Chapter 81

seventy-nine

Against all odds - Minsung [✔]

The following day, Minho left the house and walked to the address Jeongin had given him. Of course, he had brought Jisung along with him since leaving him home alone would definitely be a bad idea.

He wasn't sure why the younger demon suddenly wanted to meet up. But he assumed that they were going to talk about something serious again. How stressful.

"Hey, you've been in an awful mood all morning," Jisung sighed. "Don't worry. I'm sure that everything's gonna be fine... Chill out a bit, okay?"

Heaving a sigh, Minho's shoulders slumped. "Yeah, fine. I guess I'm just overthinking a bit too much." He intertwined his fingers with Jisung's and they walked along the streets side by side.

A few minutes passed and they were finally nearing their destination. Minho wasn't surprised when they ended up at a large two-storey house. This was definitely Jeongin's home.

Walking up to the doorstep, he rang the doorbell and Jeongin was quick to open the door. It was as if he had been waiting for them. "You guys are finally here!" He smiled and beckoned the two to enter his house.

"What's up? Why did you suddenly decide to have us come over here?" Minho asked, his gaze roaming around the interior of the house. It had white walls, fancy furniture and decorations.

"I'd like to ask you guys about your plans for the upcoming weekend."

"What? All of a sudden?" Jisung raised a brow. He found himself questioning the demon's randomness. He had expected him to talk about the blood mage... not this.

"Yeah. I know that you guys are troubled by a lot of things right now. And I feel bad because it was Felix and I who ruined your supposedly happy times together. So I wanted to make it up to you guys."

As soon as the couple had left his house, he grabbed his phone and went through his contact list, his eyes getting stuck on a certain name.

"Why are you calling me?" A rough voice said, not caring to greet him politely, but Jeongin was already used to this kind of attitude from him.

"I want to repay that favor I owe you," he said. "The human you're looking for mentioned about a Halloween party that he wants to attend. Maybe you can find him there. I'll help you dig some more information."

"Good. Consider your favor repaid." Jeongin couldn't see him, but he didn't need to in order to know that the blood mage was grinning.

He was pretty much a creep who Jeongin tended to avoid whenever possible, so he was glad to be rid of him from now on.

"Why are you so determined on finding him?" He sighed. "It would be too much of a hassle for me. That demon with him is aggressive as fuck. Can't even take a little joke."

"Demons and humans can't mingle," the blood made replied, hissing bitterly. "It's what we believe in, and you know that."

"We share one goal and we're working together to achieve it. We don't tolerate weak demons who side with humans. They're below us and they should be treated accordingly."

"If you say so," Jeongin muttered annoyedly. "What are you planning this time? Making another mess? Don't call me next time you need someone to get rid of the dead bodies."

"No, this time I'll take care of it on my own," he said sternly. "I've been after him and that demon for a while. This is personal."

"Then I'd say their days are numbered," Jeongin muttered, shuddering when he heard the blood mage's deranged laughter. "Almost makes me feel sorry for them..."
