“So, what was that about?” Owen asked his friend whose eyes were focused on the road as he drove his Audi R8.

Blake glanced at Owen before returning his eyes to the road.

“Nothing.” He replied, shortly.

Owen threw his hands up in the air, rolling his eyes at Blake’s answer. “Oh...so we’re not sharing anything now...I see.” Owen mocked.

Blake frowned at his friend as he punched his arm lightly. “Is my love for you not enough ?” He teased.

Owen frowned. “That scene in the classroom isn’t nothing, Blake.”

“It was nothing, Owen. She’s my partner for the history project and I asked her for her number so I could call her and talk about it.” He replied with a shrug.

Owen smirked amusingly at his friend. “Did you...or did you just want her number for you?”

Blake sighed before he spoke. Knowing Owen, he wouldn’t let it go but Blake just didn’t want to talk about it just yet. He wasn’t even sure himself what was that about. “Owen, she’s my partner and that’s it.”

“Mhmm. Whatever makes you feel better.” Owen said with a smirk on his face.

“Anyway, why do I have to be at the meeting again?” Blake asked.

“Your dad wants you to be there. Besides, you’re the heir for the Conrad Company. You should be there.”  He answered him.

“There’s no way of getting out of this, isn’t it?” Blake spoke with a sigh.

Owen looked at his friend in sympathy. He knew that he didn’t like to get involved with his dad’s work. He wanted to pursue his dreams and work on his own instead.

“Yeah man. On the bright side, we’ll get free coffee.”

Blake chuckled before he let out another sigh. “That’s great, Owen. Just great.”

“Thanks again Chels, for doing the grocery for me.” Ela said affectionately to her friend as she unblocked her seat belt.

“Girl, it’s fine. Plus, little Darcy here seems very eager to go shopping.” Chelsea spoke, turning her face to Darcy who was smiling.

“Yeah!” Darcy exclaimed in excitement, her sweet smile lightened up the whole place.

Elektra smiled as she patted her sister’s head “Now, Darcy. Remember what I told you...”

“Don’t leave Chelsea’s side.” Her little sister replied.

Ela raised an eyebrow as she chimed in. “And...”

“Don’t buy too many sweets.” She sighed with a pout.

Ela just had to chuckle at her little sister. “Good. Take care, Darc.” She said as she pressed her lips on her sister’s forehead.

“See you, Ely.” Darcy waved.

“Don’t worry. I’ll take care of her. She’ll be fine and I’ll send her back home before coming here and give you the groceries.” Chelsea chimed.

Ela smiled as she hugged her friend and thanked her once more before she got off the car and headed into the day care.

As she entered the small one-storey house, she was greeted with Daniel’s bright smile. “Hey!” He greeted happily.

Ela smiled at him at the same time feeling curious at his eager happiness. “Did something happen?” She asked.

He grinned even more as he walked to her and hugged her tightly. “My music! Someone’s actually buying it!” He told her excitedly.

Apart from working in the daycare, Daniel had another job, making music, which was his absolute passion. He was not well known but he played at local clubs and weddings. His music, Ela sincerely thought was amazing and she felt that Daniel should get more recognition than ever. He was a wonderful singer with an amazing voice, not to mention wicked skills of playing the guitar.

“That’s great, Dan! Congrats!” Ela exclaimed excitedly as she hugged him back.

“It is! There were a few people that bought it before but I didn’t expect that many, last night!” He whooped.

Ela could only smile back happily at her friend. She was glad that he was getting successful and she was happy for him even though deep in her heart, she was afraid that Daniel might leave his day care job and go off to some production company.

“You deserve it, Dan. I’m really happy for you.” Ela said as she pressed her lips on his cheek before hugging him once more.

Daniel hugged her back, tightly and somehow, it seemed as if the hug was longer and more affectionate than it should be. Ela realized it and she immediately broke it off, pushing him away gently before meeting his face.

“I should check on the kids.” Ela spoke softly, her face coloured a bit.

Clearing his throat, Daniel nodded. “Yeah, sure.” He replied as he let her go.

Ela couldn’t help but think that Dan may like her. She liked him but not in that way. She only saw him as her friend and her brother. No, there was no way Daniel might like her. She was plain and boring. Besides, they were friends and Daniel had met tons of stunning women. So, there was no way that Daniel might like her.

Ela made walked away and immediately went into her work mode, entertaining innocent kids for the whole day.

*****************************

Ela picked up the last piece of toy on the floor and gladly put in the play box, wiping the sweat on her forehead when she was done. She glanced around and was glad that the day care was clean, proud that she did it in a nick of time. Not only that, she also managed to complete her homework while she was working which was a huge compliment for her since taking care of kids was a lot of work. She didn’t mind though. The kids made her happy.

