Cinderella, The Monster Slayer

Thank you for reading this humble story of mine and I sincerely apoplogize for the grammar mistakes and errors. NOT EDITED. So sorry. I love you guys. Thanks :)

*********************************************

The sound of Elektra’s sneeze filled her small, not completely messy room. Henry chuckled at her, handing her the tissue box.

“Well, will you look at this? The Protector, the one who kills zombies, werewolves and monsters, has actually caught a cold.” He teased.

Ela rolled her eyes but not before glaring at him.

“Jerk.” She muttered. Henry laughed in response, which got her more annoyed than ever.

After the amazing night she had with Blake last night, she seemed to catch a cold. Blake did offer her to change her clothes, borrowing his before she went home, but like the idiot she was, she turn down the offer. She knew if Blake lent her his clothes, she would go mad. His scent would drive her to insanity and she couldn’t handle it. She had so much of him that night and she didn’t want to let herself into it more. She knew she should stop right at that moment but somehow, deep in her heart she knew she couldn’t.

She didn’t go to school today due to her cold and surprisingly, her stepmother let her off from work, but of course she wouldn’t get paid for today. However, it was still surprising that she had actually let her have a day off.

“Screw you, you old vamp.” She barked, wiping her nose furiously.

Henry patted her head and smiled. “I may be old but ladies want me.” He grinned.

Ela shook her head at him and threw him a look to stop it. Henry threw his hands up in surrender as he took a seat on her bed, next to her.

“How are you feeling?” He asked.

“Like crap.”

“I’m sorry for asking then.” He chuckled. “Seriously, are you alright, though?” He questioned, his face covered with concern.

Ela smiled at him, loving his concern. “I am fine, Henry. Don’t worry too much.”

He smiled, tucking a loose strand of her dark brown hair in her ear. She took his hand and held it tightly. “Can you help me?”

“Anything, little one.”

“Keep an eye on Darcy. I can’t play with her today. I don’t want her to get sick as well. Make sure those witches don’t come near her.” She said.

Henry nodded, standing up from the bed. “I will. Now, get some rest.” He placed a tender kiss on her head.

He headed to the door and before he exited, he turned to her. “And no hunting tonight, Ela.”

“No, I will go hunting tonight.”

“Don’t argue with me, young lady. You’re sick. You’re not up to hunting tonight.” He scolded.

Elektra groaned as she replied, “But Henry...”

Henry held up is hand to stop her from talking which she did. He gave her a stern look, which told her that they were no way she was going to hunt tonight.

“No buts, Ela. I mean it. You will not go hunting tonight. I will go there and dispose the zombies and you are to stay in bed, do you understand?” He spoke.

After a few seconds of glaring at each other, she let out a sigh of defeat. “Fine.” She grunted.

A satisfied smile appeared on his face as he turned the doorknob. “Good girl. Now, I’ll be going ‘because you have a visitor on your way.” He said as he exited the room leaving Elektra curious and questions unanswered.

A few seconds later, she heard the doorbell rang. Her eyebrows furrowed together, wondering who was at door. She could hear people talking, almost too excitedly. She tried to make out the words but she couldn’t hear the conversation that was going on down below but she could hear a loud squeal.

She let out a grunt of dissatisfaction due to not knowing what was going on. The voice died down a few seconds later. She then heard footsteps going up the stairs. It neared to her room and stopped in front of her door. Her feet scrambled as she grabbed her blanket and pulled it closer to her chest.

There was a knock on the door and she answered it , her voice slightly raspy due to the cold. When the door opened and a head popped out into her view, her heart flipped.

“Hey, can I come in?” Blake asked with a sweet innocent smile on his face.

She was speechless as she just stared at his attractive face. He was here, in her house.

“Ela? Can I come in? I mean if you don’t want me to, I won’t.” He said.

Elektra shook her head before clearing her throat as she answered him. “No, no. Come in.”

He beamed his breathtaking smile at her as he happily entered her room, closing the door before he made his way to her, sitting on the edge of the bed, next to her.

“Hey.” He waved a single wave at her.

“Hey.” She answered breathlessly. What the hell is the matter with her when he was around? It was as if she lost her breath.

“You weren’t at school today. Chelsea told me you’re sick.” He said.

Of course, her matchmaker friend had something to do with him here. She smiled and shook her head at her friend. She sure knew how to make it happen.

“Yeah. I caught the cold.”

“Well, I can see that.” He pointed out. It suddenly made her self-conscious of herself. She knew she looked horrible. Her hair was out of place, her nose was red, and her eyes were teary.

