Chapter 381
Sold To a Handsome Trillionaire by Wanda Lowe
Chapter 381 Are You in Pain?
âIf you werenât avoiding me, I wouldnât have to come looking for youâ
Finished âI told you, Iâm not avoiding you! David, I have work and meetingsâI canât spend every moment running after you!â
Davidâs voice remained maddeningly calm. âAlright, Iâll believe you. Then how about I transfer you to the CEOâs office as my secretary? That way, youâll always have time for me.â
Caroline took a sharp breath, struggling to keep her composure.
She was on the verge of snapping.
âDavid, Iâd rather quit than work under you as a secretary!â Her voice cracked slightly as she slammed the meeting documents onto the table.
âYou can go ahead and yell louder,â David said casually. âThat way, everyone outside can hear you.â
Caroline clenched her jaw.
âIf you have the strength to argue, then I guess youâre doing fine,â he added smoothly. âThatâs good to know.â
Fine? He was calling this fine? She was on the verge of exploding, and he had the nerve to act like this was some minor disagreement.
The silence between them stretched uncomfortably.
Then, David suddenly stood up and stepped toward her. âI just wanted to check on you.â
He reached out, intending to brush a stray strand of hair from her face.
Caroline flinched. Without thinking, she backed away, retreating several steps.
A cold shiver ran through her body.
Even she couldnât control it.
The memories from last night still clung to her, raw and unforgiving.
She feared his touch.
This was the man who had ignored her protests, dismissed the fact that she was pregnant, and taken what he wanted regardless of her pain.
âCaroline,â David slowly let his hand drop. âDo you really have to fight me on this?â
âFight you?â she scoffed. âDo I even have that choice?â
âI know last night... I shouldnât have done that.â
Her eyes snapped to his, her breath catching. Was he admitting fault? That was unexpected.
But then, with infuriating ease, he continued, âBut if I had to do it over, Iâd do the exact same thing.â

Finished believed for a second that he might apologize. She should have known better. David hadnât changed one bitt âYou barely got any sleep. You must be exhausted, he said, his gaze never leaving hers. âDoes it hurt?â
Caroline bit down on her lower lip, hard.
âThis is all I wanted to ask,â his voice was low, almost gentle. âBut you wonât even let me show concern.
Her entire body trembled even more.
David had followed me all the way to the conference room just to ask this? How pathetic. How ridiculous! Did he actually think he was being considerate? Thoughtful?
For Caroline, every word he said only dragged her back to last night, reopening wounds she was trying so hard to forget.
David took another step forward. âI tried to hold back. I was as gentle as I could be. But if it still hurts... put on some medicine.
Itâll help.â
Her legs gave out. She collapsed into the chair, feeling her strength drain away.
Her lips had gone pale.
âCaroline?â David frowned, stepping closer. âAre you in that much pain?â
âYes,â she answered, her voice shaking. âIt hurts. It hurts so much I feel like Iâm dying. I canât take it.â
David straightened immediately. âIâm taking you to the hospital.â
He reached out to lift her, but she smacked his hand away. âDonât touch me!â
âBut you just said-â
Before he could finish, Caroline pressed a trembling finger against her chest.