It was almost seven and the daycare was soon closed. Daniel had left minutes ago and it was just her and little Kate. Ela received a text message from Blake few hours ago, surprisingly. He told her that he would be a little late. Well, it’s almost four hours since he texted, so a little late didn’t cover it.

Ela took a seat next to Kate, who was playing with a stuffed brown teddy bear. She looked up at her with those innocent honey brown eyes. Elektra smiled as she took out a lollipop from her pocket and gave to the child who gladly took it with a smile on her face.

“Thank you.” Kate twitted.

“Blake will be here shortly, I think.” She said to the little girl. “Sorry that he’s late. I’m sure something important came up.”

Kate shook her head and threw Ela a smile. “It’s okay. Blake wouldn’t be late on purpose. He’ll be here soon. He’d always been.”

Ela smiled at the little girl, stroking her blonde hair gently. “You really love your brother, don’t you?”

Kate’s face lightened up as she nodded. “I do! A lot. Blake’s always there for me. Mummy and daddy are always busy but it’s okay. Blake’s the one that takes really good care for me.”

Elektra’s heart melted at the girl’s confession. It’s so amazing to know that Blake really took good care of Kate and loved her but it’s sad to know that she didn’t get enough attention from her parents.

“Well, I’m glad Blake’s there for you and for your parents...I’m sure they love you.” She spoke.

The little girl nodded. “I know...and it’s okay. Daddy’s just working. He works in a huge building and it’s really cool and I still could see daddy and mummy sometimes.”

“Yes, you could.” Ela replied, her hand still stroking Kate’s hair.

“What about you, Ely? What about your daddy?” Kate asked, looking up at her with her innocent face.

Hearing her question, Ela’s face fell automatically but it was soon replaced with a sad smile on her face. “He’s a great and loving man.” She said while her mind played the memories of her father.

“And...” She twitted before moving closer to Kate and whispered in her ear. “...he’s actually a superhero.”

“Really?” She asked, her eyes wide in surprise and excitement.

Elektra’s smile widened as she nodded. “Yeah...but you can’t tell anyone. It’s secret, okay?” She said, pressing her finger on her lips.

Kate nodded in agreement, mimicking Elektra as she pressed her finger on her lips. Elektra broke out a chuckle and Kate smiled, a smile filled with happiness.

The sound of the bell from the door chime broke their conversation and caught both of their attention. They turned their head to the door and saw Blake standing there handsomely as always. He looked a little bit tired though but that didn’t make him look less handsome.

“Hey, I’m sorry I’m late.” He said, breathlessly as he made his way to the two girls who were already on their feet.

“It’s okay.” Kate replied before hugging her brother tightly.

“Were you good?” He asked, patting his little sister’s head affectionately.

“Yup. We had lots of fun today.” She exclaimed excitedly with a big grin on her face.

Blake smiled back at her before lifting his head to look at Elektra. Her heart stopped when her eyes met those gorgeous coffee brown eyes. “Thank you for taking care of her.”

“You’re welcome.” She managed to breathe out.

“I’m sorry that you have to wait. Work went longer than I expected.” He said, his voice sounded strained that made Elektra assumed that he didn’t like his work much.

“It’s fine.” She replied with a small smile.

Blake stepped closer to her, his eyes never left hers as he spoke. “Would you like to join us for dinner and maybe we could talk about the project?”

He was close. Too close. It was making Elektra hard to breathe. She couldn’t think straight nor say anything as she stared at him.

“Umm...Ela?” He called out, his head tilted to the side, making him looked adorable.

Ela mentally slapped herself for not responding and cleared her throat before she answered him. “I don’t know...I have to get home and there’s so much to do...” Her voice sounded guilty and uncertain.

She didn’t want to reject him but there was so much to do. Besides, she didn’t want to be this close to him. He made her lose her composure and she didn’t like it. She didn’t like that he had such an effect on her.

She saw a flash of disappointment in his eyes. Oh no, don’t look at me like that. “It’ll be just for a while. We’re getting pizza. Please?” He asked again, his eyes glimmered with hope. He looked so adorable and handsome, it was hard to resist him.

Oh well, maybe the research could wait and her homework was done. So, there wasn’t really much to do. Her chores and the groceries were done. There’s no harm on joining them. “Alright.” She answered.

Blake’s face lightened as he grinned at her charmingly. Her heart skipped a beat seeing him smile like that just because she said yes to his invitation to dinner. Oh, stop it, Ela. He’s just a guy!

A very attractive guy, her mind whispered.