Realizing that he had made her uncomfortable, he quickly grabbed her hand and looked at her in the eyes.

“Yet, you’re still beautiful.” He spoke softly. He did mean it. Even though her nose was red, her hair was all over the place, she still looked amazing and still manage to make his heart go crazy.

Elektra was sure she was blushing and was glad that her rosy cheeks from the cold didn’t make it so noticeable.

“Very flattering, Blake.” She answered.

“Well, you know me, the charmer.” He smirked. “Anyway, I brought you homework.” He added.

“Wow, the infamous Blake Conrad who could care less about homework actually brought me my homework. You’re just simply torturing me, aren’t you?” She chuckled.

“Well, knowing you, I know you would like your homework to be done. So, being the gentleman I am, I brought them here for you.” He replied.

“Are you sure you’re not here simply just to see me?” She teased.

He didn’t answer immediately as he only stared into her sunset eyes. “Maybe.”

She smiled and he chuckled, their hands still entwined tightly.

The laughter died down as he stared into her eyes once more, looking at her with concern. “Are you okay, though?” He asked.

She smiled lovingly, her free hand involuntary reached up and caressed his cheek, making the frown on his face disappear. “I’m fine.”

She soon noticed what she was doing and she quickly pulled her hand away not noticing the hurt that flashed in his eyes. She sensed the tension between them and quickly spoke to erase it.

“Well, if it’s not for a certain someone, I wouldn’t catch a cold.” She glared playfully at him.

He chuckled, hiding the pain in his chest as he answered, “Hey, I asked you to change into my clothes but you didn’t want to. Leave this innocent man out of it.”

“Innocent, my ass. You’re the one who got me wet.” She snorted.

“Well, I love making the ladies wet.” He said, wiggling his eyebrows at her.

She burst into laughter at his pick up line. They were truly ridiculous and it made her laugh like crazy. “Oh god, that was so bad.”

“Hey, the ladies love it.”He shrugged but there was a smile on his face. “So, since you’re sick, we’re going to do the project here.” He said as he settled his bag on the floor.

Ela groaned as she flunked her head on the pillow. “Really? Now? Can’t you let this poor girl a rest?”

“Hey, you’re the one who wanted to ace it.” He grinned, loving her displeasure.

“Oh, come on, Blake... Give me a break.” She grunted. “Fine, let’s do it now so we can get this over with.” She started to get out of her covers.

He chuckled before taking off his black leather jacket and his shoes, surprising her. “Ela, I’m only joking. I won’t torture you when you sick. Other times, maybe I will.”

She rolled her eyes and it earned another chuckle from him. His long legs went up on her bed as he crawled towards the pillow. This, of course, brought Ela to panic.

“What are you doing?” She asked, her voice sounded frantic.

“Well, since we’re not able to do our project, I guess I’ll just lay here and keep you comfort.” He got under the covers as he leaned back on the bed’s small headboard.

“Blake...” She started to argue but he silenced her as he placed a finger on her lips.

“Hey, I won’t try anything on you, alright? I promise. I just want to comfort you...and if you don’t want me here, just tell me so and I’ll leave.” He spoke. “Besides, it’s my fault you got sick. Let me comfort you for a while.”

She stared into his eyes and saw the sincerity in it. She knew he would never do anything she didn’t want to. Truthfully, she was just afraid that she would feel more for him. However, she didn’t want him to leave, she wanted him to be next to her. As much as she doesn’t want to build more feelings for him, she badly didn’t want him to leave.

“Stay.” It was all she said and it was all that Blake needed to hear.

He smiled as he brought her head to rest on his stomach. She rested her head and snuggled closely to him. His scent filled her nostrils and she closed her eyes feeling complete bliss.

“If you get sick as well, don’t blame it on me.” She said.

“I won’t.” He chuckled. “Get some rest.” He whispered, placing a light kiss on her temple before stroking her hair as she slowly fell into a deep slumber.

*************************

The sound of the phone ringing woke her up from her deep sleep. She groaned, hating the ringing phone for disturbing the most comfortable sleep she ever had since her father went missing. She then realized that she wasn’t alone. Her body was snuggled up close to Blake who had his arms around her waist, the other one behind her head, holding her close to his chest. Her face went red  realizing his body was so close to hers.

“Yeah?” Blake answered the phone.

His voice was deep and husky as he was just awakened from his sleep as well. It stirred her stomach and made her swallow a lump in her throat.

Oh dear, he sounded so sexy.

