Chapter Nine

Aric

I was happy that Uriel was finally back because I was tired of listening to Sly and Rascal trying to be funny or trying to sing with those cold voices. I saw that Uriel seemed to give me space like he was afraid I'd hurt him which I would but I can't do it.

"Took you long enough." I said as I folded my hands.

"I had to deal with something." He replied as he stayed close to the shadows.

"Then you won't mind me asking what you did to me?"

"Nothing."

"I'm not a child who can be fooled from little jokes."

"If it's about the spell see it as a security checkmate." He replied then he came out of the shadows.

"Well you do know one of these days my father will find you."

"Till then I'll enjoy what little life I have left." He replied then he swam pass me.

I followed him to a room where he had done that spell that turned me human. I saw him arrange his new stash with Rascal and Sly and then just watched from the distance.

"Uriel is handsome." I thought as I admired his biceps that flexed when he moved. Uriel seemed to notice me staring at him and then smirked before he continued what he was doing.

I was lost in thoughts of Uriel that I didn't know he was calling me till I felt one of his tentacles on my hand startling me as I blinked rapidly.

"My little mate where was your mind off to?" He asked as he gave me that flirty look.

"No-no where." I stammered as I felt my cheeks flush. Uriel smiled and then he came towards me.

"Come mate I want to show you something." He said as he offered his hand to me.

"I told you I'm not your mate."

"OK I understand." He said then raised his brows before I accepted his hand.

He led me to a part not so far from the portion room. It was dark till he went up to remove the object covering the source of light. When he did I was marveled by what he had in the room.

There were a lot of human gizmos that I excitedly swam and started to touch and look at them. I knew some of these stuffs name like the clock, plates, gold, lantern and etcetera. It was so amazing to see he had a lot of things than the ones I collected. I paused when I noticed his style of arrangement was so similar to how I arranged mine. I looked at him as he stared on a pocket watch.

"This is really wonderful." I complimented it then he looked at me and nodded.

"But?" It was like he knew me.

"This arrangement is too familiar. How long have you been observing me?"

He stared at me then he closed his eyes and then opened it and then sighed.

"Since you were born." He responded surprising me.

"Since I was born?" He nodded to my disbelief.

"I knew you were my mate before Athena conceived you." He replied then I looked around.

If he knew we were mates since then why didn't he come around? Why was my father so against him?

"This is really beautiful but it's not like mine. It's incomplete." I said as I remembered something important.

"What should I do to make it complete?"

"Well my former treasure store had my mother's music shell. That is the only thing that I have of my mother. The only song I can remember from the short time we spent together." I said then my eyes turned sad.

"It's OK." Uriel tried to comfort me.

Uriel later left me alone in the room as I took my time playing around with the things I could find. I had fun tinkering with things but then at some point I suddenly missed home. I missed my father, my sisters, Sebastian, Flower and all my friends.

For the first time, I wished to be nagged about my careless nature by Sebastian and father or being told what to do by Attina. I could wish for all this but I had made a deal with Uriel for the life of my family and Eric.

I now felt sad thinking of Eric. I never got to tell him how much I loved him or got to tell him I was a merman in the right conditions. I wonder how it was up in the human world and I'm sure that Uriel would never let me leave this place especially with the spell he casted on me.

I decided that instead of fighting with Uriel, I should get to know him better maybe he isn't as evil as he exhibited to get me here. I hope. After all if he hadn't attacked me yet or done anything to harm me that means he can't all be bad. Can he?

Uriel

I saw how sad my mate was when he had talked about a music shell that Athena had gotten from Triton as a gift. I knew how attached my mate was to that shell since he never got to know his mother as well as his sisters. I decided that if that's the only thing to get us on friendly terms then I was willing to take the risk and go to retrieve it.

I had to be careful because the place where my mate's treasures were, was so close to Atlantica and Triton would have a lot of guards around the ocean to capture me in first sight. I didn't care so far as I could please my mate.

I left the cave with Sly because just as his name, he was intelligent enough get me close to what I desired. After all he was the one that led my mate to me that made me coup up the whole scheme I used to get him. We were swimming in the shadows away from the sight of the few guards we spotted.

I was glad things were going smooth especially since no one had seen me yet. I finally arrived close to the cave where my mate's treasures were. I still remembered where he kept the music shell and then swam to it.

It was truly beautiful. It was blue and green with a few gold carvings on it. I opened it and magically a gold dust formed in the shape of Athena and Triton had been formed as the music started and they danced. I smiled remembering how much my mate would dance, laugh and smile whenever he heard the music. This was truly his favorite song that he had deep in his heart.

I took the music shell and then decided to swim off. I was so happy that I wasn't careful making the little fish that followed my mate to spot me. She and that crab Sebastian, called the guards attention.

I started to swim as fast as I could but then they were fast trying to gain on me. I then used my tentacles and took pieces of rocks and threw at them quickly. It didn't slow them down and I wasn't planning on using the big guns yet.

I swam to a side in the ocean that had predators, unstable waters and a very comfy darkness I could blend in. They saw where I was going and decided to stop but I knew they would wait patiently for me. When I was deep in the darkness, I had Sly slither around me before I poofed us out of that location to the front of the barrier I set to my cave.

It was my only security of making sure that no creature that knew of Aric's disappearance would have Triton know since I was so nice to return his magic fork. I then entered to see my mate reading something on the rocks of the first entrance.

He turned to face me then paused his activity as Sly passed me to his twin Rascal. They gave us privacy as I nervously swam to my mate who watched me with curiosity.

"I have something for you." I said then I brought out the magic shell from behind me making my beautiful mate to stare at the shell.

He looked up at me then at the shell then at me. I was getting nervous that I might have done something wrong till he hugged me with all his might.

"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! You have no idea how important this thing is to me." He said excited as he kept on hugging me.

I was overjoyed. I didn't know whether I should hug him back or just stay still. I was about to hug him back when he pulled back with a slightly colored cheek.

"Sorry I got carried away." He said finally but I didn't mind.

My mate looked beautiful when he was blushing. I knew that our connection would make him be soft around me even though it hadn't started affecting him greatly to think of mating which was the final step. He opened the music shell which started playing the song which he sang along with and then started dancing to.

His moves were very amateur but had a graceful nature along with that his beautiful voice that could enchant its listener.

"Join me." He requested as he stretched his hand towards me but I wanted to admire my mate.

I shook my head forgetting how persistent my mate was who dragged me to him and we started to dance. He was laughing and smiling at my nervous moves but all the same he was having fun. I was glad that I could please him in many ways and I hoped that this wouldn't be the last I could see him radiate that beautiful smile.
