Professor Harris

" Text me when you make it home safely."

"I will, and don't forget to set that damn alarm clock or  else Harris will be on your ass. Come to think of it though, I'm sure you'd like that." She said, laughing with her tongue out.

I rolled my eyes playfully as I walked her to the car. " Shut up, you find her attractive just like I do."

She turned around with that small smile on her face.

"Umm hell yeah. But you know I go for the boys. Don't get me wrong though, Professor Harris could get it any day of the week."

"The week? More like any second."

We both laughed as the night came to an end. Riah's mom came to pick her up since she had to pass by my house anyway. We exchanged our hugs and split ways. I went back inside, cleaning up anything we both left out. Most days I studied and stayed home. I wasn't the going out kind of girl so I never really had plans outside of Riah. Which was fine because it was always "besties and fuck the resties." That was our little slang that we made up. I stared to clean up and wind down for the night. My house wasn't really messy but just a few things lying around. I grabbed my backpack forgetting that I should've been studying but it was so late that I didn't have the energy. That's when I remembered my encounter with Professor Harris. The way she looked at me today and gave me her full attention would be enough to make anybody fold.

The way she was upset because I was twenty minutes late to class was something else. She genuinely looked pissed and I don't think it's just because I'm the smartest student in her class. That may be partially why but I know for a fact that it's not the only reason. I walked to my room brining my backpack with me. The bed was calling my name but I still needed to shower and study, so I decided to just shower first.

After my shower, I laid out all my notes from the past few weeks. There was a lot of cover and there was no way I could study this all night and get a good nights rest. I climbed into bed and started looking over everything from start to finish. It was way too much to study and I was already exhausted. I looked over at my phone and it was already eleven thirsty. Yeah I'm just gonna do this tomorrow when I'm fully energized. I made sure to set my alarm for an earlier time just so I won't have to get lectured again.

The next morning

I woke up the next morning to my alarm going off. Surprisingly, I wasn't as tired as I thought I would be from the previous night. The time read seven a.m. I packed my bag and ate a small breakfast. I grabbed my keys and headed for the door. The air outside was warm and it gave me a little more energy for the day ahead. I felt my phone vibrate in my bag. It was a text from Riah saying she won't be at school today due to a doctor's appointment. I sighed as I put on my seatbelt. Great, now I gotta be by myself today. I drove off listening to my morning tunes before I had to lock in with this school work. I pulled up to the school right on time. There were other students outside with tables set up trying to get people to donate to whatever charity they had. I walked straight towards Harris's class, I took her advice seriously after yesterday.

The doors were already opened and I could see a few students already in there seats going over notes before class started. Professor Harris wasn't in the class yet but there was still about thirty minutes until class started. I took that time to go over my notes and scroll on my phone for a bit. After the thirty minutes and passed, the bell rang  and everyone was in their seats. The doorknob turned and I knew she was coming in. When she stepped in, all eyes were on her, especially mine. She wore a red blazer, fitted black shirt underneath, red skirt, and matching black boots to go with it. Her hair was curled perfectly and she wore that million dollar smile along with the pearls that sat so elegantly around her neck. She normally didn't smile so I don't know what was different today. Not far behind her was Professor Stanley. She was blonde, nice, and utterly gorgeous. She would come over sometimes and speak with Harris. I don't know why but I felt a ping of irritation.

They were talking about lectures and exams so I was confused as to why Harris was smiling from ear to ear. Their conversation went on for about five minutes so I just got on my phone. We weren't being taught anything because they were so caught up in chit chatting. Professor Stanley was a touchy person. Every time she gently touched Harris's arm it made me feel something and it was nothing good. I must be tripping or something because this is my teacher for gods sake. I got back on my phone to distract me from my feelings.

I could hear faint laughs from the front of the room. I didn't know exams were that funny.

"I'll let you get back to teaching before my students fall asleep on me." She turned back with the biggest smile on her face as she left the classroom.

Professor Harris turned her attention to us after what felt like forever. She stood behind her desk powering up the smart board.

"Good morning, everyone. I apologize for my conversation but I had to discuss some things with Professor Stanley."

Girl please. You were laughing from here to Timbuktu. Shit was not that funny.