“Crap.” Blake cursed. “I’ll be there soon.” He said before he hung up, scattering up on his feet.

“Blake?” She called as she sat up on the bed.

Realizing that he had woke her up, he cursed himself again. “Sorry I woke you up. I have a meeting in a few minutes and I completely forgotten about it.” He spoke as he put on his shoes.

“Oh,” was all she could say.

Blake lifted his head up and gave her a small smile. “I know...I’m sorry but I really have to go.” He spoke as he put on his jacket. He made his way to her and placed a lingering kiss on her forehead.

“I’ll see you soon, I promise.” He whispered.

He exited the room but not before turning around, giving Ela a smile. When he was no longer in sight, she fell back to the bed and buried her face into her pillow. She smiled silently, loving that it smelt like him.

Oh dear, what has she gotten herself into?

**********

Ela put down her book on her lap as she turned her head to the clock. It was almost twelve o’clock in the morning and that means Henry was already out hunting. She let out a sigh, worrying about Henry even though she knew he would do just fine. It was rare for her not to go hunting with him and it felt weird.

Her thoughts disappeared when she heard a knock on her bedroom window. Her eyebrows furrowed in wonder, wondering who it was. It couldn’t have been Henry since he always knew how to get into the house.

She carefully made her way to the window, which was located next to her bed. She cautiously opened the curtains, making sure she was ready for whatever she’s going to receive.

A gasp left her mouth when she saw Blake kneeling on the branch of the oak tree next to her house. The tree was huge and the branch went all the way to her window, which made him able to reach her room easily. He was holding on to one of the branch to make sure he wouldn’t fall as he sheepishly smiled at her.

“Are you freaking nuts?!” She yelled in a whisper. “What are you doing here?”

“Could you let me in first...I don’t think this branch is strong enough to support me.” He answered with a shaky voice.

She grabbed his arm hastily and pulled him to her room. Blake who was not expecting for her to be that strong stumbled into her room and ended up wrapping his arms around her for balance.

Ela felt heat rose up to her face at their closeness. She could feel his well build torso with her hands that were placed on top of his chest. Her eyes shyly met his happy ones, which made her roll her eyes in return before stepping away from him.

“What are you doing here?” She asked, taking a seat on her bed.

“I told you I’d see you soon, didn’t I? I promised.” He grinned as he sat next to her.

Ela could only smile like an idiot, happy that he came back. It was sweet what he did and mentioned that he promised and kept it. He was crawling his way into her heart and she knew she couldn’t stop him. He was just extraordinary.

“You...are an idiot.” She pointed out, flicking his forehead.

“A brilliant idiot as a matter of fact.” He chuckled. “Anyway....”He spoke as he rummaged through his bag. “I noticed that you didn’t really eat today, so I brought you food.” He took out two polystyrene containers with a small smile on his face.

“You’re too sweet.” She answered, pinching his cheek playfully before making her way up on her bed and let him lay down next to her.

“Pasta?” She questioned as she opened the container filled with cream sauce pasta.

“The very one.” He replied, handing her a plastic fork.

She smiled at him, simply happy because of him. Everything he did make her happy, even his presence made her ecstatic. She couldn’t think of a time where she was this happy and touched and Blake was able to do that to her in a nick of time.

Slowly leaning forward to him, she pressed her lips gently on his cheek before pulling back with a grateful smile on her face.

“Thank you.” She said softly before she dug her fork into the pasta.

She did not notice Blake who was beaming with happiness, a soft smile on his face due to the kiss he received from her. Even though it was just a chaste kiss on the cheek, it still meant something. He just hoped that she was falling for him as he was falling for her hard. He couldn’t stop himself from falling for her. He tried before but soon, he stopped resisting since he knew that there was just something different and special about her, he just couldn’t get her out of his mind. He needed her.

While they ate, they fooled around, teasing each other. Blake threw a few pickup lines at her, which made her laugh. She hoped that she didn’t laugh too loud. She didn’t want to wake stepmother and stepsisters up. That would be a disaster.

A few hours later, where Blake was reading her a book that he had taken from his house, she saw a glimpse of Henry at the window. He knew she saw her, thus, he gave her a smile and a thumbs up. He appeared fine and that made her heart filled with relief. However, there was a look on his face that told her there was something going on. She wanted to talk to him but she didn’t and couldn’t leave Blake. So, she decided that it could wait for tomorrow.

