"Guess it's a no again. Let's go home." Elektra informed with disappointment and stood up from the wet ground.
It had been the third night where there were no zombies emerging from the graveyard and even from the forest. It was out of the norm, really. Well, none of the things she does is normal anyway since she's the Protector. It was still odd though. It had been three days yet still no sign of them. First they emerged somewhere else than their graves, then they carry weapons with them and now, they won't even show themselves.
Something was definitely up.
And Elektra had to be lying if she said she wasn't worried.
"We have got to put an end on this." She emitted, frustration evident in her tone.
"And the only way is to find the source of it." Henry replied with a knowing look.
"We don't know who we're fighting but we know who's working for him or her. We have to find Vlad." She urged.
"I doubt we can find him tonight since we wasted two hours here in this creepy graveyard." Henry acknowledged as he looked around. "Let's go back to the lair. I'll contact the others and ask for Vlad's roundabouts."
"Alright...I have things to work on as well." She rejoined as they both walked out of the graveyard and headed back to the lair.
*******
Back in the lair, they were not able to get much information on Vlad. However, Luke informed them that one of his pack members had seen him somewhere in the east forest but he soon disappeared, making them unable to track him. They tried to follow his scent, but it wasn't that strong.
"The elves said they haven't seen him so far...but they would keep in touch if he appears." Henry informed as he made his way to her who was sitting on a chair with her hands full. Her left hand was holding a screwdriver while her right was holding a black glove in its place on the microscope's stage.
"What are you doing?" He asked, bending his body down to look at her creation.
"Oh, it's a new thing I've been working on." Elektra replied as she put her screwdriver down and lifted her head from the microscope.
She turned to him with a smile on her face, proud of her work. "I'm not going to complicate things for you...I'm not going to make your head spin by explaining how it works...So, in a 'human' language, it's a glove with electromagnet that attracts the sword's grip."
"Okay, Einstein. Its purpose?" He asked.
"Well, if the sword falls off too far from me, I could just 'call' it." She grinned.
Henry raised his eyebrow. "Like Iron Man?"
"Precisely but I'm powering the glove with the energy transferred to the glove. It's coded to the metal grip of the sword. The concept of it is the same as Iron Man but I'm not putting it in my body or anything." She answered as she stood up and went to the middle of the room. "Let me show you."
"Are you sure about this?" Henry asked with an amused smile.
"Yes. Don't worry. It's harmless." She said as she spread her arm and held out her hand. Suspense filled the air as she concentrated on the sword. However, much to her disappointment, it did nothing.
"Well, that didn't work." Henry teased.
"Hush you..." She scolded before turning her attention back to the sword.
She smiled when she saw the sword move. However, her smile dropped when the sword went flying from the table and across the room too fast, heading towards her dangerously. She pulled her hand away and avoided the sword, as it went pass her, hitting the table lamp behind her as it clattered to the floor.
Silence filled the air. She looked at Henry who was looking at her with eyes wide in shock.
"Okay, really need to work on that."
Henry chuckled as he walked to her and patted her head. "You'll get it right, Einstein."

"So..." Chelsea drawled. "Are you going to the charity ball?" Chelsea asked her friend as she closed her locker's door.
Every year, the school will organize a charity ball and the money collected would go to a different organization each year that helps the ones in need. Only certain grades are able to attend the ball. She had her opportunity last year when she was finally able to go.
She had wanted to go, to experience high school life and the ball. Unfortunately, since her dad went missing a year before and Georgina took over the house and her life, her pleas to go to the ball were rejected. Georgina wouldn't even let her have a say in it. Besides, most of the students looked at her as an outcast except for Chelsea of course, since Reina and Riley took over the school.
"You know I can't, Chels." Elektra sighed.
"Oh, come one, Ela. You have to go. Screw what those bitches say! Besides, it's a masquerade theme this year." Her friend pleaded.
Ela smiled at her. When Chelsea had mention about them, her mind thought about Reina. After the incident where she snapped in the kitchen, Reina had completely backed off. Well, not completely. She still received glares, remarks, and talks behind her back, including tortures from her but through Georgina.
