It was 1:09am. Sam was lazily scrolling through his phone, rereading each and every conversation he'd ever had with Charles. The two of them didn't text that much - Charles usually called him in case he needed anything, and if he wasn't too busy, he just came over to his house for a few minutes. Only two days had passed since the two of them talked, but Sam missed him already. After all, he'd said he was working on something big, so Sam didn't want to disturb him in any way. Since it was the small break their school gave after exams (for one week), he was free. The first two days passed by with him just lazing around on his bed and helping his sister with some of her homework but it soon got boring because he had no one else to hang out with - June had gone to his grandma's house, Simon had taken a break from everything since he was working on his book, and Madeline an he weren't so close; he'd never been to her house, doesn't know what her family is like, and nor does she know him that well. Not that they had to spend time only at each other's houses, but Sam preferred that over going out because they'd have more privacy and more freedom to do things without having the fear of being judged.

Not knowing what else to do, he went over to June's contact to see if he was online. He was.

He paused. Because of the things they'd been caught up with, Sam had totally forgotten to tell June about his crush on Charles. And since his friend doesn't know, telling him that he'd been rereading their messages would sound a little weird. And he wasn't planning on hiding it from June for long. So, with shaky fingers, he started telling June everything from the beginning.