She held back the urge to roll her eyes at herself. This really need to stop, she thought before she snapped out of her inner battle and looked at Blake who was looking at her with an amused look on his face.

“Umm...sorry?” She uttered, blinking her eyes severally.

A deep chuckle left Blake’s throat and Ela swore she almost swooned. Curse him! “I was asking if you’re ready to go.” He said.

“Oh! Umm...let me just get my bag and I’ll be ready.” She said to him, her thumb pointing at the locker where she kept her bag.

“Okay then. We’ll wait outside. Come on Katie.” He chirped as he took Kate’s hand and headed to the door.

When they were no longer in sight, Ela let out a sigh as she ran her fingers through her dark brown hair. Why did she have to act all weird around him? She was acting like those girl who’s completely crazy over her crush. He was not her crush. Okay, well maybe she did have a little tiny crush on him. It’s just that he was so damn attractive and those eyes, she could spent all day just staring at them.

After grabbing her bag, she sprinted out and made sure to lock the door.

“Ready?” Blake asked. She turned around and saw him leaning against the car.

“Yup.” She replied.

Blake, like the gentleman he was, opened the car door for her. She muttered thanks before getting in the car with her heart fluttering. If he kept this up, man, she was going to be in a huge trouble.

Fast forward, they were now on their way sending Elektra to her house. Little Kate had fallen asleep a few minutes ago, sleeping soundly in the backseat. Elektra’s lips twitched up into a smile. They had an amazing time at a small pizza place. It was a place where Kate and Blake usually go to. The food was amazing. Kate was simply enchanting. Her cuteness was just too much that Elektra had fallen in love with the little girl already. She reminded her of Darcy a lot. If they were to meet, they’d be best friends in seconds.

And Blake. He was so mesmerizing. She could not get enough of him. The way he looks at her drove her crazy. His scent was dearly addictive, her own personal drug. His smile was enchanting and those lips, she wondered timelessly at how soft they were. It made her blush like crazy just thinking about it. The times when their knees accidently brushed each other’s made her face flushed. Heat flamed in her body and tingles were sent through that simple accidental touch.

He was amazing. A dream man that any girl would have wanted.

But she was not for him. They do not belong together. She reminded herself about it many times. He deserved someone better looking and definitely someone who doesn’t kill monsters. Not her.

“So, you’ll come to my house tomorrow, right?” Blake’s voice was heard, invading her messed up thoughts.

She quickly nodded and answered him. “Yeah. I’d take it we’ll go together from the daycare?”

“Mhmm. We have the same class for last period, right?” He asked.

Her heart fluttered knowing that he knew the simple fact that they have the same class for last period tomorrow. Was he looking at her all time? Did he really notice her?

A chuckle left her throat as she turned her head to look at him. “You know my schedule. Are you stalking me?” She teased. She didn’t know what came over her but talking with Blake was so easy and comfortable .He didn’t make it hard for her. It felt normal.

Blake’s deep chuckle filled the air. “I am not. I sat beside you in History, three seats behind you in Literature and two seats next you in Calculus.” Blake let out a groan when he noticed what he had just said. Great work, Conrad, he told himself. Now she was going to think he’s a stalker.

“Wow, you are stalking me.” She chuckled.

Blake groaned once more as he ran his fingers through his jet black hair. “Forget what I said.”

“I don’t think I could.” Elektra answered. “It’s funny that you’re the only guy who actually noticed me in class.”

Blake’s eyes widened at her answer. Was this girl serious? Did she not know how beautiful she was? He was pretty sure every guy was eyeing her. “Well, class tends to get boring. So, my eyes were everywhere.” He said. “...and it’s hard for me to not notice a very beautiful girl in class.” He spoke without hesitation.

From the corner of his eyes, he could see that she was blushing. She looked so freaking adorable. He was at the edge of not kissing her. He really wanted to since he saw those beautiful sunset eyes up close. God, she was absolutely beautiful.

“Oh, we’re here.” Blake announced. They sure did a lot of talking since they didn’t even realize that they actually had reached the place. Blake carefully parked his car at the side of the road and placed the gear in parking before turning his head to her.

“Umm...thank you for joining us for dinner. I-I mean we had a great time.” He said, stuttering at his words as he threw her a sheepish smile.

Ela could help but to smile back. He was so adorable when he wanted to be. “Thank you for inviting me and for paying.” She replied.

He threw her a breathtaking smile as he chuckled. Elektra just noticed that he was close to her. So close that she could feel his breath one her face. “It’s my pleasure.” He murmured, his eyes searching hers.

Oh dear, Elektra thought. She was going to swoon.

She scrambled and pulled her face away from him immediately. From the corner of her eyes, she looked at him and saw a flash of hurt and disappointment in his eyes.