I rolled my eyes as I put my phone under the desk. I didn't even care to hear the lecture anymore. I couldn't shake that feeling of annoyance for some reason and she wasn't making it any better with all that smiling. The conversation had been over and she was still showing all her teeth. I could hear faint whispers from some of the students sitting next to me.

"She must've got some last night cause she never smiles like this."

I laughed in my head but on the outside I was pissed.

"Today, we will continue to talk about constitutional law and what it means. This is a new chapter so I don't expect you all to have it all memorized right now."

About thirty minutes of class had passed by and I was switching between my phone and taking down notes. Harris would give me glances here and there. She looked so beautiful today and that was all the more reason I was feeling annoyed. How dare you flirt and look that good? Maybe I'm just delusional. As I was taking notes I felt my phone vibrate again. I checked it and it was Riah.

Riah: Am I missing valuable stuff? I hate missing school and then falling behind.

As I went to respond, Professor Harris's voice became louder as she completely stopped teaching. My heart started to race with that uneasy feeling that all eyes were now on me again. Why does she always have to do this?

"Ms. Wright! Why are you on your phone while I'm teaching? Whatever it is that you're doing on your phone must be more important than your education right?"

My breath became caught in my throat and I didn't know what to say. She was starting to make this a habit when she called me out in front of the whole class.

"I- I was."

She shook her head before I could even finish explaining. Her face turning to that of anger, her eyes were dark and intimidating.

"I don't care to hear the excuses Ms.Wright. I don't know what's gotten into you lately but I need you to see me after class."

No way she was being serious. All of this because I was on my phone? Where was all this energy when she was laughing it up earlier?

I rolled my eyes as I put my phone back into my pocket and I didn't even care to look back up after that situation. This was only the first class out of seven and I was already dying to go home. The class eventually came to an end with everyone packing up. I was hoping that she forgot about wanting to see me after class so I tried to slip in between some other students but she caught me.

"Ms.Wright, I've already seen you so make your way over here now!"

Damn. I tried.

I sighed heavily as I walked in front of her desk. Her eyes met mine and she never took them off me for a second. I caught butterflies every single time she did that. It was something to small but it was so attractive. She extended her hand out to the seat motioning for me to sit down but I honestly didn't want to.

"No, I'm okay."

She tilted her head to the side as if I'd said the worst thing in the world to her.

"Sit down, Allura."

"No, I don't want to sit down."

She let out a bitter laugh as she unclasped her hands. " I'm not asking you, I'm telling you and I won't repeat myself."

I sat down to avoid any arguments. I wasn't in the mood for her lecture today and I may not have said it but face will tell it all before my mouth does.

She sat down as well bringing her chair closer to the desk.

"I'm only going to ask you these things once. Why were you on your phone during my lesson?"

"Because I got a text message and I was trying to respond."

"A text message, huh? When you're in this class, your attention should be on me and not what's on your phone. I'm trying to teach you and you weren't even paying attention."

I furrowed my eyebrow and sat up. I could feel the frustration bubbling back up to the surface." I was paying attention, I was paying attention the entire time. It would've only taken me a second to respon-"

"I don't care how long it would've took. It could've waited until after my class was over."

That's why I got pissed off. She's being such a hypocrite right now.

"Well, maybe if you weren't talking and laughing it up with Professor Stanley for ten whole minutes then I wouldn't have been on my phone."

She stood up quickly coming around the desk standing right in front of me. Her scent was so intoxicating. Having her this close to me sent shivers through my body. She was even more curvy up close and I wanted nothing more than to grab that waist.

"Me and Professor Stanley were discussing work related things and what we talk about does not involve you."

I rolled my eyes as I folded my arms against my chest.

"Such a hypocrite thing to say, but okay, Professor."

"You know what I think it is? I think it's the environment. You can't seem to give me your undivided attention when you're in here."

She grabbed my phone from my hand and began typing. She didn't say anything about my last comment because she knew it was true. The way she typed was almost angry, like she was mad at my phone. She gave it back to me quickly.

"There, I've typed in my address and my phone number. You will meet me at my house every weekend to study since you can't seem to focus in here and there will be no excuses as to why you can't show up."

She grabbed her things and left the room before I could say anything. What the hell just happened?