However, Reina could never look at her in the eyes. Whenever she was around, she could see somehow that Reina was uncomfortable, more likely in fear. She completely backed off about the Blake topic and her torturing towards her lessened. To say that Elektra wasn't happy was a lie. She was truly delighted.
"I don't know, Chels. They didn't let me go last year." She informed.
Chelsea's shoulders slumped as she pouted her lips. "Please? Can't you sneak out or something? Besides, I think there's a certain someone who really wants to ask you to the ball." She implied.
Ela cocked an eyebrow at her. "Really?"
Groaning, Chelsea rolled her eyes at how dense her best friend could be. "Really? You really need to think who'd it be?"
"Like who?"
"Oh my god, I swear I'm going to soak that pretty face of yours in hot melted cheese." She grumbled. Elektra smiled, amused with her friend.
"Of course it's Blake." Chelsea claimed.
"Huh?"
"I swear...you..." Chelsea clenched her fists to control her frustration.
"Like he's really asking me?" Elektra asked in all seriousness.
Chelsea let out a sigh as she held her friend's shoulders. "The boy's in love with you, Ela. Of course, he would ask you."
"He is not."
"Keep denying yourself there, honey. He is in love with you." Chelsea grinned.
"How are you so sure? Besides, are you sure he's even going?" Elektra asked, closing her locker's door.
"He needs to. His dad donated a million for the school. And since his dad couldn't come, he had to be the one to deliver the speech."
Elektra let out a small sigh. "I don't know, Chels. I'm not sure I can go at the first place." She smiled weakly.
"Okay...but if he asked you, would you be his date and go?" Chelsea asked with a grin on her face.
Elektra let out a chuckle and nodded shyly. "I would."
"Yes!"Chelsea yelled out in happiness as she threw her fists in the air. Good thing school had already finished or there would be people looking at them weirdly.
Not like they haven't got any weird looks.
Elektra laughed. "Why are you so excited about this?" She questioned, pulling her friend's hands from the air.
"Because...you don't see it, Ela but you're happier with him." Chelsea acknowledged her friend.
It was true. Ever since Blake had been her friend, Chelsea noticed how her friend had gotten happier. It was something beautiful to see, her friend loving someone while Blake loving her as much as she does even if she couldn't see it. She was happy to see her friend in such happiness. She deserved every bit of it.
Elektra smiled as she squeezed on of Chelsea's hand. "I am happy..." She chuckled before giving Chelsea a breathtaking smile. "I love him."
Chelsea's eyes grew wide, not expecting her to ever admit it. She jumped in glee before hugging her best friend tightly.
"Oh my goodness. I am so happy for you. Like chocolate cake happy, Ela!" She exclaimed, hugging Elektra even tighter.
"Can't breathe, Chels." Elektra gasped in desperate need for oxygen.
"Ops...sorry." Chelsea released her arms around her and looked at her with a huge smile on her face. "I'm so proud of you, Ela. My little girl's growing up...leaving me behind to become an old maid with nine cats..." Chelsea sniffed.
"Chels..." Ela groaned. "Don't say that. Besides, you and Owen have got something going on."
Her friend's eyebrows furrowed together at her word. "That asshole still hasn't asked me for a date or even the charity ball. He's a total player, I tell you." Chelsea fumed.
"Yeah, but you like him and I can tell he likes you too." She noted.
"Meh...either way, he's going to get it from me if he's still not asking." Chelsea said triumphantly with a smirk on her face.
Just when she was about to reply, they heard someone calling her. Both of them turned their head to see Blake running towards them.
"Well, sexy man's here." Chelsea informed.
"Hey." Blake greeted slightly out of breath from the running. He smiled at Chelsea before meeting Elektra's eyes. His smile went even brighter.
"I'll wait for you in the car. Meanwhile, I'll go kick Owen's ass." She said, smiling to both of them as she turned and walked away, leaving them both behind.
Turning her head back to him, she smiled as she greeted him. "Hey." She breathed out.