Okay, she did not expect that.

“Umm...thank you for the dinner. I’ll see you tomorrow?” She asked, her voice filled with hope.

He did not respond immediately, he just stared at her with an unreadable expression. “Of course. See you, Elektra.” He said with a smile on his face. His voice so enchanting she wished she could hear him more.

She swallowed a lump in her throat and gave him a weak smile. “Good night, Blake.” She whispered before she got out of the car and walked to her door.

She turned her head to see that he was still there, looking at her from his car with a smile on his face. She gave him a shy wave, which he responded with an eager smile.

When she unlocked her door, she heard the car drove away. She let out a small sigh, happy that she had an amazing night with Blake and her sister. They were both amazing people and she couldn’t just take her eyes off him.

She entered the living room quietly and was surprised to find Georgina sitting on the red mahogany chair that her dad used to sit. There was a frown on her face as she glared at her. Elektra felt uneasiness at Georgina’s sudden anger. Great, what did she do now?

“You’re late! Where have you been?” She asked, her voice filled with displeased.

Elektra frowned s she glance at the clock near the stairs. It was only ten. It’s not like she arrived home at midnight.

“I was with a friend. We were discussing about our history project. I texted you about it.” She answered her with a strong and calm tone.

Reina pursed her lips, her eyes narrowed at her before she took out her phone and checked it. The face expression she had when she looked at her phone let Elektra knew that she had received the text. She seemed really displeased about it. Elektra knew Georgina just wanted to find something that she could use of to punish her.

“Well...did you get the groceries?” She asked, her chin up arrogantly.

“Yeah, I’ll store them in the kitchen now.” Elektra replied.

Georgina gave her a short nod before turning on her heels and headed for the stairs. When she was no longer in sight, Elektra let out a sigh as she headed to the kitchen. She was glad that she won this time but knowing Georgina, she wouldn’t stop torturing her for sure.

Ignoring the thoughts about Georgina, her mind was filled with the short night she had with Blake. Her lips twitched up thinking about it.

“You know that he’s only using you.” A voice interrupted her thoughts.

Turning around, she saw Reina leaning against the wall. It shocked her that she was so lost in her thoughts about Blake that she didn’t sense her presence.

“He only wants to get in your pants and then, break your silly little delusional heart. I mean who would want a girl like you?” She sneered.

Elektra held back a small chuckle. She knew she was just trying to make her feel horrible. Blake was just her partner, nothing else. She didn’t really hope or expect him to like her, did she? Uncertainty and confusion suddenly filled her.

“I have no interest in him, Reina. He’s all yours.” She said ignoring the slight twinge in her heart when she spoke those words.

“You bet. He's all mine, Elektra. Get that in your head.” She smirked before she walked out of the kitchen and disappeared from her sight.

Her heart twinge once more at the thought of Blake being hers. Of course, every guy would fall for her. She was pretty, sexy and hot. Nothing Elektra was.

“You know, she was just trying to get to you.” A voice interrupted her train of thoughts.

She let out a gasp as she turned and found Henry standing there in his glory of handsomeness. “Henry, you startled me.” She whispered.  Wow, Regina words were actually getting to her since she didn’t realize Henry’s presence.

“Oh, I’m sorry little one.” He spoke as he moved closer to her, his hand cupping her face. “Are you alright?” He asked, worry etched on his face. “You look a little bit tired.”

Elektra smiled, leaning into his cold hand. “I’m fine Henry.”

A smile broke though his face. “So, how was the date?” He asked.

Elektra’s eyes widened at his words. How in the world did he know?

Henry let out a chuckle at her surprised face. “Relax, little one. I was at the daycare. I wanted to walk you home but I saw the young man there. So...”

Ela raised her eyebrow at him. “...and you didn’t bother to come out and say hi?” She asked.

“...and ruin your date with the young man? Heavens, no.” He grinned cheekily at her.

Ela shook her head at him. “It wasn’t a date. We were discussing about the history project. He’s my partner.” She announced.

“Whatever you say, little one.” Henry spoke as he patted her head. “Anyway, I am here for a reason.”

Hearing Henry’s voice filled with seriousness, Elektra turned into business mode, her face filled with seriousness. “What is it?” She asked.

“The alpha wants to talk to you.” Henry informed.

“What did he want?” She asked.

“He didn’t tell. He just told me that he wanted to meet you. He’ll be at the forest house.”

“I’ll be there.” She answered, giving Henry a small nod. “Now...” She spoke, the seriousness on her face disappeared. “Help me with the groceries?” She asked, her eyes lifted playfully at him, giving him the puppy dog face.

Henry chuckled and smiled. “Alright, little one.” He answered.
