"I promise I'll return it as soon as I wash it." Elektra said as she pointed her finger at Blake's shirt that she was wearing.

They were both drenched wet when they got back into the house. They even got scolded by the housekeeper. They could only hold back their laughter as she scolded them. Despite her frown, they could see her eyes glittering in amusement when she saw them drenched wet.

After she dismissed them, Blake took Ela to his room and told her to take a shower as he lends his shirt. Of course, Ela being Elektra, declined but Blake took no objection from her. He literally pushed her into her bathroom and gave her his clothes as he went to another bathroom to do the same.

When Ela put on his own black t -shirt, she almost swooned at the addictive scent of him. His shirt smelt like him, all masculine and woodsy. She had to stop herself from becoming a freaky stalker, sniffing on his shirt all the time.

God, I'm turning into a pervert, she groaned.

"Hey, no worries. It's just a t-shirt. Keep it." He smiled.

Her inner mind shouted in glee when she was able to keep it.

Oh dear, definitely turning into a pervert.

"Thank you." She smiled softly. "Maybe you could borrow mine after this."

"Sure...give me a pink dress and a blouse, I'll wear it." He grinned.

She laughed and he joined her. Seeing the happiness in his eyes, Ela couldn't help but to raise her hand and brushed a lock of his dark raven hair. His face softened and his eyes gazed into hers deeply. Her heart skipped a beat looking at those dark brown eyes that she loves so much. The emotions in them make her remember the fact that she indeed does love him.

No more pushing her feelings away. She was in love with her best friend and she accepted it whole heartedly.

Just before he could pull him into a hug, Elektra felt someone’s presence behind her.

"Ela."

She turned and saw Henry's worried face, which got her curious and worried that something had happened.

"Henry." She stepped a few steps away from Blake.

Looking back at Blake's face, she could see the confusion on it. Then she realized that they have met before but Blake didn't know that Henry was her friend. She never been introduced Henry to him before. Though she loved him, she just could not tell him about her true self just yet.

"Umm...Blake this is Henry. A great friend of mine."

Turning her head to Henry who still had the troubled look on his face, she introduced him to Blake.

"Nice to see you again, Blake." Henry gave him a polite smile.

Blake nodded and replied with his own smile. "Nice to see you again too. I didn't know you were friends with Ela." He spoke. Ela cringed as she could hear the suspicion and surprise in his voice.

"Yeah, we go way back." Henry grinned though his eyes were still troubled.

Turning her head to Blake, she gave him a small smile. "Could you give us a sec?"

Blake nodded before she pulled Henry just a few steps away from Blake's hearing.

"What's up?" she asked in worry.

"It's Luke. His pack was under attack. The damage is quite huge." He informed.

A pang of worry filled her heart. She cared about Luke and his pack. They had been nothing but nice to her. She could not imagine them getting hurt.

She turned to look at Blake who was eyeing her curiously from afar. His eyes filled with worry and something else she could not decipher. As much as she does not want to leave him, she had to.

Walking back to Blake, she grabbed his hand and gave it a gentle squeeze.

"What’s wrong?" he asked.

"I have to go..."

"Why-"

She silenced him as she hugged tightly before pulling away with reluctance. "I'm sorry...but I really have to go."

She gave him a loving look before pressing a kiss on his cheek and ran off with Henry at her side leaving a very confused Blake behind.

"My sword?" She asked as she got into Henry's car.

"At the back." he answered.

Henry immediately starts the car and pressed the gas, speeding through the road at the dark night.

-------------------

When they reached the pack house, it was a disaster. There smell of soot filled her nose as burned pack house came into a view. She looked around and saw the pack doctor tending the wounded while others help. Her heart dropped when she saw a dead body lying on the ground. He was placed in a peaceful position, his eyes were closed and hands are clasped together. Sadness washed into her to see the dead man.

"You okay?" Henry asked as he gave her a gentle squeeze on her shoulder.

"I'm okay...but these guys aren’t." Her eyes roamed her surroundings.

Henry gave a small nod before replying. "I'll go help the pack doctor. Will you be okay on your own?"

"Go ahead. I'll be fine"

With that Henry left her but not before giving her a gentle pat on her shoulder. She started to walk around looking for the alpha. In her mind, she wondered how many people died, was the alpha hurt, and could have done such a cruel thing.

