Chapter 21

Part 21

Night Changes (Macolet au)

Colet sat quietly, watching Maloi respond to Sheena's message, but her mind was busy piecing together the puzzle. She'd been connecting the dots for some time now.

Sheena... the same Sheena Maloi spoke about, her friend, was the girlfriend of Gwen. And Gwen... Colet's best friend. It didn't take long for Colet to realize the situation—Maloi, her girlfriend, was part of the same circle as Sheena, who was Gwen's partner. And now, Maloi was about to introduce her to everyone, not knowing that the connections were much closer than she could have anticipated.

A small, amused smile tugged at the corner of Colet's lips as she thought about it. She knew her friends well, and she could only imagine how awkwardly perfect this meeting would be. What were the chances that both Maloi and Sheena would be so intertwined in their separate lives without realizing the connections?

She remained silent for a moment, letting the realization settle in her mind. She'd heard Gwen mention Sheena before, but never in the context that connected her to Maloi. Now it all made sense. It wasn't just a coincidence that Gwen had been so supportive of Maloi's career. She and Sheena had been in the same circle, and Colet had unknowingly circled around the edges of the same social group.

But Colet didn't say anything to Maloi yet. She wanted to see how the weekend would unfold first. There was no rush in sharing this connection, especially since Maloi seemed excited to introduce her to her friends without knowing the deeper connections already at play.

"I'm looking forward to it," Colet said with a soft smile, her gaze fond as she looked at Maloi. "Meeting everyone will be a nice change of pace. And I can't wait to spend more time with you and your friends."

Maloi smiled back, grateful for Colet's understanding. She had no idea that Colet had already figured everything out. And for now, she was just focused on the excitement of the weekend ahead, unaware that it would bring even more connections—and surprises—into her life.

------------

As Sheena and Gwen sat together in the living room, finalizing the details of the weekend getaway, Gwen's mind was working overtime. Sheena had just mentioned that Maloi's girlfriend, Colet, was coming along, and as soon as the words left Sheena's lips, something clicked in Gwen's mind.

Gwen took a deep breath, the realization dawning on her as she leaned back in her seat. The connections had been there, but it hadn't occurred to her until now that Colet—Maloi's girlfriend—was actually someone she had been friends with for so long. She'd heard so much about Maloi's girlfriend from their conversations, but never had she imagined that Colet was the same woman who was part of her own close circle of friends.

"Wow, that's... that's wild," Gwen murmured with a grin, her voice full of surprise. "It's kind of crazy how all of our lives overlap like that. It's like the universe wanted us to cross paths even before we knew it."

Sheena couldn't help but laugh. "I know, right? The whole situation just feels like one big coincidence. Who would've thought that Maloi's girlfriend would end up being Colet of all people?"

Gwen nodded, still processing everything. She was now connecting every moment of her past interactions with Colet, slowly realizing that the two women had been orbiting the same social circles for so long.

"But I guess it makes sense," Gwen said with a smile, shaking her head in amusement. "It's nice, though. I think it's going to be a lot of fun when we all finally meet up. It'll be like one big family reunion, just... with a lot more surprises."

"Definitely," Sheena agreed, her voice soft but excited. "I'm sure everyone will get along just fine. They'll love Colet."

Gwen smiled knowingly, her heart warmed by the idea of seeing all her closest friends together—especially now that she realized how intertwined their lives were in unexpected ways.

"I'm just glad we're all finally going to be together," Gwen said. "It'll be a good weekend. A lot of laughs, good vibes, and a lot of catching up. And hey, if you and Maloi keep surprising us with these connections, I can't wait to see what other surprises are in store."

Sheena grinned and leaned back against the couch. "Same here. It's going to be a weekend to remember for sure."

The two women shared a knowing look, each processing the connections in their own way, eager for the weekend ahead. Neither of them knew exactly how everything would play out, but one thing was clear: this getaway was going to be filled with surprises, some old friendships, and new ones forming in the most unexpected ways.

As they finalized the last of the plans, neither Gwen nor Sheena could deny the excitement bubbling up inside them. This weekend was going to be one for the books.

-----------------------

Sheena's mischievous grin spread across her face as she turned to Gwen, eyes sparkling with playful intent. "You know what? I think I've got a brilliant idea for this weekend." Gwen raised an eyebrow, sensing something fun was coming.

"What are you scheming, babe?" Gwen asked, folding her arms and leaning in with a smile.

