Chapter 3
How to Run Away from Obsessed Men
Episode 3
The next morning.
Kenyan visited Lindseyâs room.
He looked at Lindsey as if something was bothering him.
âWhatâs the matter?!â
âWhat?!â
Kenyan looked at Lindsey with a strange expression.
Lindseyâs tone felt different than usual.
âYou came here for a reason, didnât you?!â
âI was going to tell you not to leave the room today.â
âDonât leave the room?â
âYeah. Transcendents from other clans will visit.â
ââ¦.â
âOthers will feel discomfort just by seeing you, so stay in your room.â
ââ¦.â
âYou might bother the servants again, right?â
Kenyan kept an indifferent expression while saying so.
His gaze wandered around Lindseyâs room. In the luxurious room, Kenyan smirked.
âYouâre enjoying your privileges.â
With that, Kenyan turned his gaze away from Lindsey.
As if he disliked even talking to Lindsey. Kenyan despised Lindsey more than anyone else.
âThinking I indulge in luxury with half-hearted privileges.â
Lindsey Kesion wasnât a perfect noble. Her mother was a commoner. The reason Lindsey could be recognized as a nobleâs person was her talent to become a priestess.
But now that sheâs revealed to not be a priestess anymore, it wasnât certain if she could maintain that position.
Thatâs not all.
Due to Sylviaâs schemes, Kenyan thought Lindsey was bothering the servants while indulging in luxury.
âAfter people from other clans leave, return to being a noble. Even giving you attention has its limits.â
âI was already thinking about that.â
âWhat?â
Kenyan let out an incredulous laugh.
âYouâre leaving?
Do you really have a place to go?â
His thoughts were obvious.
There were actions he took to avoid leaving the Radian Dukedom. But Lindsey had already planned to leave, even without Kenyan saying it.
âI have to return to the Kesion Dukedom.â
She didnât want to go back to that hellish place, but she had no choice. Lindsey recalled the special restriction in the Kesion Dukedom.
The Kesion family register.
Where the names of those born in the Kesion Dukedom were written.
âI have to erase my name from the register. If I donât, my father wonât let me go for the rest of my life.â
It felt daunting, but there had to be a way.
âI have to find a way to escape and return to Korea, no matter what.â
Thatâs when Kenyan shouted at Lindsey with an irritated voice.
âLindsey Kesion! Canât you hear me?â
Her deeply buried thoughts were interrupted.
Feeling a strong pressure on her wrist, Lindsey snapped out of it.
Kenyan was holding her wrist.
His face, which had been displaying anger, turned strange.
He started staring intently at Lindseyâs thin wrist that he was holding. Such a look from Kenyan seemed absent-minded.
Lindseyâs face contorted.
âCome to think of it, he was also a transcendent.â
She hadnât been able to control her sacred power since she just woke up.
Lindsey brushed off Kenyanâs hand, and it fell weakly.
There was no way a transcendent like Kenyan would be overwhelmed by her strength, so it was purely his choice to let go.
Even in that moment, Kenyanâs gaze didnât leave Lindsey.
Kenyan looked down at his own hand that had been holding Lindseyâs wrist.
Then he looked back at Lindseyâs face. He felt a strange sensation.
âWhatâs going on?â
Why am I feeling like this?
The moment he grabbed Lindseyâs wrist,
Kenyan felt a peculiar sensation.
It was a sensation he had never experienced before.
As a transcendent, he had lived a life of suffering. People called the power of the goddess a blessing, but transcendent individuals with that power didnât think so.
An inexplicable thirst caused by the power of the goddess.
Although weaker transcendent individuals felt differently, at least he, a high-ranking noble, had been born with strong power from the goddess.
He possessed such strong abilities, yet he had never harbored resentment.
That thirstâ¦
A sense of emptiness that seemed never to be filled. Those who hadnât experienced it couldnât understand.
âBut⦠whatâs this?â
When Kenyan made contact with Lindsey, for just a moment, his head cleared.
No, it wasnât just his head clearing. A tingling sensation rose from his toes.
However, that strange feeling disappeared the moment Lindsey slapped his hand away. He wanted to feel more.
Unintentionally, Kenyan was taken aback by his own thoughts.
âMove your hand.â
Lindseyâs eyes turned fierce.