Relief washed over her when she saw him sitting on a chair talking to his Beta. His shirt was covered with blood and there was a long nasty cut his arm and a small one above his eyebrow. On his left cheek, there was a dark blue bruise and there was another long cut on his feet.

"Luke." she called out as she made her way to him.

"Protector." He breathed out.

He was surprised when she enveloped him into a tight hug not caring if he was covered in blood.

"You're okay." she sighed.

His lips curved into a soft smile. It was so her to worry about others. They could not ask for a better Protector.

"I'm alright, Ela...though you’re hugging me too tight and it’s hurting me." he chuckled.

Elektra quickly pulled away, a blush of embarrassment evident on her cheek before she lifted her face to look at him. "Where is Lily? Is she okay?" She asked about his wife.

He smiled as he answered. "She's fine. She's at the emergency pack house a few miles from here with the children and women."

"That’s good. Your sons?"

"They're all alright and helping around."

A sigh of relief escaped her lips. "Who did this?" she asked in a strained voice.

Luke's face turned serious, his brow furrowed together. "A group of vampires."

Ela clenched her fists in anger as she could guess who it were. "Was the leader a tall vampire with black hair?"

Surprised, he nodded. “Yes. His name is Vlad. He had two other men with him at that time."

Ela let out a shaky breath, running her hand in her hair. Her body shook in rage.

That bastard.

"Ela." Luke called, placing his hand on her shoulder to calm her.

She met his eyes and saw the worry and seriousness in them and she knew there was more for her to hear.

"My dear Protector, you're in great danger." He spoke.

Confusion filled her. "What?"

Luke took her hand and brought her to sit on the log next to him. She sat there and waited for him to continue anxiously.

"This Vlad guy...he's working for someone...I don't know who it is. He didn't say his name." He whispered, his eyes checking hers before he continued.

"What I do know is that he's been gathering supernatural creatures, asking us to join this force that he's in."

Worry and anxiousness filled in her. How come she didn't notice this? How come she overlooked this?

Understanding what was going on her mind, he answered her. "I didn't know it either, my dear protector. He did a very good job doing it secretly and Vlad is good at keeping his trail. Really good at hiding. None of us knew. My son, Josh, went to talk to the leopard shifters and they didn't know about it either."

Even though Luke had explained it to her, she couldn't help but to feel that she should have noticed it. She was the Protector and it was her duty to keep the mystical and supernatural creatures safe and in balance. However, she overlooked this carelessly and Luke had to pay the price.

"Now my dear, it's not your fault. Please don't think it is." Luke comforted her when he saw the guilty look on her face.

Releasing a shaky sigh, she lifted her brown eyes to him. "But I don't see why I am in danger here..."

Luke paused, taking in a deep breath before he poured it to her. His eyes looking straight into hers.

"They want you dead."

Silence filled the air.

Elektra searched his eyes, looking for any jokes or falsity but his eyes shone truth and only truth. Her stomach churned uncomfortably.

“He asked us to join him but I declined. Our loyalty stays with you.” Luke added. “He didn’t take that kindly and he left us a remainder of not joining him...or in his words ‘gifts’.”

“God...This is really messed up.” She said shakily, running her trembling hand in her hair as he turned away from the alpha.

Luke placed his hand gently on her shoulder. “I promise you Protector that we will not let anything happen to you.” He spoke.

She turned to him and saw the sincerity in his eyes, his other hand placed above his heart, showing her that he made his words a promise that he will keep.

Shaking her head, she voiced out her thoughts. “I am the Protector. I’m the one who should be protecting you.”

Surprising her, Luke stood up and knelt in front of her, his arm resting on his knee. He lifted his head, his lips turning into a soft smile as he met her confused face.

“But in truth, you’re still our queen. King Arthur’s blood runs in you.” He avowed.  He lowered his head, before he continued. “And I vowed to you, that we will protect you.”

Elektra stood there speechless and awed. She was honoured by such devotion coming from the alpha. It made her heart thumped in her chest with bravery and her head cleared from the fog.

She looked down the loyal man and placed her hand on his shoulder. He lifted his face and Luke’s face turned into a smile when he saw the determination in her face, her eyes shining with it.

A face of a true warrior.

“I promise you I will avenge the death of your pack members.” She said to him.

Luke gave her a nod before he stood up, joining her. She felt another person’s presence in the air. She turned to found Henry staring at her with a smile on his face and pride in his eyes.

