Chapter 21 - Taken
Running from Fate
Daemon POV
"No! No! No!" Jamie squealed. I watched amused as Matias tortured Jamie with the terror that is tickling. Ever since our game of hide and seek, Jamie had really grown on us, and it honestly felt like we were our own little family. Matias and Jamie had started to get along really well too. So much so that Jamie spent most of his time with us now than he did with other kids his age, but then again he didn't spend much time with other kids anyways. He hid with me at the end of the workday for Matias, trying so hard not to giggle as we heard Matias stomping our way. Honestly, the fact that Matias could easily smell us was kind of cheating, but we really didn't care. It was still fun.
I liked the way things were between us, the way I had finally grown accustomed to Matias constantly touching me, like when he randomly showed up behind me and wrapped his arms around me, or the kisses he would assault my face with randomly. Not that I minded. Sometimes the kisses got really heated...but I wasn't ready to go as far as he wanted to. He always respected my wishes too, never going past what I wanted to do. And I loved him for it, as much as I wouldn't actually say I loved him out loud. I don't think I was prepared to say it out loud.
Snapping out of my thoughts once I heard Jamie stop squealing, I watched as Matias grinned down at the small boy who lay breathless on the floor. I smiled myself, a warm feeling filling my chest at the sight. The warm feeling only grew when Matias turned his smiling face to me, laughing loudly. I felt my cheeks grow a little hot as I smiled at him, laughing when Jamie started squirming beneath Matias. Matias turned his attention back to the small boy, laughing as he shifted his weight off the boy and set him free. Jamie giggled as he ran from my mate, flinging himself into my arms with a squeal. I laughed with him, unable to stop it. I could get used to this, the constant laughter and happiness filling the room and my heart.
"I sense some favoritism here," Matias playfully growled, shifting on his knees. I snorted as Jamie squealed again, hiding his face in my neck. I hugged him tightly, sending Matias a bragging look.
"I'm not the one torturing the poor child." I snarked, smiling at my mate as another playful growl rumbled from his chest. His eyes flashed with a playful glint, narrowing on me. Mine widened as I watched him slowly start to stalk forward, I tried my hardest to scramble backward with Jamie still in my arms. Jamie seemed to realize my inevitable doom though, and with a loud squeal, escaped my arms leaving me open for my mate to attack.
"Traitor!" I screamed at him, right when Matias launched himself on me. I would not go down easily though, so as he tried to reach me with his hands, I kicked and punched, trying my hardest to ward him off. Jamie giggled from somewhere in the room, obviously enjoying my struggle, then again, I did laugh as he struggled, so I guess karma is a bitch.
Before I could even process it, Matias had me pinned, his large hands holding my wrists down as he sat on top of me, rendering my kicking useless. Both of us breathless, he laughed in my face, and I couldn't help but smile. He leaned down by my ear, his lips brushing against it, causing my face to turn red again. He chuckled in my ear, kissing just beneath it gently.
"I win." He whispered, his voice low and sultry. I squirmed again, but that obviously didn't help the situation, as he immediately loosed a small growl. I stopped moving immediately, realizing what was happening.
"Matias," I whispered, staring up at him as his eyes flickered from their normal color to gold.
"Jamie is still here," I whispered again, smiling a little and trying not to laugh. His eyes immediately shifted back to their normal brown. He lifted his head to look to the small child who was hiding in a corner, watching us with a happily-scared look. He giggled quietly as Matias met his eyes, and then the next thing I knew I was being tortured.
...
Matias POV
I was in literal heaven. My mate's uncontrollable laughs, his blushing face and squirming body, everything was just bliss. I could hear the laughs of the little boy who had stolen my mate's attention from across the room, undoubtedly enjoying the break he had gotten from tickling. From the little time we had known Jamie, he had surely grown on us. I'd looked into his background a little bit, and he was currently in the orphanage for the pack. His father was unknown, and his mother had died a couple of years back, around 4 I think, in a rogue attack. I remembered his mom the second I saw her profile, she was a very loved woman in the pack, always helping with the kids and anything she could help with. She was sweet and kind, and she never caused any problems. At the time, Jamie would have only been two.
Sitting back, I watched as Daemon slowly caught his breath, his gasps and struggles to breathe only causing me to laugh more. When he was finally back to normal breathing patterns he glared up at me. I only gave him a bright smile, swinging my legs off of him to go find Jamie again. Jamie picked up on this, immediately dashing for the door, but he was too slow. I jumped, snagging him by the waist and rolling so he would land on my chest instead of beneath me. He screamed, but not a terrified one, a scream of a playful child.
"NO! NO! NO! NO!" He yelped as my fingers dugs into his armpits, the laughter following only egging me on. Daemon snorted before I heard the shifting of a bed, and I didn't have time to turn my head and look at him before I was tackled to the floor.
I landed on my back, looking up dazed into the teasing eyes of my mate. He had a victorious smirk on his face as he straddled me, his hands pressing down on my chest to keep me down. It took me a minute to figure out what was happening, and when I did, I smirked up at Daemon, before resting my hands on his hips, starting to rub little circles into his flesh. He flushed, dropping his gaze to his hands still placed on my chest. I snickered, my fingers digging into his side, and he yelped, trying to scramble off of me. I let him go, laughing the entire time. Jamie immediately jumped to Daemon again the second he was off me, and I missed the way he felt on top of me.