"Hi." He simply replied.
"We're not going to keep greeting each other, are we?"
He chuckled with her and shook his head, grinning. "No. That'd be weird."
"So, what can I do for you, prince charming?" She questioned, tilting her head to the side.
She saw the nervousness on his face and how his cheeks were flushed. He opened his mouth to say something but ended up closing it.
"Cat got your tongue, prince charming?" She smirked.
Blake frowned and pursed his lips at her. "Oh you..." He grumbled before grabbing her in his arms. With her back facing his chest, he started to rub his knuckles on top of her head.
"Ow! Okay! Okay! Sorry!" She yelped. "Let me go!" She hissed while she hit his arms around her.
Blake chuckled as he slowly released her from his arms. "Now, are you going to behave?" He smirked.
Frowning, she glared at him. "Fine."
Blake ruffled her hair before falling into silence again. He looked at her, most pleadingly, his eyes sparkling with hope. It made her wonder what made him nervous so much.
"You know the charity ball's coming up..." He nervously said, rubbing the back of his neck. "And I was wondering...you know...if you w-"
"You're rambling, Blake." She chuckled.
Blake looked at her with a soft smile playing on his lips before letting out a shaky breath. "Would you like to be my date for the charity ball?"
Elektra's eyes grew wide in surprise. She was indeed surprise that he'd ask her to the ball even though her friend had told her he would. It was still something unexpected. Heck, she didn't expect anything that has to do with Blake and her to happen.
She stood there and looked at him whom kept rambling, telling her she didn't have to if she didn't want to. At the sight of him, being adorable and sweet, her heart melted in happiness. Her lips slowly turned up into a soft smile.
Closing the distance between them, Blake who was still mumbling and staring at the floor, she cupped his cheek, leaned up and kissed his stubble cheek.
She pulled away, but not before letting her lips linger there for a little while. She lifted her eyes and saw the shock on his face, his eyes wide open in surprise and his cheeks flushed slightly. The sight of him made her smile again.
"I'd love to, Blake." She replied to his request.
"Really? He breathed out, beaming with happiness.
Elektra nodded. "Yeah, but...I don't think I'm able to go." She stated, giving him an apologetic smile at the end.
His grin dropped and Elektra felt guilty immediately seeing his disappointed face. "Oh...I...Why?" He asked.
"You know why, Blake." She smiled sadly.
His eyes flashed with realization. She could see how her words started to dawn upon him. What she was not expecting was Blake grabbing both of her shoulders and pulling her close to him, their toes touching, her hands resting on his muscular chest.
"I'll talk to your stepmom." He said, his eyes searching hers.
Frowning, Elektra looked at him with disbelieve. "Maybe the kiss on the cheek did more damage than I thought it would."
Blake grinned, his eyes gleaming with amusement. "I'm serious, Ela. I'll talk to her."
"And let me face her wrath afterwards?" She chuckled. "Hell, no."
Blake bit his lip before letting out a sigh, looking at her pleadingly. "Please, Ela."
"I'm not letting you talk to her." She argued.
Blake let out a groan before wrapping his arms around her waist and rested his forehead on hers. His eyes looked straight into hers and Elektra felt her argument died at the tip of her tongue.
"Do you trust me, Ela?" He asked, his coffee brown eyes staring into her soul.
"You know I do." She managed to breathe out.
With his eyes focusing on hers, he answered her, "Then trust me to handle this, okay?"
She looked into those eyes filled with happiness and found herself falling at his charm. She couldn't argue with him and decided to let him do whatever he was going to.
Giving him a defeated smile, she nodded. "Okay."
"Okay?" He asked with a bright smile on his face.
"Yes." She nodded.
Blake started to laugh as she picked her up in his arms and spun her around. She yelped and laughed along with him before he placed her back to the ground.
"I'll handle it, alright?" He reassured her.
She smiled lovingly at him, wondering how lucky she was to have him by her side. How he easy he made her love him. "I know. I trust you."
*****************************
Blake walked to his car with his beaming with happiness. Well, how couldn't be happy since the girl of her dreams said yes on being his date for the charity ball with him. It made his day.