He made his way to her and stood at her side. “All of them are tended to. Only two dead.” Henry informed her before turning to alpha and gave him a small nod.

Elektra turned her head to Luke. “I promise.” She said, her eyes certitude.

Luke gave her a small smile and nodded. “I trust you, Protector.”

She smiled back at him, words need not to be spoken.

“It’s getting late, Ela. We still have to hunt for zombies.” Henry spoke politely.

She agreed with him before turning back to Luke. “We have to leave. Please take care of yourself and the pack.” She said, concern evident in her tone.

“I will and I will inform you if there’s anything you need to know.” Luke replied.

Elektra gave the man a warm hug before she turned on her heels and walked away.

With his heart roaring with pride and admiration for the Protector, Luke watched her as she left with the vampire at her side, disappearing into the mist. He had no doubt that the Protector will do a great job. He'd put all his money he had on that girl, as he knew she was the revolution. She was the fire.

“Long live the queen.”

********************

A war cry was heard in the silent air. Elektra moved her sword swiftly above her head before turning and plunging her sword into the dead’s heart. She turned a little too late when the other zombie’s hands made its way around her neck, tightened in a death grip. She coughed and tried to pull the dead’s hands away but it only made it tightened its hand around her neck even more.

Putting pressure on her left feet, she jumped and flipped in the air, the zombies twirled with her before it landed on the ground with her foot stepping on its neck. Before the dead even knew it, she brought her sword and cut its head off easily. Droplets of blood clung to her face and she didn’t even bother to wipe it as she jumped off the dead and search for more to kill.

However, when she turned around she saw there was none left. Every each one of them was dead, their dust brought away by the wind.

“Well, that’s a wrap.” Henry chimed in as he made his way to her side.

“If I were killing a mummy, that would be a good joke.” Ela noted.

Henry rolled his eyes at his companion. “Leave it to you to think of a bad joke.”

“Hey!” She feigned hurt.

Henry chuckled as he wiped the blood off her face with his sleeves. “Come on. Let’s go home. It’s been a tiring night.” He implied.

Elektra nodded while she wiped the blood on the sword on her dark jeans. She couldn’t agree more with him. She really needs a good night sleep.

Just when they were about to leave, the sound of a chainsaw made them stopped on their tracks.

Her heart dropped and her stomach churned uncomfortably as she could sense that there was someone or something around them.

“Maybe it’s just a lumberjack.” Henry spoke, but she could hear the uncertainty in his voice.

The sound of the chain saw was getting nearer. Both of them turned around to look at the dark forest just behind the graveyard.

“Please don’t tell me what I think it is.” Ela breathed out.

“What? What is it?” Henry asked anxiously.

“That.” Ela lifted her face to the forest.

Henry turned and what he saw was beyond imagination.

“Hell no.”

In front of them was a zombie with a broken neck and bloody eyes. That was not the reason they were shocked though. It was the fact that the dead was holding a chainsaw in its hand, which blew their minds.

“No freaking way.” Elektra emphasized with every word.

“I’m not sure whether we’re in a horror movie or a video game.” Henry muttered.

“Now’s not such a good time, is it?” She replied.

The dead came close to them, pointing the chainsaw towards them. Henry rolled out of the way, to avoiding it.

“Watch out.” He yelled, as the dead turned and swung the chainsaw towards Elektra’s neck.

Ela bent her body, avoiding the blade as she slowly stepped back from the zombie. “Whoa, didn’t your parents tell you not to play with a chainsaw?”

The dead only grunt in response, aiming the chainsaw vigorously at the Protector. Ela did her best to avoid it.

“Henry, a little help here!” She yelled, as she tried to kick the zombie, bringing it down to the ground but it was hard since the chainsaw was at her way.

“On it.” Henry took a rock from the ground and threw it as it hits the dead’s head.

The dead turned his attention to Henry immediately, walking towards him with the deadly chainsaw. Elektra took this huge opportunity and swung her sword through the dead’s neck. Blood sprayed everywhere as the dead struggled to stay alive, slowly falling to the ground turning into a pile of dust, leaving the chainsaw on the ground.

“What the hell was that?” Elektra panted.

Henry shook his head, looking at the chainsaw on the ground. “I have no idea. Since when do zombies carry chainsaws?” He asked.

“I don’t know...but something tells me this is the work of Vlad.” She replied. “And this is just the start.”