I sat up and propped myself up, brushing a hand through my hair as I watched Daemon and Jamie huddle together near the bed, whispering to each other with not-so-subtle glances towards me, as if I couldn't hear everything they were saying anyways. Well, most of it. I just sat there, watching them with an amused smirk as they tried to "plan my demise," as my mate so wonderfully put it. They nodded to each other with determined faces, before turning to me with the most angelic smiles I think I've every seen. Oh the manipulative little shits. I laughed at the look, not even bothering to hide my amusement.
Daemon slowly, and might I add very sexily, made his way towards me crawling on his knees. My wolf immediately tried to take over as he watched my mates ass sway in the air, his hips moving temptingly. I loosed a low growl, and had to fight my wolf not to take over. If Jamie wasn't in the room, I might not have bothered. But I wouldn't go past anything my mate wanted me too. I knew exactly what the two were up to, I knew exactly that their plan was to have Daemon seduce me, and I let them. I fell right for their trap, after all, my mate was that insanely distracting.
"Matias," He drawled out, eyeing me up and down. Jamie was completely out of my mind by now as I watched my mate finally make it too me, climbing into my lap. My hands immediately gripped his hips, and I heard his breath hitch as he looked into my eyes, his soft hands delicately placed on my shoulders. His face was bright red, and whatever he was doing was definitely working to distract me. I locked eyes with the living temptation who was currently sitting on my lap, snarling softly.
"You're playing with fire, baby." I whispered, my voice rough with arousal. I glanced down at his lips, slowly moving forward, but I did not get to meet them, as a voice suddenly blared in my head.
"Alpha, rogues at the southern and northern borders, more than last time." One of the warriors spoke, sounding urgent. I snarled angrily, looking at Daemon with sad eyes. I really wanted that kiss.
"You need to take Jamie and go bunkers." I whispered, moving my mate off my lap, I turned to see Jamie behind me, looking at me confused.
"What..What?" He asked, cocking his little head. I smiled down at him, before gathering him into my arms. He wrapped his arms around my neck, looking at me, still confused.
"There's a little bit of trouble that I have to go take care of, so we're going to have to pause play time, ok? I'll come back and play with you as soon as I can." I gently kissed him on the forehead, before handing him to a waiting Daemon. Daemon watched me warily, his eyes briefly darting to my lips. I smiled, before leaning down one last time and placing a chaste kiss on his lips.
"Everything will be fine, just some rogues at the borders." I gave him an encouraging smile, brushing his blonde hair away from his face. He nodded, before giving me his own small smile.
"Be careful." He said, before turning to walk out the door. I followed him, watching him walk down the hallway before I turned the other way, running through the house. I reached the main floor in under two minutes, and Sam immediately was upon me.
"There's a lot this time," She said as we walked towards the large glass doors, looking over the field where Daemon had almost been attacked that first time. I prayed that he would stay in the bunker this time, but I knew that with Jemie to take care of he would.
"I don't know what the Hell they want, they're just standing there, not doing anything. The only time they do anything is if we get too close, and even then they just snap at us. There is more at the southern border, and the ones at the northern are doing the same thing, just sitting and doing nothing." She explained, huffing at the end of her explanation. I nodded, throwing open the doors and stepping onto the porch.
Sam and I rushed off the porch, shifting halfway through the field, not even caring that our clothes were ripped.
"Do not engage. If they attack, fight back, but for now, do not engage." I spoke into the mind link for my warriors and got noises and words of approval back.
"Those of you that are at the packhouse, stay on guard, nobody gets through." I closed off the mind link as Sam and I rushed through the woods, dodging trees and dead logs, and anything else that could get in our way. We made it to the main cluster of rogues within a few minutes, slowing to a stop, and I took them all in. There were maybe around 25 of them there.
They were just sitting there, watching us. What the Hell?
I surveyed the relaxed wolves, before catching eyes with a significantly bigger one in the middle of the group. I snarled at him before shifting, one of my wolves nearby bringing me a pair of gym shorts.
"Shift." I snarled angrily, dominance leaking from my voice. The man's wolf snorted, but obeyed my command, shifting into the same man that had attacked my mate last time. I snarled angrily again, not happy that he was back. Not happy that I hadn't killed him the first time.
"Did we interrupt something, Alpha?" He snarked, smirking at me as he crossed his arms. His eyes held a glint of something I couldn't decipher, but whatever it was wasn't good.
"Leave. You're not welcome here, and you have never been. Get away from our lands before we are forced to engage." I growled, fists clenching in anger as my nails slowly got longer, pricking my skin. A few of my wolves growled in agreement, hackles raised and ready to fight. The man laughed, raising his hands in mock surrender. The wolves around him watched us with amusement in their eyes, licking at their paws with a disinterest that unnerved me.
"Oh, we're not here to fight, we're just here for the distraction." His disturbing smile made me uncomfortable, but his words are what really made me sick.
"What?" I barked, my wolf even more on edge than normal. The man's smile just got wider as crossing his arms over his chest. I immediately tried to link one of the wolves back at the house, asking for whereabouts, and if anything was wrong. I got no answer. But a second later I got one of the worst mind links I could have ever possibly gotten, from a woman that must have been in one of the bunkers. Her voice was frantic, and I could practically hear the tears that must have been streaming down her face.
"Alpha, they...they got in the house. They killed the guards and...and took Daemon, we couldn't stop them."