When Blake was tired and they both were done with reading, they both lied down on the single bed with their bodies and faces facing each other. Since the bed was small, their foreheads were touching and their bodies were closed to each other. Elektra blushed a few times thinking about how close they were and how gorgeous those coffee brown eyes were but nevertheless, she was comfortable.

“Hey, have you ever thought about just leaving everything and run away sometimes?” Blake asked unexpectedly.

Ela frowned as she thought about it before she answered his question. “Sometimes.”

She did want to run away sometimes, from her duty, from her stepmother and sisters. She wanted to feel free, bring Darcy with her, and actually enjoy life.

“Why? Is something wrong?” She asked him, her face etched with worry.

Blake smiled before he answered her, “Not really...I don’t know. I just wish I could be who I really am like when I’m with you...than living to people’s expectations.” He pushed his fingers though his hair, looking so frustrated. It was adorable though.

“Well,” Elektra chuckled. “You don’t have to hide yourself when you’re with me. You can always be you, you know.” She said. “People sometimes expect big things from us but all you could do is to try your best even though the road is tough...but they need to understand that you’re only human and you have a life too.”

“Well, dad doesn’t think that way.” He snorted.

“Did you talk to him?”

“I d-tried...but he wouldn’t listen.” He sighed, pushing his fingers into his hair again. “I really don’t know what to do anymore.”

Ela felt bad for him on his situation. She knew the story of his strict father who wanted Blake take over the company. Blake didn’t want to. He preferred to do something else than managing the family’s business but he did not get a say in it. She wished she could make it better and hoped that his dad will reconsider this and see how miserable his son will be if he takes over the company.

Gently, she grabbed his hand and squeezed it. He looked at her and their eyes met each other’s. “Hey, whatever happens, I’ll always be here when you need someone, okay?” She whispered.

Blake smiled in returned, squeezing her hand gently before replying, “I know you will.”

***************

Elektra woke up with a smile on her face the next day. She had recovered from her cold and she felt good. She was happy due to Blake. He made her incredibly happy yesterday. He had gone home a little after three o’clock in the morning but not before giving her a lingering kiss on the forehead. He had done it quite often now since their incident in the garden but she was not complaining about it. She loved it, in fact.

The day went on normally, she went to school, work at the daycare and did the history project with Blake at a small cafe. Due to her being sick yesterday, she had to work extra hour. So, they couldn’t go to his house since it was already late and decided to have dinner in a cafe near the daycare and did small progress on their project.

She was gearing up for her hunt when Henry appeared next to her. She placed the sword in its sheath before turning to meet his face.

“What’s the problem, Henry?” She asked.

“Well, look at you. Not bothering to say hello to your old chap.” Henry teased.

Ela rolled her eyes at him before replying, “Hello, old chap. Now, tell me what’s wrong?”

All jokes were put aside as his face turned serious. “I noticed something yesterday.”

“Okay...”

“The zombies, they’re getting stronger.” He stated.

Surprise filled into her. “What?”

Henry nodded in conformation of his words earlier. “They are getting stronger. I was fighting them and they managed to block out and escape a few of my attacks...not to mention their attacks were getting stronger.”

“Okay...something’s really not right here...” Zombies were the weakest in the group of monsters even though their numbers were larger than others were. It’s easy to exterminate them than other monsters. They were never much of a threat except for their large numbers.

“To make it even weirder, their numbers decreased. The last hunt, there were only seventeen while this time, they were only ten of them.” Henry informed.

Ela felt her stomach churned as uneasiness filled her. “Okay, something’s seriously up here. We need to find this out as soon as possible.” She told.

Henry nodded in return. “I will ask around and keep you posted.” He replied. “And...there was something else. After the zombie hunting, I heard something coming from the forest. So, I ran there and they were dead bodies.”

“Human dead bodies?” She asked, raising her eyebrow in question.

“Yup...and they were bitten...by vampires. I also checked their backgrounds...they were normal innocent people, Ela.” Henry spoke with anger in his voice. Henry hated it when his kind attacks innocent people. It made him raged with fire and lusting to kill. “I tried to track them down but I failed to find them.”

Shock filled her again. It had been a while since vampires attack innocent humans. Usually, vampires would feed on animal blood or from the blood bank. There were other cases where there are human volunteers who willingly gave their blood to them as the vampire feed on them. Other than that, vampires would hunt and feed on criminals, never on innocent people.

“They’re either rogues or they’re seriously looking for some trouble.” She spoke through her gritted teeth. Clenching her hands together, she raised her head and focused on Henry’s eyes.

“We’ll hunt for them tonight. They’ll be freaking sorry to kill those humans and to mess with me.”