Normally, Kenyan would have retorted, telling her not to talk nonsense. âI donât want to touch someone like you.â But no words came out of his mouth.
Kenyan Radian, wake up.
That woman is Lindsey Kesion.
She was the woman who dared to deceive Azeth and betray the Radian family. Kenyan managed to speak up.
âIt seems youâve become short of words?â
âWhy should I use honorifics when you donât respect me?â@@novelbin@@
As Lindsey replied, Kenyan approached her threateningly.
âI should have sent her away earlier. I shouldnât have cared whether she lived or died outside.â
It was too late to regret now.
Even under his threat, Lindsey didnât back down. Kenyanâs eyes grew ominous.
There was a dangerous atmosphere as if he would strike her at any moment. Lindsey maintained her composure.
Kenyanâs energy seemed ready to explode, fierce and wild.
âDo you really think you can act like this, believing in Azeth?â
ââ¦â
âIâve said it before, but Azeth doesnât care about you. If you want to leave our familyâs estate with dignity, you should behave properly.â
His words were true.
Azeth had even ignored when Lindsey was harassed by the servants of the Radian Dukedom.
She remembered what he said when she went to Azeth about Sylviaâs harassment.
âI hope you donât cause any trouble.â
So, it was clear that Azeth wouldnât care if his own brother harassed her.
It was familiar.
She didnât feel hurt by this fact as if she hadnât realized it before.
âYou donât need to worry about whether I can leave the mansion safely.â
âWhat?â
âDonât pay attention to me. You donât care whether I live or die, right?â
Lindsey said with a smile.
As she had come this far, she was not afraid of anything.
âIf you want to hit, then hit.â
Being in a battlefield where monsters lurked was less frightening than facing Kenyanâs threats.
Just as Kenyan, unable to contain his anger, was about to push her,
âStop it, Kenyan.â
A calm voice was heard.
Lindsey froze in place.
Lindsey knew the owner of that voice.
Azeth Radian.
The man who used to be her fiancé.
âThe other transcendent beings have arrived now. I donât have time to deal with that woman.â
Well, thatâs that.
Since she hadnât had any expectations, there was no disappointment either.
Azeth and Lindseyâs eyes met. His gaze passed over Lindsey. It was truly a gaze that saw her as something worthless.
Every time she received his gaze, Lindsey felt like a pebble lying on the roadside.
Indeed, to Azeth, her existence might as well be no different from a pebble.
âLindsey, my dear.â
ââ¦â
âDonât be rude to Kenyan.â
âHuh!â
Lindsey burst out laughing sarcastically.
âShouldnât you be saying that to Master Kenyan?â
Azeth brushed his head as if he found her annoying. It was what he did every time he looked at Lindsey.
âThatâs all I can do for you.â
Azeth Radian was a cold person. His words always made Lindsey freeze.
âYes, thatâs what these people are like.â
Even after becoming Han Ji-yoo, Lindsey had imagined.
If I died there⦠Would Azeth have felt even a little sad? But now she could be sure.
He wouldnât have felt sad at all.
He probably would have just gone about his ordinary life the next day.
In fact, he might have been relieved to have gotten rid of his useless fiancée.
When she became Han Ji-yoo, Lindsey had tried to understand him.
There were times when she even thought of forgiving him when she saw how hard the espers were struggling.
Maybe he had been struggling too. She had thought there must be a reason.
Before leaving the Radian Dukedom, Lindsey had something she had to say.
She looked straight at Azeth and spoke.
âDo you know, Azeth? Iâve never indulged once, never harassed any servants.â
Azeth didnât respond to her words. He just looked at her as if he couldnât hear anything.
Kenyan was the same.
A scolding look as if asking if she was going to start talking nonsense again. Lindsey continued.
âYouâll regret it.â
âRegret?â
âYes, you will regret it someday.â
For treating me like this.
With a confident tone, Lindseyâs words were full of conviction. Azeth responded with a sarcastic smile.
His appearance was so handsome that it was almost blinding.
Regret?
Azeth found Lindseyâs words amusing. He had never experienced regret. And especially now, if Lindsey Kesion was the one saying he would regret it, it was even more amusing.
âAnnoying and bothersome.â
He was absolutely sure he would never regret it.
No, would there even be anything to regret in the first place?
Lindseyâs words didnât evoke any emotions in him. So he could confidently say,
âUnfortunately, it seems unlikely.â