Sheena leaned closer, a smirk tugging at her lips. "How about I play cupid?" she suggested with a wink. "I mean, we've got so many singles here, and I think it'd be fun if we paired up with your friends—well, with some of them. I think Mikha and Aiah would be a perfect pair, and Jhoanna and Stacey... don't you think that would be hilarious?"

Gwen blinked in surprise before letting out a chuckle. "Mikha and Aiah? Hmm... I mean, they'd be cute together, but they've never even met, have they?"

Sheena shrugged casually, "They haven't, but that's part of the fun, right? Let them get to know each other this weekend. I'm sure it'll be easy to pair them up. Aiah's outgoing and Mikha's... well, Mikha. Who wouldn't love her?"

Gwen laughed, imagining the two women together. "Okay, I'll give you that. And Jhoanna and Stacey? You think those two would hit it off?"

Sheena raised an eyebrow. "I can already see it—Stacey's sass and Jhoanna's... well, Jhoanna-ness. They'd make such a fun pair, don't you think? They can tease each other all day long, and it'll be fun to watch them figure it out."

Gwen couldn't help but laugh out loud. "You're definitely up to something. But you know, I kinda like it. It sounds like a good time. Let's just see how things play out." She paused for a moment, thinking about it. "I think I'm okay with this... as long as it doesn't get too chaotic."

Sheena giggled, "Oh, don't worry. It'll be all in good fun. And who knows, maybe sparks will fly."

Gwen smiled and leaned in to give Sheena a soft kiss. "Alright, cupid. Let's see if your matchmaking skills are as good as your other skills."

Sheena smiled back, clearly excited about her plans for the weekend. "You'll see. This is going to be so much fun."

As they continued to finalize the details of the weekend getaway, Sheena couldn't help but feel giddy about her little matchmaking scheme. Whether it was a success or not, she knew one thing for sure: it was going to be a weekend to remember. And if her plans worked out, she'd be the one everyone would thank for bringing a little romance and laughter into the mix.

--------------------------

Colet sat on the couch in the living room of her penthouse, her phone pressed to her ear as she waited for Gwen to pick up. She had been sitting quietly for a while, thinking everything over. As much as she was thrilled about the weekend getaway, there was a growing realization settling in her mind. It all came together—the pieces clicked, and she now understood just how connected her world was with Maloi's.

When Gwen finally answered, Colet took a deep breath and started, her voice low but excited. "Gwen, I've connected the dots."

Gwen's voice crackled on the other end of the line, a mix of curiosity and anticipation in her tone. "What dots? What's going on, Colet?"

Colet let out a small laugh, leaning back against the plush cushions. "It's... everything. Maloi and Sheena are friends, and Sheena is dating you. And we—well, we've been in the same friend group this whole time. I didn't realize it until now, but Maloi is part of the same circle.

There was a brief silence on the other end before Gwen let out a chuckle. "Oh, wow. You finally connected the dots. Took you long enough!"

Colet smiled knowingly, a soft chuckle escaping her lips. "I know. I just... didn't think it would be this small of a world. I mean, it's funny, isn't it? The whole time, we were all just... dancing around the same circle, and now... now I know just how close we really are."

She paused for a moment, the gravity of it all sinking in. She felt both amused and a little anxious about what this all meant for her relationship with Maloi. "But here's the thing, Gwen. I haven't told Maloi yet. I think I want to see her reaction when she realizes just how close we all are. You know, how you and Sheena are dating, and the whole thing with the friends... It'll be interesting to see her face when it clicks for her too."

Gwen, already well aware of how much Colet valued keeping things playful and surprising, gave a soft laugh. "I get it. I think it's going to be hilarious. And trust me, Sheena and I won't say a word to Maloi. We'll keep it quiet until it's the right time. Let her have her moment of realization."

Colet grinned, grateful for the understanding and support. "Thanks, Gwen. You're a good friend. I'm looking forward to seeing how this plays out."

"You've got this, Colet," Gwen replied warmly. "And I'm excited to finally meet Maloi too. Let's make this weekend memorable. It'll be fun."

"Definitely," Colet agreed, her excitement building again. "I'll let you know when we arrive. And don't worry, I'll handle everything when it comes to Maloi. She'll get her surprise soon enough."

As Colet ended the call, she felt a sense of anticipation rising within her. This weekend was going to be full of surprises, and she was looking forward to seeing how it all unfolded—especially Maloi's reaction when everything fell into place. She couldn't wait to see the look on her face when the pieces clicked for her, too. For now, all Colet could do was smile and wait for the right moment.

Turning her attention back to the bathroom door, Colet couldn't help but feel excited about what was to come. This weekend was going to be more than just a getaway—it was going to be an unforgettable experience.