At first, he did not look forward to going. Heck, he didn't even want to attend but his dad made him since he couldn't attend it. Now, he was actually looking forward for it. He could not wait to see her in a gorgeous dress that would take his breath away and leave him speechless.
A hand on his arm interrupted his daydream. Turning his head, he frowned when his eyes saw who it was.
"Hi Blake." Reina greeted with a seductive smile.
Blake groaned inwardly. Just when his day was getting better. He did not get this woman. It had been many times she had come to him, touching him in the most daring way and he had declined and push her away. Yet, she still did not get the idea that he didn't want her. He did not want to have anything to do with her even if she's Elektra's stepsister.
At first, he did think how pretty this girl was. He was not really disgusted with her when he first saw her but when he knew what she and her mother did to Elektra, Blake definitely didn't want anything to do with such an ugly person. Blake was raised not to hit a woman. It was in his book but if Reina were a man, he would not even give her a chance to fight back.
"Hi." He replied coolly out of politeness as he pulled his arm away from her touch.
Reina frowned at him. "Whatever." She mumbled. Looking up at him as she twirled a finger in her hair, she seductively placed a hand on his chest, which made Blake scrunched his nose in disgust.
"I was wondering..." She purred in his ear. "Would you like to go to the ball with me?" She asked.
Blake did his best to hold back his laughter but failed when a few chuckles escaped his mouth. He could see the confused look on her face, which made him chuckle even more. "You seriously think that I would want to go with you?" He asked.
Smiling seductively, she batted her eyelashes. "Of course. Why wouldn't you? In fact, who doesn't want to?" She flirtatiously said, her hand on his chest slid down to his torso.
Blake couldn't take it anymore. He laughed. He laughed loudly and joyfully, making people turned their heads at him.
He heard Reina let out an annoyed huff. With his laughter dying down, he wiped the tears that escaped his eyes and smirked at the foolish girl.
Picking her hand on his torso like a string stuck to his shirt, pulling it away before dropping it carelessly, he shook his head at her.
"I honestly would gladly not go with a girl who hits on everything that has a stick on it." He said before walking away, leaving a very furious and baffled looking Reina behind him.
As Blake made to his car and turned the ignition, his passenger door was open and he could hear Owen yelling out in pain. Blake grinned, as he knew Chelsea stuck to her words.
"Alright, woman. No need to go violent on me." He heard his friend said.
"I'll pick you up tonight, okay?" He said before getting into the car and closing the door.
Blake turned to him with an amuse grin on his face which made Owen looked at him curiously.
"What?" He asked.
Blake shook his head in response as he pressed his foot on the gas pedal. "Nothing."
"You're weird." Owen replied with a frown.
Blake chuckled at his friend before he stated out his question. "So...Chelsea?" He teasingly asked.
He saw how Owen's lips twitched up into a smile and he knew Chelsea meant more to him. "That's one crazy and violent woman."
"You're going out with her tonight?"
"Yeah...she scolded me how I didn't ask her out for so darn long." Owen chided.
Blake grinned as he elbowed his friend's arm. "But you want to ask her out, don't you?"
Owen chuckled and playfully hit Blake's shoulder with his fist. "What about you? Did she say yes on being your date for the ball?"
A wide smile appeared on Blake's face and Owen felt happiness filled in him to see how happy his friend was.
"She did...but her step mother's a problem."
"Want me to kidnap her?" Owen teasingly suggested.
Chuckling, Blake shook his head. "No need. I'll handle it."
Owen smiled at his friend, patting his shoulder briefly. "It's good to see you this happy, man. You better not let her go."
Smiling, he turned his head to Owen with determination and confidence in his eyes. "Don't worry. I plan not to."
********************************
"So...what are we doing again?" Henry asked his friend who was scanning the dark forest.
They were walking around in the dark forest where Luke informed that Vlad was seen last night. The air was wet, the dark sky was misty with grey clouds and only the glowing crescent moon was their guide.
