and he found himself wanting more from her. Blake instantly knew that she wasn’t just some girl. She was something special and he wanted her.

**************

Dinner with Blake and Kate had been amazing. They had a few good laughs and conversations. She was glad that their parents weren't there. It made her somehow more comfortable. She didn't have to worry about them not liking her.

The food had been delicious and their company was lovely. Elektra felt the need to be with these people again. They had been very nice and charming to her.

Blake and Elektra made a small progress on their project. They had discussed about the topic they wanted to choose and planned out the work. Blake was easy to work with despite his not-so-much knowledge in history. He tried to understand and listened carefully to her, which was something really pleasant.

During their discussion, Elektra could feel Blake’s heated stare at her several times, there were also times that their eyes would meet, and they ended up staring at each other without saying a word for a long time. Elektra knew that there was just something about Blake, something special that made her interested in him. He was different and he had released something deep inside of her, something she was not familiar with, something she still didn’t know what it was.

Did she like him? She did but she wasn’t sure about it. Sure, she likes him as a nice charming individual and there was no denying the attraction between them but did she like him more than that? She wasn’t really sure of it.

She had left Blake’s place hours ago and now, she was getting ready to slay the zombies and kill the rogues. She slipped Excalibur in its sheath and placed a gun in the holster.  She rarely uses guns and weapons other than her sword but she felt like the gun would come in handy later, just in case she needed it.

She felt the wind swept across her face and immediately sensed Henry’s presence in the room. “Ready?” She heard him.

She turned to meet a stunning looking Henry in front of Henry. “Let’s go kick ass.” She replied with threatening smile.

***************

Killing zombies went incredibly fast since Elektra wanted to hunt the rogues. She couldn’t waste anymore time. She gave the zombie no time to attack or mercy as she killed them in a flash. It was fast and brutal. She killed them viciously her wardrobe now was soaked with the zombie’s blood.

There was nothing unusual, the dead still being the dead, rose up from their graves and moaned as they attacked her. She did however noticed that zombies rose earlier that night and their number had increase. It made her curious and worried about it. Something was up and she needed to find out about it fast before anything bad happens.

She was now, walking quietly in the forest with Henry at her side. There were still no rogues in sight but she could sense that they were getting closer.

Elektra stopped walking and it made Henry stopped as well. She closed her eyes to amplify her senses and listened or the sign of the rogues. A few minutes passed and she heard something behind the large oak tree. She concentrated on her senses and waited for more. Another sound was heard but it was the other direction. She could hear steps and rustling, circling around her and that she knew that they had surrounded her. She could hear and sensed that they were seven of them or so she thought. It was a gift every protector had. The ability to hear and sense well.

Silence filled the air and in a flash, she heard a growl. “Henry, I think there’s seven of them. Get ready.” She muttered under her breath, quiet enough for only Henry to hear.

A loud snarled was heard and in seconds a large werewolf flew to their direction. Elektra’s eyes wide opened, her hand immediately sheathing her sword as she plunged the sword into the werewolf’s chest.

More werewolves came running to their direction and Ela immediately sprang into action. The waves were huge and it looked deadly. Most of the wolves' eyes were black in colour. They didn't look normal. It was like their humans were already dead inside and there was no way of going back to their human form.  They were indeed vicious.

She tightened her grip on her Excalibur and ran towards the werewolf, slashing its flesh deeply. Its howls were heard before Elektra ran her blade across the werewolf’s neck, which cause immediate death for it.

She glanced at Henry for a while to see if he was alright and saw that he was well, breaking the werewolf’s neck in half with his own bare hands. Three dead, three more to go, she thought.

She held up her sword when a wolf came jumping towards her. She fell to the ground but managed to shield herself from the wolf’s dangerous attack. It kept growling and trying to bite her neck off, but she kept him back with her sword using all the energy she had.

The wolf pounced on her, its teeth trying to scrape her neck. It was incredibly strong and Ela felt her energy leaving her. She hissed in pain when its claws dug into her arms. She came up with an idea as she quickly brought her legs up and kicked the werewolf hard, away from her. It flew across and hit its back on the tree trunk.

Before she could go on and attack the wolf, she heard another wolf running to her. It jumped towards her and she shielded herself from it, her feet were dragged back from the impact. The wolf fell back onto the ground but quickly stood back up. The alpha wasn’t lying when he said that they were different. They were in fact stronger and much meaner looking.

The wolf snarled and she ran  to the wolf to attack it. The wolf lunged to her with a deadly growl but she was faster. Her sword was plunged into its head, causing immediate death for the wolf. She pulled out her sword from it and looked around to see that there were no werewolves left. She saw Henry standing far from her with a dead werewolf on his feet.

“That’s all, I think.” He spoke.

Ela gave him a small nod, panting as well. All the Werewolves fight left her breathless. They were unnaturally strong and it had drained her energy. Her eyes wandered around as she counted the werewolves lying dead on the ground.

Her heart dropped as realization struck her. “Henry...” She called, her voice wavers slightly.

Henry turned to look at her curiously. She turned to him, worry in her face. “There’s only six of them.”

Henry’s face turned worried hearing her statement. Before Henry could say anything else, a wolf came running to them. They were both too caught up in that moment and wasn’t ready as they were unable to stop the wolf as it leaped and attacked Elektra. They both fell onto the ground with the wolf on top of her, her sword fallen of far from her.

“Ela!” Henry shouted.

Its teeth sank into her shoulder and Elektra yelled out in pain. She felt dizzy and she was losing her sight but she wouldn’t not retreat from the fight. She was a fighter and she will not lose.

She grabbed the gun from her holster and cocked it to its chest. With a loud cry of war, she pulled the trigger and the silver bullet flew into the werewolf’s chest. The biting stopped immediately as the werewolf's body went limp.

Relief came over her but the pain from the bite struck her. Henry kneeled and tore the wolf away from her. Worry and pain streaked his face as he examined her.

“Elektra.” He called. “Ela, you’ll be alright, love.” He whispered.

“Damn it.” Ela managed to breathe out. Sweats were pouring down her face and she looked extremely pale. Blood was pouring out from her shoulder. She was losing a lot of it.

Henry’s eyes glanced to the wound and he flinched. It was bad but her shoulder was not completely torn off. She would live if the wound were tended to immediately.  Blood was flowing down from the wound and the scent filled his nostrils. His lust for blood emerged but he shook his head and snapped out of it. He wasn’t going to let her die now and he wasn’t going to let his lust for blood took over him.

“Come on. We’ll go back to my place and tend the wound.” He wrapped his arms around her and picked her up, bridal style.

“Henry...” He heard her calling for him. He glanced down and saw that she was losing consciousness.

His heart tugged with pain to see her like this. “It’ll be alright, little one. Stay with me.” He whispered as he kissed her forehead. He tightened his hold around her and ran to his house as fast as he could to save the little darling in his arms.