Tired of the catastrophe going on, Elektra decided to search for Vlad instead of wasting time on the zombies. She figured that if they could get to Vlad, they would get to whom they were working for. However, Vlad was an expert at hiding but it was worth a try searching for him in the forest.
Elektra turned her face to meet his. "We are looking for Vlad." She simply stated.
Henry cocked his eyebrow in confusion. "No zombie hunting tonight?"
"I doubt there'll be any." She replied while she jumped over the dead tree trunk on the ground.
"Are you even sure he's here?" He asked.
"No." She replied nonchalantly.
Henry groaned but didn't say anything. He knew how she works and he trusted her.
They froze when they heard a woman's scream in the air. Elektra ran to the direction of the scream with Henry guarding her from behind.
They found themselves out of the forest, standing in the middle of a grassy field circled by trees. In the centre of the field, she saw a vampire on the ground with his mouth on the woman's neck. Her stomach churned at the sight of the vampire feeding off the woman.
The vampire turned his head to them as he realized that they were there. He pulled his mouth away from the woman's neck and Elektra's heart sunk when she saw the limp body on the ground.
Growling, she lifted her eyes to the vampire who was looking at her with a sly smile.
"It's the Protector. My day's just got better." He said as he stood up.
Drawing her sword out of her sheath, she glared at him. "Probably not."
The vampire ran towards her in a flash. Picking up her senses, she lifted her sword and blocked the incoming attack from her right. The vampire growled at her with pitch black eyes as she held him back with the flat of her sword.
She lifted her knee and sunk it on its stomach. The vampire hunched in pain. He groaned when her left foot met his cheek as he dropped to the ground.
Before the vampire could react, Elektra sunk her blade into his chest, making him scream in pain before turning into dusts.
"Henry?" She called out, as her eyes found him.
"She's dead." Henry said solemnly as he swiped his hand over the woman's face, closing her eyes.
Ela's grip of on her sword tightened as she closed her eyes in frustration and grief. She failed to save the innocent woman's life.
Her eyes opened when she heard the sound of a person clapping. She turned to the direction and anger boiled in her when she saw whom it was. Henry was immediately by her side as she felt his hand squeezing her shoulder.
"You managed to kill one of my men. Well done, Protector." Vlad smirked as his clapping died down.
"Thanks but you'd be even more surprise at what I could do to you." She stated coolly.
Vlad chuckled as his black lifeless eyes met hers. "Ah, I'd love to...but not tonight, Protector...because someone's dying to play with you." He informed before vanishing from their sight.
They started to run for him but stopped when they heard rustling in the forest. They turned to the forest and searched for any glimpse of what it was.
Heart pounding loudly and holding her breath, Elektra gripped her sword tighter as she was afraid on what's coming.
A gasp left her mouth when she saw something red from the forest.
Dear god, no.
She swallowed a lump in her throat hoping it was not what she thought it was.
The moonlight shone on their enemy as it came out of the forest, stepping its foot onto the field. A gasp left both of their mouths as their eyes met the beast standing a few yards in front of them.
"No..." She choked out as her thoughts came true.
The Berserker.
The uncontrollable monster.
The insanely tall, statue-like body stood a few yards from them, rigid and tense. Its dark black hair was messy and reached until its shoulder. In its hand was a huge medieval axe that could cut her into half. The monster's teeth that could chew a human bone gleamed in the dark but what terrified Elektra the most, was its blood coloured, mad eyes.
Her body shivered seeing those eyes. It seemed like the human had disappeared. All she could see in them were rage.
Those red angry eyes glared at them, as it lifted its head to the dark sky and let out a loud, bone-shivering growl that shook the air.
Elektra's body went weak as its growl rung in her ears. Her face paled and her breathing came out shakily. Henry looked at her with shocked and frightened eyes. He had never seen the creature before and worried filled in him when he saw how terrified she was.
He saw how her body shook and how colour drained from her face seeing the monster in front of them. Turning back to the monster, he saw the monster walking towards them and he barely heard the shaky word that left Elektra's pale lips.
"Run."
